Thisisbreaks.com Review

After a summer packed full of huge gigs and pretty tasty tracks, most notably their remix of breaks legends Shut Up & Dance's Cream, Afghan Headspin have been hard at work in the studio and it shows. Released this week on their own label Valium is the cheekily entitled Clump Tropicana (don't ask me why cos' I couldn't find a reference to Wham anywhere). The original is described by AH themselves as anti-genre and you can see why, with a beat structure that shifts between breaks and dubstep, a warbling bassline, accordian interludes and a cheeky little mute trumpet that'll have you giggling on the dancefloor.

On the flip west country veterans Ben & Lex show send down an epic bassline roller that has a real touch of class and still manages to use that accordian sample to good effect. Strong release.

'Rave Hat' is full on no prisoners taken breaksy-dubsteppin' crossover bizzness (Think High Rankin does breaks, Schema, Excision etc) with quite possibly the rudest bassline you will hear this year & filth that High Rankin would sell his monster 'tash for. Definitely not for the faint of bowel and weak of bollox, If you like ya tunes to wobble the shit out of your insides then this is the one for you!!

If you like your Rave with a Hat then get in line coz so far it's had plays from the likes of  Darth Vader, Jay Cunning, Barak Obama, Paul Era, Nelson Mandela & The Queen (She fuckin loves it)

On da flip we have one for the more straight up breakz heads with Ben & Lex's remix of Recycle's Ghost in the Shell  (Original, as you may remember, was out earlier in the year on Standard Audio) .

Fat drums, Big reesey bass, swirling synths and dubbed out vocal snippets make for a badass slice of breaks aimed squarely at the dancefloor.

NSB Uncovered showcases the talents of users of the world’s largest and most successful Breaks community, NuSkoolBreaks.co.uk. Everyone involved in this exciting project is a member of this community, from the Producers themselves, to the DJ's behind the mix, to the Artist and the Mastering Engineer.
