Another classic from Wolfsheim. Admittedly dark in tone but I'm in one of those moods...

This is one of my favorite Wolfsheim songs, a song that I listen to often as I think of love lost but hopefully to be found again someday.

Cool song from a band called "The Killers." First saw them on Saturday Night Live a few weeks back. Great pop music with some synth-pop elements.

A great song from synth-pop duo Erasure. From their album "Nightbird."

Today's synth-pop classic comes from the British band Heaven 17. "Let Me Go" was one of their biggest U.S. hits in the early 1980s.

A new Wolfsheim song! Well, new to me. I didn't even know this was a single until I discovered it on YouTube a couple of days ago.

I re-joined Blogcritics, an online magazine (and described as a "cabal of sinister writers.")  I wrote for them in 2005 and 2006, something over 110 articles, mainly reviews of movies, television, and music, with some essays thrown in for good measure.  I have two articles up now, a review of Blue Man Group's DVD How To Be a Megastar and the television show The Moment of Truth.  Check them out and let me know what you think! My goal is to write at least one article a week.

For a couple of years I pursued freelance writing, and while I never landed a paying gig, I did get my work published in a lot of places.  I did a lot of political writing, and I also did a lot of writing on movies, television, books and the media.  If you ever want to check out my non-political ramblings, an archive can be found at Blogcritics, written between 2005-2006.

If you are really wanting to see the political stuff let me know and I'll point you in the right direction...but don't say I didn't warn you.  Let's just say if you are fond of President Bush you will not want to read my political stuff.

Folding @ Home is a project of Stanford University.  It's goal is to use the distributed computing concept to "fold" proteins in order to discover cures for diseases like Alzheimer's, ALS, Parkinson's, and many others.  To do this requires tremendous computing power -- computers have to run simulations of the protein folding process in order for researchers to better understand what happens when a protein does not fold itself correctly.

That's where you come in!

You see, distributed computing is a way to link thousands of computers together by having users run a tiny piece of software.  You can run the application while doing whatever you normally do on your computer.  I'm running it now as I type this.  The idea is to use "spare" computer processing time to run and compute the simulations.  So, check out Stanford's Folding @ Home page, and download a client.  The client is supported on many platforms, from Windows XP to Linux, and even on the Playstation 3! You can also get a client that runs on multiple processors if you have a dual-core or quad-core system, and there is even a client that will run on certain high-end video cards.  Whatever your system configuration, you can join thousands of other folks to help the Stanford researchers better understand proteins and, who knows, it might be YOU who folds the protein that reveals the cure for cancer!

I'm part of the Guru 3D team, so if you want to be a part of our team, when you install the client, input team 69411.

Part 2 of George Carlin's bit on airline announcements. George uses many colorful four-letter words, so if you're easily offended by profanity, don't watch!
