The other day, Clinton told me that he wants us to find him a replacement.  Steve and I kind of saw this coming, and there are no hard feeling at all.  Clinton is just really delving into his studies and finishing up a degree, and he feels like he is holding us back while also not having as much fun as he should be, because homework is in the back of his mind at every practice and show.

So Steve and I are on the lookout for a bassist and we came up with some criteria:
-Must be a sweet dude or dudette.
-Must own a bass guitar and an amp.
-Must be 18 years old or older.
-Must have a drivers license and some means of transportation.
-Must not have drug or alcohol abuse problems.
-Must be available to practice weekly.
-Must be available to play out of town shows on weekends and the occasional weekday.
-Must be available to tour over the summer and do mini-tours during other seasons.

I think that is all we came up with.  Honestly, we will work with someone who is even just beginning to learn bass.  Hell, if you want to join and you don't own a bass and equipment, but are able and willing to buy that stuff, then come over, hang out, and we will see if we can make it work.

It also would be rad if you have a pretty broad taste in music (ie: American Football, Black Sabbath, Ruiner, Portraits of Past, Black Flag, Morrissey, etc.).  I mean, Steve and I don't have a whole lot of overlap in the music we listen too, so it doesn't matter much, but we've been known to use metal riffs and twinkly emo parts in the same song and if you aren't into it, then we are just going to annoy you, because we non-ironic in our sincerity in loving and playing both quiet and heavy music.

Anyways, there is no need to worry about us cancelling any of our upcoming shows (ironically, we cancelled a show today due to illness).  But Clinton is going to play as often as he can or we will have someone fill-in on bass until we find a stable bassist.  Steve and I are also working out a set we can do as a two piece if worse comes to worse.

But yeah, shows with The Reptilian and Empire! Empire! coming up!!!  Then the next weekend we will begin recording for our two upcoming splits.

See you soon!

Some reviews of our s/t cd have been coming in.  It's kind of weird to me, but also really cool in a way.

In other news, it's looking like the full length is going to be pushed back a bit in favor of doing a split lp and a split 7".  Hopefully, we will have some new songs up for you soon!

Hey.  I just finished making this from footage of our summer tour: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wM1tuzlx4Vc.

We've been a little quiet, but stuff has been as productive as ever.  Right now, we have 6 new songs.  Talks have begun to record 2 for a split.  We're hoping to record a new full length this winter.  I've been booking shows for our January tour with Juvenescent Beat!  Lastly, on Thursday we have our first post-tour show.

Then there are some other plans for the Spring and Summer, but since those are not as solidified I won't talk about them in depth.  However, we just might be playing shows that aren't in the United States if all things go according to plans.

We love you and miss you very much.

This is a sequel to the previous update.

More things I expected to happen which occurred:
-Brendan and Zach from Who Goes There getting into a fist fight.
-Falling in love with Winfield, Alabama and wondering why I haven't moved there yet.
-Having an unbearable allergies in Winfield, Alabama and fleeing that town with my pockets filled with tissues.
-Having 7 new members of my family.

More things I didn't expect to happen which occurred:
-A member of Who Goes There quitting the band and sitting at a bus station for 4 hours before changing his mind.
-A cop asking us if we have ever seen "Up in Smoke."
-Listening to so much Gucci Mane.
-Playing with a horror punk band wearing goblin masks and hooded cloaks.
-Carlo misplacing his water bottle everyday.
-Lots of Zombies Ate My Neighbors.

Bands that we have played with that are great: Healthy Scholars, edhochuli, Da Bears, Empire! Empire! (I was a lonely estate), La Dispute, Jonathon, Incendiaries, The Reptilian, The Please and Thank Yous, Kevin from Liquid Limbs new band (I forget the name.  Sorry!), and our brothers in WHO GOES THERE?

Honestly, there is so much that has happened over the past month that I don't think I can ever adequately put into words.  It's hard to believe that I'm going to start a new job today instead of playing guitar.

I have to thank Annie, Carlo, and Who Goes There for making this my most unforgettable summer thus far.

Things are going to begin stirring in the Perfect Future camp real soon.  New songs are to be written and recorded.  Shows will be booked and played.

Category: Dreams and the Supernatural
We are half-way through our August tour with Who Goes There.  (This blog written via Internet Explorer, thus without Firefox's spell check.  Now the world gets to see that I am not as good as a speller as I want them to think I am.)

Things that I expected to happen that occurred:
-copious amounts of male frontal nudity
-non-verbal communication
-someone in Who Goes There peeing their pants
-others getting too wild
-a member of Who Goes There threatening to quit
-dumpster diving
-to be the first person asleep every day
-asking strangers whether what they think about "Moeshia" and cargo shorts

Things that I didn't expect that occurred:
-listening to lots of ICP
-constant "hang loose" hand signal
-mustaches
-playing at a white supremacist's house
-spending so much time at playgrounds
-$1200 dollars worth of van repairs on the first day of tour
-Annie wearing a sleeveless Metalica shirt
-flaming genetalia
-drinking so much mountain dew that I ended up slinking around in people's yards at 3 am
-Zach Bukowski showered
-giving myself a stick and poke tattoo
-playing a generator show under a bridge in Richmond
-that second hand smoke would become oddly comforting

All in all, it's amazing that things are going so well for us on our first tour.  Carlo will be flying in tomorrow, which will rule.

Bands that we have played with that are great: Pansori, 1994!, Unfun, We Were Skeletons, Oh Mother, Straight No Chaser, Fair Root, The G, Cryptorchid Chipmunk, Thrashington DC, It's Just Vanity, The Emotron, Bombs Away!, Juvanescent Beat, The Book Slave, and the almighty WHO GOES THERE?

Thanks to all the people who set up shows, let us crash at their place, and cooked us food/let us use dirty dishes by making our own food.  You were all great!

Lastly, special thanks to Annie.  Yesterday was her last show with us on this tour.  She still is hanging out for a couple of days, but we all are still really bummed out about knowing that she is going to be leaving in the next couple of days.

Things are getting ridiculous:

1.  Tour is two weeks away.  We are in a mad scramble to fill up the few gaps that we have.  If you can help, please do.  The first two weeks of tour will feature the lovely Annie Malone on bass guitar.  She has never been on tour before and she is really nervous but excited.  If you see her tell her she is doing great!  The remainder of the tour will showcase Carlo from Vikings! on either bass or guitar (depending on whether Clinton can take the time off work).  Carlo rules.  He hasn't practiced with us, but he is such a sweet dude that I'm not worried one bit.

2.  I just got a box full of cds in the mail.  They look great.  If you want one paypal $10 to thesweptunder AT gmail DOT com or go to www.cylsrecords.com and use their store.

3.  New songs are shaping up.  New recordings will begin being planned for after we get off tour.

4.  Split cassette will be out whenever I rerecord vocals on the song and sit down to mix things.

5.  Hopefully in time for tour, we will have 60 shirts.  They will be on American Apparel, which I'm excited for, because every other shirt for one of my previous bands have been on Gabe's shirts that were marked down because they had holes in them and split seams.

For now, that is all.

Last night we posted two mastered tracks from the full length.  This is the best sounding record that I have ever been a part of.  There are a couple of little things that I wish I had time to fix, but I think they are little things that no one will notice.

The artwork should be finished in a couple of days, so then it will be off to get things pressed.

We are looking at our schedules to figure out a summer tour.  Be on the lookout for that.

Exciting news on the horizon.

The record is practically done.  Two songs still need bass tracks and there is a couple of little things that need done, but this weekend I should be passing the torch off to Jon Felton for mixing.  We might be able to pull a May release if every one involved mans up.

We have been practicing for our upcoming shows.  We have a lot of songs, so it will be nice for people who see us multiple times, because we won't be playing the exact same set.

Get in touch for booking.  Get in touch if you want to do a split 7" with us.  Get in touch if you want to put out a split 7" on your record label.  Get in touch if you want to play rhythm guitar.
