Boat loads of mail comes into NW Noise...or gets lost and we are just imagining the "boat loads part", that inquire about JP. JP writes and is an editor here at NW Noise. If you want to get know the man, read a short interview with him by Leslie - she plays an amazing Guitar Hero, on expert setting, but that's neither here nor there.

Make sure you check out a very cool interview Northwest Noise conducted with Minus 5 and R.E.M guitarist Scott McCaughey back on April 25th, 2008 at The Doug Fir Lounge in Portland, Oregon. The interview is just over 17 minutes long, and is available at www.northwestnoise.com.
The Minus 5 played a sweet show with our friends The Heavenly States (Oakland, CA) and The Dimes (Portland, OR). It was one of the best shows Northwest Noise had seen in a long time, and artists from the band Spoon, The Decemberists, Boy Eats Drum Machine to Jasmine Ash and Jon Garica were in attendance of this event, to name a few.
Keep checking back to Northwest Noise for some more sweet podcast and internet interviews all summer long!
Cheers, Jason Gears of NWN!

Before The Heavenly States rocked Doug Fir on Friday night, Jason Gears and Justin Royce sat down with the band in the Green Room. Jason and Justin's experience summed up in a brief statement: "...this band is hilarious!". Yep, and they can rock. If you missed them at Doug Fir, check them out at the Sasquatch Music Festival in May.

NW Noise has reviewed the second album from Swedish artist El Perro Del Mar (Sarah Assbring), read the full review here. Sarah Assbring, a Swedish pop artist. She is the sole member of El Perro Del Mar, a band name that came to her after a depressing time in Spain through a stray dog that consoled and bonded with her while seated on a beach. Her songwriting is her expression of her feelings, and with much effort she wrote, played and recorded her own music with the label Hybris releasing a three-song EP of her work in early 2004. After respectable sales of the EP and successful tours of Sweden, the EP was reworked and released in England and Europe in 2006.El Perro Del Mar's next album was released in late-2006, self-titled and released by The Control Group in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand. After a successful tour of the US in 2007 joined by additional bandmates and after jettisoning Hybris for the label Licking Fingers, work on their second album begun: From the Valley to the Stars.

Topics of discussion in the podcast included: Her album in many facets (duh!) The hives Googling yourself How the Blazers made her sad Guitar Hero ...and a whole lot more... Go to www.northwestnoise.com to check out the podcast audio as well as the CD review. It'll be a good time had by you, surely. Cheers, Jason Gears

We've planned the event, almost choked looking at the cost and have screwed up a few times, but I'm still seriously excited for December 13th's NW Girls Make Noise show, presented by Northwest Noise. The concert will feature Jasmine Ash, Debra Arlyn and headliners Dirty Martini. Tickets are $12, and you can buy them online at TicketsWest or at Doug Fir the night of the show. This is Northwest Noise's first promoted concert, so wish us luck, or better yet, buy a ticket, some drinks and have a good time supporting local, indie, female musicians and Northwest Noise.

It's been a long time coming, but Northwest Noise is jumping into a new realm of "Noise Possibilities" in preparing for our first sponsored indie music event. Yes, we're no longer just writing reviews, podcasting indie music and giving out some tidbits about what's going on in the PDX indie music scene. We're driving full throttle into our first event, which we are calling NW Girls Make Noise!NW Girls Make Noise is a celebration of female musicians and bands from around the Northwest; specifically Portland for this particular event.
