Friends of Rock Solid are invited to join the Newcastle Music Collective group on Facebook. The objective of the NMC is to encourage members of the Newcastle music scene to build and maintain relationships within our eclectic community. It's an open forum rather than a collection of little cliques. It's a non-profit social gathering that may grow to include events, meetings etc. The functions and responsibilities of the group will be established as the numbers go up, so make sure you let your like-minded friends know about this group!
A few tips and guidelines:
* If you have any questions or suggestions, don't keep them to yourself - post them in the discussion board.
* The discussion board may be used for just about any related topics, such as advertising your gigs, organizing a meet-up or simply sharing thoughts about our scene.
* Keep it civil and constructive - don't trash other acts. That's not what this group is about.
* You are allowed to post links to your band site and share events.
* Mingle, dagnabbit!

Sydney three-piece rock outfit mrben will be unleashing their debut album “Night & Day” on the Australian public when they headline at the Annandale Hotel on Wednesday November 19. The album has been four years in the making - in 2005 frontman (and band namesake) Ben Wever teamed up with bassist Leighton Holloway (From The Brink) and drummer Jeff de Araugo (Sarah Blasko). They found an instant creative connection, and their combined talents saw them performing in such respected Sydney venues as the Gaelic Club, the Cat & Fiddle andthe Bridge Hotel. The music industry is buzzing about mrben’s debut album, which has been compared to the Foo Fighters but with an Australian flavour. Don’t miss out on witnessing the powerhouse performance of mrben as they unveil “Night & Day” at the Annandale Hotel.Support acts: Kieran Glasgow, Ngariki and Vaudeville. Tickets $10 pre-sale at the venue website. Presented by Ordio Productions and Rock Solid PR & Fanbase Relations.

(Cross-posted from the Rock Solid PR website blog)
The Rock Solid website has been begging for a makeover for months, and this evening I finally gave in. The logo has also been given a facelift - the 'silhouette chick' looks pretty in pink. Your feedback is always welcome!
The blog has not been forgotten, and in the coming days/weeks/months it will host new content, including industry articles, announcements (more of which you'll be able to access when you sign up to our mailing list - hint hint), important dates to put in your calendar and topic discussions. The first cab off the proverbial rank will be a FAQ, so if you have any questions about Rock Solid you'd like to have answered, please leave a comment.
I'm also very proud to introduce Rock Solid's latest client. mrben is a three-piece rock outfit hailing from Sydney. The brainchild of established musician Ben Wever, mrben's strengths lie within their intricate and intense songwriting. Their music is immediately comparable to the Foo Fighters with a distinctly Australian flavour. Join the mailing list and watch this blog to be updated on the release of their upcoming album "Night & Day".
Rock on!
Kirri
