WAZ Independently Releases New Full-Length Album "These Bright Lights" Exclusively on iTunes on September 21, 2009

Click here:  Waz - These Bright Lights

"These Bright Lights" is WAZ's coming of age album. This confessional 11 song record tells WAZ's story of falling in love and wedding his southern belle who graces the album with her angelic vocals and piano playing.

"These Bright Lights" was produced by Will Golden & WAZ, mixed and mastered by Tom Rogers (Magnetic Fields) with Special Guest Appearances by Pete Yorn & David Immergluck (Counting Crows).

Currently, WAZ is scoring Bill Lawrence & Courteney Cox's ABC Comedy "Cougar Town". "Cougar Town" premieres this Wednesday, September 23rd.

"As a show composer WAZ brings something incredibly special. He has the ability to make score music sound current, like it was just lifted off the radio, and yet, it still services the show perfectly. On SCRUBS we feel like we made some discoveries (Josh Radin) and some rediscoveries (Colin Hay). We're all music nerds here. As a group we're confident that WAZ will be the next singer/songwriter that we try to claim credit for. He's that good."

Thank you all for the kind BDay wishes!

About the New Songs Part 3!

“These Bright Lights” (title track)
Originally I had written this song on piano, but because I can’t play very well, I finished it on guitar.  Thank God I did….’cause Jamie really played it perfectly!
This is the most intimate song I’ve ever written.
In any relationship there always seems to be one person who resists….even if things are really meant to be.  Sometimes people need a little reminder how special their situation is.

Here is the album cover. This shot was taken in Central Park by our very dear friend Stephanie Jones.

“All We Need”
I was definitely excited to have such a big group of friends in one room for some cocktails and singing!  Huge drums, lots of vocals…..and words to live by! Here's a video of Malcolm warming us all up for the recording.  :)

"These Bright Lights" available on iTunes on this Monday, September 21st, 2009. Spread the word!

About the New Songs Part 2

“Love All Around”
We went for a 70’s vibe on this one.  This is one of the earliest songs written for this album.  Not sure what else to say other than- wherever you go, there will be love all around…..if you want it!

“Won’t Cost A Thing”
I really enjoyed the recording process for this song.  We kinda went backwards to get its’ sound.  Really happy how it turned out!  Definitely the most organic sound I’ve ever recorded.
This song is about someone being afraid to confess their love for another.  Especially because of how close they already are.

First, big thanks to www.reverbnation.com for featuring my new songs on their main page this week!

I'm going post blogs about all of the new songs everyday until the release!  "These Bright Lights" will be released this coming Monday, September 21st.

#1
“All You Want”
The opening track of the album.
At the time this song was written there were a number of people in my life that I was having difficulty communicating with.  I’ve learned that some people don’t value the ‘art’ of communicating, and prefer to avoid an issue, rather than deal with it.  Others…..thankfully, are more open to solving an issue rather than sit on it and let it just get worse. That being said I needed to dig deep to make sure that I was offering all of myself and not being selfish in my relationships.  This is me working it out.

#2
“When We Were Young”
Couldn’t be happier having Pete Yorn and David Immergluck (Counting Crows) featured on this one!

I feel like we all know someone that prefers to live in the past, and can’t seem to appreciate the present moment.  Maybe bad decisions, or unfortunate circumstances have brought them to this……fair enough.  This is my take on someone who’s thinking about how the past seemed to be a much better time.
