Antics Presents: MALUCA and PAUL DEVRO Mad Decent Party Crawdaddy 2nd September '09 Doors 11pm Entry €5 Antics has always been a fan of the Mad Decent sound. It's definitely one of the first things I got into when I started listening to and playing electronic music with Diplo bridging the gap between dance and indie but also championing latin sounds, baltimore and much more. Diplo's label has been leading the way for some time so I'm delighted to be bringing to Dublin 2 of the newes faces on that label: MALUCA
Her Diplo produced debut single "El Tigeroso" has been a big hit in the world of blogging and brings a new sound to clubbing. New York based Dominican, Maluca, burst on to the scene at this years SXSW festival as part of the Mad Decent Soundsystem. It was used to showcase this brand new talent and it was one of the most talked about shows of the festival. Latin infused energy from Dominican Republic via New York!
PAUL DEVRO

Paul writes a lot of the pieces on the AMZING
Mad Decent Blog and is one of the most interesting producers coming from Mad Decent HQ right now. I'm particularily really, really into his remix of Radioclit's "Secousse". It's prefect. Seems like a cool guy and from reading his posts over the past year or so on Mad Decent, knows his music. A great way to get in the mood for EP!

ANTICS BRINGS YOU BARCELONA'S PORNO LOVING LABEL - TRACY RECORDINGS - EUROPE'S BRIGHTEST UP-AND-COMING ELECTRONIC MUSIC LABEL!

Tracy RecordingsTracy Recordings is a fresher than fresh new label from Barcelona. A product of endless sweaty nights in underground nightclubs and other dubious hot spots, it’s the Brainchild of four of the most eager minds in Barcelona’s elecronic scene. Tracy Recordings is the new adventure of Kosmos, one of the top spanish dj’s, also responsable for Palace Recordings and a miriad of other creative things, alongside Ginebra, dj, producer and nightlife personality, Funkmasta, skillfull producer, dj and musician and Alex Dellarge promoter extraordinaire, dj and talented producer. Taking their name from the famous porn star Tracy Lords, they try to pay homage to her talents to subert morals and good taste, basically beacuse they want to tease you and provoke a reaction. Punk as fuck, that’s the way they like it. Tracy Recordings is a unique iniciative in the spanish electronic scene, focusing on eclectic club sounds, away from the dominant minimal techno suff. Tracy’s sound is somewhere between the american sound of Diplo, Klever or Spank Rock, the europeaan dirty electro of Ed Banger or Institubes, the rebirth of retrodiscorock sounds, DFA stylee and basically eclectic, non predictable suff. To make things loud and clear the first release"Music For Bitches" is a hedonistic compilation to show the World their exciting roster of up and coming talent. That include the french Monster P, Kidz On Glue , alongside local artists like Supercola, Ravenheads, TheAmplid, Sidechains, Bitcode or The Lords Of Tracy a. A real melting pot that shows the multicultural reality of a city like Barcelona. www.myspace.com/tracyrecordings www.myspace.com/djkosmos www.myspace.com/alexdellarge DELLARGE

This kids are pure adrenalin, generating a mash up festival in their sets where electro, nu rave and synth pop collapse to set every club or venue they play on fire. And, they’re from Barcelona. Yes, they’re one of those young acts showing that the Barcelona electronic scene is fastly regenerating and is really healthy.
You can catch them in places like BeCool, Salamandra, Deposito Legal, Sala Zero, or other clubs like Fellini, Cotton Club, Redrum, etc….oh! and they’ve played at the legendary Montreux festival, alongside names like Chemical Brothers, Placebo or Digitalism.
After their storming mash up collection, they release in Tracy their first own track ever. It’s called Billing and it’s a solid slice of electro tech that makes us want more and more! Keep'em coming
www.myspace.com/supercolaKOSMOS

Kosmos is not your average dj. He is one of the top Spanish djs, constantly guesting at the best clubs and festivals around Spain and starting a promising international career that’s taken him to important clubs and events in places like London, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Moscow, Stockholm, Helsinki, Buenos Aires, etc…
An accomplished breakdancer in his early teens, an avid record collector and a punk kid at heart he’s always been an artist difficult to categorize, never following the stablished trends, just his own personal instinct. Raised on a healthy diet of old school hip hop, electro, synth pop, italo disco, punk, dub, ska, dancehall, rave or techno and being exponed to the acid house explosion in London, he’s forgued a unique atitude as an artist. In fact, he was one of the pioneers of the Barcelona club culture and he’s still at the forefront of the cutting edge electronic scene. His residencies are Nitsa/Apolo, Boombox @ Apolo [2] (monthly), Cobra @ Apolo [2] (monthly), Nasty Mondays @ Apolo [2], Apolo Andorra (monthly), Fellini (monthly) Tracy Recordings @ Fellini (bi-monthly), Alongside Blanc (Bimonthly) in Reus. Also you can catch him at a quality club near you soon, guesting and smashing the floor.
He directs two labels Tracy Recordings, alongside Ginebra, Funkmasta and Alex Dallarge, a fusion of punk aesthetics with new sounds like crunk, electro or bassline house. And Palace Recordings specialized in electronic deep house sounds. Production wise he’s known to be part of The Lords Of Tracy alongside Funkmasta and Ginebra, creating heavy bass electro crunk stuff. Alsp he's part of Majestic manufacturing electronic house grooves.

ANTICS PRESENTS MAX TUNDRA (Domino Records)
Plus Elsewhere Dj Set
Doors 11pm Entry €5
Usual very good drinks promos
I
think this could be one of the highlights of over 3 years of Antics. I
really can't wait for this. If you haven't heard Max Tundra, go check
out some You Tube or follow links below!!
ABOUT MAX TUNDRA BY OWEN PALLETT (Final Fantasy, ex-Arcade Fire, Last Shadow Puppets arranger) Max
and I met in Barcelona in 2005 at Primavera Sound. His slot was at 4am.
He put on a mask, wrapped himself up in tape, and played forty minutes
of music made mostly using Amiga sample tracker software from the late
1980s. There was virtuosic melodica playing, Pointer Sisters-style
singing, and an eight-minute version of “So Long, Farewell” from The
Sound Of Music. I was wasted and ended up passing out on a beach in my
underwear. When the sun rose, I woke up with dried merengue and sand
glued to my hair, and in a daze, I realized that I had just witnessed
nothing less than the best music performance of my life. What
sets Max Tundra apart from any other band in the world is his attention
to detail. This album is impossibly full of ideas, seeking out every
imaginable sound in the world and giving each their own curtain call.
When you listen to this album, you'd think that it was made by an
eccentric millionaire, with every name-brand pop music producer in the
world contributing their own two seconds of material. Upon closer
inspection, you'd realize that it's been six years since “Mastered By
Guy At The Exchange”; in that time, Max probably hasn't had a single
good night's sleep. I can't compare this record to any record
I've ever heard before. Even Max's previous records are a distant echo.
It is dance music, it is discourse, it is teen sex comedy, it is a
video game, it is a dance troupe, it is a thirteen course meal with
Amontillado. It is shock and awe. Listen and be humbled. BIOGRAPHY Max
Tundra, real name Ben Jacobs, is an English multi-instrumental
musician, singer and music producer. He has released two well-received
albums for Domino Records: Some Best Friend You Turned Out To Be
released in 2000 and Mastered By Guy At The Exchange released in 2002.
He has completed his third album, and it is scheduled for an October
2008 release. He was one of the last ever musicians to record a Peel
Session on John Peel's radio show before Peel's death. He hosts a
weekly radio show on Resonance FM, called Max Tundra's Rotogravure. _________________________________ DISCOGRAPHY Albums * Some Best Friend You Turned Out To Be · Mastered By Guy At The Exchange Singles/EPs * Children At Play * Cakes * Ink Me * QY20 Songs * Lysine · Cabasa Remixes * Mogwai - "Helicon 2" * Kid 606 - "Dandy" * Janek Schaefer - "Wow" * The Monsoon Bassoon - "Commando" * Ruby - "Lilypad" * Missy Elliott - "The Rain" * Turin Brakes - "Long Distance" * Ambulance - "Whindie" * The Strokes - "Alone, Together" * Architecture in Helsinki - "The Owls Go" * Future Pilot AKA - "Mein Nehi Jana" * The Futureheads - "Decent Days and Nights" * Shirokuma - "Moonlight in the Afternoon" * Mystery Jets - "On My Feet" * Mint Royale - "The Effect On Me" * Franz Ferdinand - "Do You Want To" * Pet Shop Boys - "I'm With Stupid" * Freddie Mercury - "I Was Born to Love You" * The Futureheads - "Back to the Sea" * Jack Arel - "Berkenhead School" * Lily Allen - "LDN" * Von Südenfed - "Fledermaus Can't Get It" * Architecture in Helsinki - "Hold Music" * Tunng - "Bullets"
