We've had tons of requests for where "I Don't Know" is available.  This is a track off our forthcoming album which will be released in the Fall, and won't be available until then. But I put it up for Download for all the folks wondering where they can get it.  More tracks to go up soon as we're nearing completion of our recording.

Just click the download link in the music player. If you have any questions or if it doens't work you can email us contact@thesheepdogs.com

I just realized I hadn't put anything up about this yet but better late than never

We are quite excited that we were nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award this year for "Independent Album of the Year" for our last album, The Sheepdogs' Big Stand.

If you are a member of one of the Western Canadian music associations and haven't voted yet, you can go to https://wcmavoting.objectified.com/ and vote.  We appreciate the support.

We recently found out that we were nominated as Artist of the Year for the Verge Music awards.  If your reading this we'd really appreciate your support by voting for us.  It really only takes a few seconds.  Go to http://www.thevergeonline.com/vma/voting.php and select the Sheepdogs in the first category.  You also need to pick an album of the year to make your vote count which is really easy though cause there's some great Canadian albums in there from the last year.

In other news, we've been recording away continuing to work on our new album.  We're going to be posting some more new songs very soon as well as putting up some Fall tour dates for the Toronto area shortly.

Thanks again for your support

Current mood:  crunk
It's been a very long time since we've posted much, just a quick update for anyone out there that's curious.

After a really busy first half of the year, which included two tours that covered a large part of Canada and a trip down to Austin, a couple great show's in Saskatoon (including last Friday's show with the Deep Dark Woods) and some general good times, it's time to move on to more endeavors.

A few month's back we recorded a couple of tracks in our jam space to see what they would sounds like and we were extremely happy with them. (Soldier Boy and I Don't Know are posted) We've now decided to record an album ourselves to continue our tradition of putting out an album every year.  Next Monday we're moving all of our equipment to a space that we will lock ourselves in for the summer and see what we come up with by fall.

Aside from the recording we're playing a handful of shows throughout Saskatchewan and Alberta during the summer:

June 27th @ Sled Island Festival in Calgary - 9:00 at Verns with Tricky Woo

July 3 & 4th @ The Rose and Crown in Banff

July 10th & 11th @ the Lakeview Bar in Waskesiu

July 24th @ the Gateway Music Festival in Bengough, SK

Aug 8th @ Amigo's in Saskatoon for the Fringe Festival

and more To be annouced for late summer / fall

Also I posted a video / song of "Down by the River" by Neil Young that we did last summer at Lakehead University Radio station. This was for a great radio program our friend Joey does called "Feelin' Young", a great show for any fans of Neil Young. You can hear more at http://www.feelinyoung.ca

So us Sheepdogs have begun a new recording venture. This time it's all on our own in our basement and things are sounding raw and rocking.  Everybody Shake and Shimmy!

Check out Soldier Boy, our newest recorded tune, and keep checking back in the next couple months for more new songs.

live in Winnipeg, opening for the Perpetrators @ Ozzie's, May 2008

Monday, October 29, 2007

It's a crisp fall day here in Winnipeg, or as we call it 'Saskatoon East'.  Let's take a look at what we've been up to lately:

We've just recently completed a tour that took us from Vancouver Island to Montreal.  All told, it was 2 months of fairly steady gigging.  Needless to say, we're feeling pretty damn good about our live show.

Our showcase at the Western Canadian Music Awards couldn't have gone any better.  We played to a rowdy crowd at the Brunswick and enjoyed the parties with our friends.

Finally, our second full-length album is nearly completed.  It's looking to be around 12 tracks long and a title has been tentatively chosen.  Recorded live in a sound stage, it's got a cool big room sound, especially on those drums.  'Let it All Show' on the myspace right now is the first taste of things to come.

Oh my, it's been a good couple days for us Sheepdogs. We've spent a day and a bit holed up in the studio pounding out demos for our upcoming album.  Firstly, I Wanna give a big shout out to the Sask Arts board for their generous grant.

Secondly, I wanna let everyone know how well these demos have been going.  We've been recording fast and loose and with some of the best results we've ever gotten.

Thus far we've demo-ed 8 tunes:

Waiting for the Morning - Creeps - In My Sights - Push it Along - Let it All Show - Yes it Is - Moving On - "New Song"

Before we record the final versions of these songs, we plan to take them on the road and get them nice and worn in for final recording in late August.

Speaking of...our summer has fast filled up.  Dates are still filling in, but there are plenty of shows already.  If you're living in Saskatoon, be sure to come out August 3rd and 4th at Lydias for what will be our first show in our home town since merry old junofest.

Yes Yes Y'all,

It's nearly summer and our schedule is filling up.  Highlights from the months ahead include an appearance at the fantastic Ness Creek music festival (July 19) as well as a swell weekend in Winnipeg  (June 29/30) with our boys the Deep Dark Woods.

Be sure to check out the video we've posted. It's from April of this year, a show we did just after all the Junofest hoopla, that turned out to be a damn good show.  Big ups to Brad Proudlove for his fine video work.

It may have taken a couple months but we finally internet-ized Trying to Grow.  You can order it in CD form from CDBABY and  also download  the album on iTunes  .

As far as the Sheepdogs, we're working on new songs and booking dates for the late summer and fall across Canada.  We also plan to have a new album out later this year if everything goes as planned.
