I realized I had not blogged here for a little over a year, and my good friend and recent host of my New York days Arny said I had to, because I have to tell people, one or a thousand what I am up to.
So first all the the tings of importance. My current album, "Silver lightning from a black sky" came out in the US thru Burnside distribution and Spain thru A New Label/P.I.A.S on the 18th of November.
It came out as a double album in Japan, silver lightning on one disc and my two first albums on the other. It comes with liner notes about the recording sessions etc, (I will post them here in English), and the album comes in a nice cardboard case and is out on Thistime records. The album has been out in the UK for a while on Signature tunes, I toured the UK once solo (February) and once with a backing band (July) consisting of BZWX ca 2001 (oh tahoe era). Great fun!
We toured with The All New Adventures Of Us who are about to blow up, they were super nice all nine of them and watching them each night was inspiring.
I am now in a cabin in the mountains of western Norway finishing up some music that I will be recording next week in a studio on a remote island just outside Aalesund, Norway. I will be recording with two of my favourite musicians, Bent Sæther (Motorpsycho) on bass and production/various instruments and Jugglo Wall (Whale, Fatboy, Thåstrøm) on drums and production. This is for the next album.
I just came back from a tour of the US which was the best tour I've had in a long time. The tour was set up to promote the release of the album. I got to play with San Francisco based David Torch on drums, L.A boy Jim Bowers on guitar and my friend Per Ivar Stubbrud on bass. David and Jim are and have been in many really good bands on the west coast, and I first met them eight years ago when BZWX toured with their old band Crushstory.
We played L.A twice, SF, Fresno, Reno, Portland twice and San Lois Obispo on the west coast.
All good shows but Reno and Portland were really cool. I got to meet Janet Weiss and Joanna Bolme (Stephen Malkmus & the Jicks, Sleater Kinney, Quasi, Elliott Smith etc) at the show in Portland, I love the last Malmus and the Jicks album and lots of Quasi so it was cool to say hello and they were very nice. I also got to meet my US manager Alex Steinenger, Bill of Burnside distribution, said he loved the album and the show- Shoko, a friend from Tokyo was there also-nice to see her again.
We had a couple of days off in California so we went up into the mountains near Grass Valley and recorded at Station to station ( http://www.myspace.com/stationtostationrecording) with Dana.
Really nice studio where we recorded one new song and Bright Time in the version we had been doing it live.
After the west coast dates David the drummer and I flew to New York to play two shows duo style at
Goodbye blue Monday in Brooklyn and Cake shop in Manhattan. Both shows were great, friendly crowds and after the show in Manhattan I met a few friends from the area and we went out to dinner.
It was great to see Alan and Tim who did Popkid records back in the day. Hadn't seen them in a few years. Chris Avello who booked the shows was super nice, so was all his friends who turned up for the shows. It was a new experience playing as a duo, David has a lot of expression in his drumming and I just fallowed him. Sometimes we were dead quiet and that could lead to a wall of sound/noise-with the songs just being the structures.
I have also been producing bands records ( Human Heat, Stina Stjern, Hiawata, The Little hands of asphalt, Death is not glamorous, The Remarkeble Rocket, The Tzars) the last year and a half full time in my new studio in downtown Oslo. It is called Oslo sound observatory.
Website and such will be up once we are done re-furbishing, expanding and building.
Our plan is to create a different studio, in sound-shape and color.
I will be touring Spain with my live band and Spanish band Muy Fellini in January, dates:
1.07.09 Miércoles 7 de enero en la Sala RockSound de Barcelona
1.08.09 Sala Art Brut, Madrid
Thanks for buying the album, coming to a show or any attention given to me and my friends music!
Happy New Year
Kenneth

So here I am out west producing a record for the band Orango. The studio owned and run by people from the band Margerets, is situated on a very small island Giske just outside Ålesund. The actual studio is in an old boat house, 5 meters from the ocean. The view out of the panorama windows of the recording room looks like a postcard. Orango used to make retro rock, now they make huge pop rock songs with some cool slower mid-tempo numbers. We have done backing tracks so far with a few overdubs. I am the producer, which is all new to me but they seem happy so far. We've been swimming and BBQ'ing every evening after sessions, spoiled. We are going back to Oslo tomorrow but will come back in august to complete the album. Back in Oslo I have been producing/engineering another cool band in my new studio downtown Oslo. The band is LUD and sound like a mix of Midlake, the Band and Sonic Youth. So I will go back to doing that tomorrow. I am also trying to find time to finnish my new solo rec. I did a week of mixing in stockholm a few weeks back but didn't nail the sucker so I think I have to go back in July. New flat, new studio and a new record on the way. Things are looking up (as my godess Judee sang)
Livingroom show this saturday @ Hegdehaugs veien 30!
go swimming!

hello!
So there was an article about me in the very nice plan B, a very nice interview about my livingroom shows and new record. I played my first official livingroom show on the 14th, it was amazing, the place was packed, and there were 6 other acts before me including Harry's Gym, Hiawata etc. I also played a little festival at the legendary club BLÅ. I was on very early but the crowd was very nice and polite, I love it when people actually listen.
Two days ago there was a big Nato summit/meeting in oslo. I was asked to play at the plea for peace or whatshoulmecallit demonstration. About a thousend people gathered in the centre of Oslo, I played 2 songs and some politicians spoke. Then walked over to the big town hall where the meeting was actually being held. Did the same thing there, they put me on top of this square statue and I played for an even bigger crowd. Amazing experiance.
On may 10th I am playing my first show with the new backing band. We have been playing stuff from the new solo rec for a while now and It has been great. The show is at the tiny but great club Last Train, my favourite place in Oslo and the first club BZWX played back in 1995 supporting the Yum Yums. We were almost 10 years under the age limit and scared as hell. Anyway, if you are in the area, make the trip- the other guys play really well and with alot of heart, it's only 60,-kr.

hello!
hello!
I am back in Oslo, have been for a week or so now, after finnishing the last BZWX tour for atleast 3 months or so? I don't know, theres talk about festivals in spain and some more stuff in the UK but we'll see. Anyway, this last tour was really nice, some really cool surprises along the way like John Rogerson AKA Trogg showing up in Sheffield on his birthday! He is a good friend of the band and has been the tour manager on our previous UK tours. The show in Margate was excellent, and we knew it would be. Probably the last time we play the Lido (big old gentlemans club looking place by the sea). About 300 kids and some old friends. I spent yet another night after the party in Pennies loft, in what I hope will be known as Ken's room. Thanks to Mark and Rowan.
Paris was amazing, Laurant, the brother of Remi (Cheap Star) let us borrow his apartement for two days. He had a nice little place with an amazing record collection. We all wore t-shirts and sunglasses strolling down champs ellysees (?) The show in Paris was acoustic at a very cool place called the Pop-in, said to be the indie rock place in town. The show went well, lots of people. Nice! Thanks to Laurent and Remi!
Then back to spain for a few shows. In Vitoria my friend Eduardo and his Underhill Recs Entourage showed up! We chatted after the show and they told me a band called Doubtful out of Pamplona wanted me to stop by the day after to sing on their record. So the day after we drove by Montreal Studios in Pamplona. I sang on two very Dinosaur Jr/Starmarket sounding songs. I had a great time and loved the music. Then we drove 7 hours to St.Feliu. Good show, met Victor- a friend and drummer magician. His brother runs a high profiled studio there, he's had loads of bands from around europe- interesting pair of brothers. Anyway, I was told that Victor had been a fan of BZWX since he was 12. Cute huh?
In Don Benito (a tiny town which is becoming legendary of it's great music scene) we played two shows in two days and I did a short solo set aswell. The people there are amazing, all bands should go there- and probably all bands would be welcome to.
The mini festival in Barcelona wasn't that small. A big crowd danced a little to our 45 min. show which involved no talking (I don't know what came over me)but the sound was really good, great venue in a very shady part of bclna. I talked abit with Dayna Kurtz (new york) after our set, she said she dug it and so I listened to her, and - dug it.
Got back to Oslo to set up the studio in a new location, rehearse with the new solo band and try to find a place to live. Yesterday a magazine called Plan B interviewed me for their next issue. A great chat with a nice chap who sings in a very cool band called Hiawatha.

hello! I am in Sunderland, UK on tour with bzwx. First show was yesterday in Middlesboro. It was put on by Henry from the dartz. We played with some great bands and we ended the evening pretty good I think. Kalua cound´t make it for this tour so Kristian Syvertsen is playing with us. He will be the drummer in my new solo band, yes- multi talented motherfucker:) Driving us is the very handsome and funny Jordi from Alicante, spain. He speaks with the coolest accent and looks like a mix between Keanu Reeves and Will from Will and grace. We have two more weeks of shows in the UK, France and Spain.
Before we left I spent a week recording in Stockholm again. It was a very productive and entertaining week. The last session was dramatic with me in the hospital, the mac breaking down etc. This time things went smoothly and I got to see some shows and hang out with some cool people. Bengtson was there making sure I felt at home, Per shot some great photos of me in his studio and in the recording studio while I was working. these will be used for the sleeve no doubt. Jugglo was amazing as always behind the skins and the console. We did more rock this time.
Steve, my skate and best buddy from way back went with me, so we got to hang out and we saw a some shows. The one that made me sob (almost) was the Fleskvartetten release party @ debaser. They are a famous string quartette who played on the last proper bzwx rec, and on some of my new rec. What I didn´t know was that there would be so many amazing guest artists. I think their new rec has a famous swedish singer on each track. They showed up for the party and we were treated with Robyn, the singer from Popsicle, the Plan and the list goes on. We got to meet and hang out with them after the show too, not Robyn tho :(
I also played a solo show in oslo a few weeks back with Hiawatha. I was really tired and forgot half a song but apart from that I played well and the audience was ace.
I listen to Manic Expressive by Her space holiday everyday to fall asleep.
shout out to brenda and Yamamoto down in Tijuana,mx!

Happy 2007!
I am not going to make a list cause I don't like them:)
But 2006 was great, I have never played that many shows in one year before, so I gave myself a big pat on the back for that on new years eve. Thanks to anyone who drove me, fed me, housed me, bought cds or just came to a show.
I am setting up my studio again in the centre of Oslo, I was very exited to see my 1970 tascam teac mixer again, just hope I remember where everything goes. Later this year when I am done with my solo rec in Stockholm I will record a special (for me at least) EP for internet download only thru Pony Republic (Mexican label), and also produce at least one rec there and hopefully get to score a film by my friend Mark Everson.
Oh, BZWX are touring the UK and Spain in February. I will post dates soon. I am touring the UK solo in May supporting one of my favourite "artists" of the late 90´s. I will put that up too once it's confirmed.
If only we could have some snow and at least 20 below up here so it wouldn't feel like the 3rd month of November in a row!
On the 20th I play a solo show @ mono in Oslo, it's free, Hiawata are playing also- BUT it's an early show, starts at six.

i have had a blast the last week with BZWX in spain. We did two very cool shows, played well and people had a good time. I met the new manager for our affairs here in spain, Bea, very funny girl indeed, Albert the driver was a sweetheart and the weather has been nice. Martin ( follows the band around shooting a documentary about the band ) and I spent some time by the beach skating til´the sun came down on one of our days off. Beats anything. Today is our last day, gonna go get some shopping done first, then go skate some more. I am playing a private b-day party in oslo on the 13th. If anyone wants to come send an email cause i will have a guestlist.

Yeah, still no f.. snow. Anyway, i have been in Oslo/Moss for- how long, 10 days? I have been playing with my new backing band for the new solo rec lately, and it's been so much, well fun isn't the right word, good is more fitting. We are just getting started but i am really exited about how it sounds so far. I am hoping I will get to take them with me on tours in other countries and not have it be just a norway thing. Also, we are looking for people willing to have solo acoustic livingroom shows for my 2007 sofa tour of Oslo.
At the end of january Jugglo and I will be finnishing up my rec. Looking forward to it. If you are in spain, my rock band BEEZEWAX will be playing Madrid and Barcelona next week.
