Dear Merry Wives of Windsor Friends,
Happy Holidays! In the grand tradition of Family Holiday Letters everywhere, we would like to take some time to tell you what's been going on with us:
Claire has been keeping busy trying to break the record for most strings broken in a single evening. She came close at the Grove, unfortunately there's no category for most strings broken in a single song. She is, however, the ranking champion for most strings tuned in a single thirty-minute time-period.
Darien is currently formulating a business plan that includes her fiddle-playing, the funny hats she crochets, and
Burning Man. We'll keep you informed as this develops.
Heather continues to direct the Wives, her Christmas Caroling group, her three, er, two children (sorry Stu), and her department with WDI. We're pretty sure she'll get some sleep some time in January.
Jenny is almost done with school! Children everywhere can look forward to the hottest History Teacher ever.
Judi works for a company that works for a company that works for an agency that was started by the government, but isn't actually a government agency. She loves her job, but only from 6am to 4pm excluding holidays and weekends and every other Friday.
Kathy has ambitions of playing an instrument (besides clapping) with the band. This might actually happen now that her house and garden addition are completed! She is also secretly
Wonder Woman. Don't tell.
Kimi has GRAUDATED!! YAY!!! She's working toward her teaching credential. We would say something else about hot teachers; however she'll be teaching elementary school, so we'll just say congratulations.
Liz is enjoying her work as a licensed monkey wrangler. Her oldest monkey is driving now, so those who live near the
Inland Empire beware and buckle-up.
Myra continues to be a wife and mom and looks forward to going back to school full-time in January. She also looks forward to growing an extra limb or four so she can play all of her instruments at once! This might tie in to Darien's whole Burning-Fiddle-Hat thing, we're not sure.
Tiffney has moved to Northern
California to pursue an exciting job opportunity with Mozilla. We'll miss seeing her in Chevrons, but we'll look forward to her visits, (and her margaritas!).
Casey,
Tappy,
Stephen and
Stu are Boggards and thus male. But we won't hold that against them. No Boys, we won't hold anything else against you either.
So that's everyone. The Merry Wives as a whole have made some major strides this year. We put out our new album,
Tales from Windsor's Tavern which is available online at
www.cdbaby.com along with our two other albums,
Here's to the Men, and
Our Revels Now Begin. Just a reminder, our CDs make excellent stocking stuffers!
We're also now officially an all-girl band, the only all-female Renaissance Band with instruments in the country! We're very proud of our instrumentalists and how far they've come this past year, and we continue to expand our sound and our collection of instruments! Look for some new sounds coming soon!
We're also extremely gratified that we were able to play at
The Grove of Anaheim, the
World Famous Derby Club, the
Orange County International Street Fair, and the
Galaxy Theater this year, in addition to our regular participation in the
Renaissance Pleasure Faire,
Northern California Renaissance Faire and other small Renaissance Faires throughout the Southland. We would also like to thank our friends,
The World Famous Poxy Boggards and
The Fenians, for letting us start off the night for them this year.
Mostly we would like to thank everyone for a fantastic year! We truly could not have done it without you! Our friends take us places we never imagined, and allow us to grow in ways we never thought possible, and for that, we are truly thankful. Seasons Greetings to you and your families!
Yours Truly,
The Merry Wives of Windsor
