Hey so it's not an official Blue Giant show, but Anita and I are playing a round of many tunes at the Jealous Butcher showcase for MFNW.
I believe the details are:
Saturday, September 19th. @ Slabtown
perhaps we'll see you there?

So during the time spent in the van with headphones on and notebooks out, I've sifted through the better part of about 30 Blue Giant tunes that we're considering for the full length.
We roll tape in a week and are extremely stoked!

Hi myFriends,

Had a few emails / posts about the chords to "Target Heart". I'm pretty bad at writing out tab - but can tell you this,...the only chords in the entire song are:

C, G, Am, F

you can pick around and figure out which goes where. Hope this helps and thanks for playing as well as listening!

Hey myFriends,

Again,...thank you to everyone who stayed sober long enough to enjoy some music with us at SXSW in Austin this year. We had a ball.

Here's what Paste said!

So, for now - we're going through the painful process of whittling down a varitable truck load of tunes to construct our first proper full length out of.  We'll be recording and mixing then through the quality control panel and then out to you.
This process is the most fun for me.

Yours in acronyms - kr / bg

Hi myFriends,

We're excited to announce we'll be playing with M.Ward here in Portland on March 9th. Our good friends in Tu Fawning will be on stage that night as well & it's looking to be a scorcher of an evening.
Hope to see you there!

Cheers - BG.

Hello,

There is a pretty cool online show we did on Oregon Public Broadcasting that's up. Check it at:

http://www.opbmusic.org

The always lovely Corin Tucker stopped in to sing her duet with us. In traditional Corin style, she came in - put her purse down, killed it, hugged everyone, then split. A whirlwind of talent, that one. There's also a few songs no one has heard before now on there.

Alright, we leave for tour next week, hope to see you on the open road.

Current mood:  electric
Hi myFriends,

Our new EP will have two additional tracks on it for the vinyl release. Our good friends at Jealous Butcher Records are putting out the 12" on 180 gram heavy duty vinyl.
We wanted to post one of the tracks "Wasn't Born To Follow" up here on the myEtherWeb so you could get a preview. Most of the time "bonus tracks" = throw-aways, or b-sides and these turned out to be anything but. We're happy with how they turned out & can't wait to hear it on wax!

Alright then.

myFriends, myFans & myFamily

There's big things brewing in the land of Blue Giant; we're incredibly excited and wanted you to be the first to know! For starters, we're bowing to popular demand--YOUR demand, really--and releasing a very limited-edition EP on both CD and better yet, 180-gram vinyl. We had intended to hold off releasing any music till the New Year, but a groundswell of support from friends made it clear that this project just couldn't and shouldn't wait.

We've labored long and hard to make this music a reality, working late into the night at Kevin and Anita's secretive backwoods studio, and we'd be honored if you'd be one of the first to give it a spin. You can purchase the EP from our friends at buyolympia.com; while the CD or LP won't be shipped till early next year, you'll be able to download all the tracks instantly.

What's more, the good folks at eMusic.com approached us with an offer we couldn't refuse: Every month they hand-pick two unsigned bands to highlight, and, well, we got hand-picked! (As opposed to "finger-picked?") In any event, it's an incredible opportunity to spread our music far and wide. If you're not already a subscriber, do yourself a favor and check out the site: It does a really splendid job at finding obscure and independent music to share! You can find more here:

We so appreciate your love and support, and we couldn't be happier that our music is finding its way out into the world!

Much love, and many thanks,

Kevin, Anita, Evan, Seth, and Chris

Last night was our final night of tour. What a night!
The talented men and women of the Portland Cello Project opened the evening with a string soaked bout of gorgeous tunes...then joined us for what would be nothing short of one of the best times of my life. Having a 9 piece cello group accompany your songs is magic beyond description.
The Cello Project joined Blue Giant, and our guest - the exquisite Corrina Repp, for the entire set. We ended with a gentle and fond farewell to a tour we won't soon forget.
When the bus was loaded, we took a victory lap through Voodoo Doughnuts and a celebratory bacon maple.
Farewell Portland, we've loved our time with you. We'll be back!
cheers - kevin

Hey Again,

Just getting rolling this morning from last nights mayhem. Coffee magic.
We finally found our way through downtown Portland last night and located "Barrack-Space". Very cool digs.
An amazing band called Norfolk & Western opened the evening. They were fantastic,..sort of like Pink Radar Bros Floyd. A bands band and great people to boot. Fantastic! We snatched their drummer, Rachel, to join us for our set.
A great sweaty time was had, and to end the evening Mr. Sam Coomes joined us for a few of his chosen tunes. Watching Sam and Anita go "dueling leads" on The Who's "Heaven & Hell" was nothing short of guitar insanity. In short, our 2nd night of tour was amazing! Thanks Sam & Norfolk for joining us...it was incredible.

Today we cross back over the Willamette River via Burnside to the Douglas Fir Lounge. We have put away the amps and distortion and will end this tour on a beautiful note with the Portland Cello Project.
Hope to see you there.
Cheers - kevin
