Boating and fishing season is finally here! Are you ready to hit the water?

Here are a few things to check before hitting the water. Remember, being safe and prepared is a must.
 
CHECK ALL COAST GUARD REQUIRED ITEMS
1. Check life jackets and throw cushions for tears, broken buckles and broken straps. Also make syre you have enough life jackets for each person on board.
2. Check expiration dates on fire extinguishers and flares.
3. Check all horns and whistles
4. Check boat registration numbers and make sure you have your registration on board.
 
CHECK BOAT AND TRAILER
1. Check all lights on your boat
2. Check all dock lines and anchor lines for cuts knots, or any other problems.
3. Check oil reserve if you boat has one.
4. Check all wires for bad connections, cuts, or any other problems.
5. Check all electronics including your VHF radio and if you don't have one, get one.
6. Check the water in your batteries and your battery terminals for corrosion.
7. Start you engine/engines to make sure they start ok and run good. (let them run for several minutes while you listen to them to make sure they sound ok and stay running)
8. Check all pumps and filters.
9. Make sure your bildge pump is working properly and your plug/plugs are in.
10. Check trailer lights.
11. Check tires on trailer for correct pressure, good tred, cracks and nails.
12. Check trailer breaks in your trialer has them.
13. Check winch strap for tears and weak spots
14. Check licence plate and expiration date.
 
CHECK BOATING AND FISHING SUPPLIES
1. Make sure you have all your usually boating and fishing supplies to ensure a great time on the water.
2. Check all tackles, rods, reels, and other fishing equipment.
3. Makes sure you have coolers, sun screen, towels, and all your oher normal boating supplies.
