Chart Focus - Hot Beds

Another in a long line of boy/girl musical duos (we think there’s a conveyor belt somewhere), Andy and Lena Hot Beds met through the internet to “manufacture anthems dedicated to the frenzied paranoid claustrophobia of living in London”.

by Tourdates Staff Writer, first published in LondonTourdates #053 ,11th September 2009

The pair say they have an “anytime/anywhere attitude” towards gigging with the band and have played all over the UK. Their infectious single, ‘Frantic’ occupied the music unleashed chart for 7 weeks earlier this year and made number one on Alien Acid Radio’s tracks of 2008.

A scuzzy slice of eighties synth, reminiscent of Kate Bush mixed with Gary Numan, it’s no surprise the song’s been such a hit. Watch out Ting Tings, there’s a new couple in town…

We had a great night at Catch and hope you did as well. New photos have been uploaded to our galleries - check them out!

Thanks to everyone for their continued support with "Leave Everything" on tourdates.co.uk - we're spending a fourth week at the top of the UK Unsigned Chart. This is more than we ever expected to happen and a sign that, hopefully, our music is reaching more people than ever before.

This Wednesday we're headlining Catch in Shoreditch with support from Monster Fight, Ethical Debating Society and Milk. On stage around 10pm and entry is only £3. Contact us if you need any more info. The video's ready, the intro music is prepped and we're planning for a very exciting show!

This week we're also competing in the Exposure Music Awards and we need your votes to help take us to the live event in October. The voting button's on our Tourdates profile (under the influences icons on the left halfway down) and you can vote once a day every day for the next week. It would mean a lot to us if you took the time to click a few times in the next seven days so drop in to www.tourdates.co.uk/hotbeds and lend us your clicks!

Phew, what a lot to get through. The LAST thing we have to say is that we've uploaded our cover of Plastic Passions' "Pass Over" to our Myspace and we'd love to hear what you think of it. The track is for Filthy Little Angels' compilation release out in December featuring FLA acts covering each other's songs. If you want to hear the original take a trip to myspace.com/plasticpassionuk.

Ah, and lastly, and I promise this is lastly, if you're involved with gig nights, webzines, podcasts or any other form of independent media or alike please get in touch for guestlists, CDs, MP3s, interviews or whatever. We really want Hot Beds to keep growing and with your help maybe we just can! New photos from our recent shoot in Clapton can be found in our Myspace gallery.

We're looking for people to review the show and/or interview us so if you write for a music site/publication get in touch (andy_quirk@hotmail.com) and we'll arrange guestlist for you +1 for the show.

Two months since the departure of Hannah, the newly Lena'd up Hot Beds present their first free download to be thrown at the mercy of the Tourdates chart.

For the winners there's an appearance in LTD magazine and airplay on their weekly chart show. For the losers there's the ignomy of knowing you're less popular than some prog rock monsters from South Wales...

The download goes live from Monday August 3rd but is available for streaming right now. Please grab yourself a copy during next week and if you're feeling particularly good share this event by pasting the text into a bulletin/blog/whatever!
