Finishing up 2008 (8 months from our inception) with a fun show at the Bazaar Cafe
In San Francisco.
Opening up the evening were IWTB member The Psychotherapists (Imagine the Ramones at 13). The PT's were showcasing 6 original songs that the performed for a packed house,
The boys were nice enough to let me play a set of my music and the best news was
we were able to raise some money for the I.W.T.B. program and the boys sold some of their home made cd's having another fun paid gig. :-)

Were looking forward to alot more showcase performances from IWTB members and adding additional programs on to our 2009 program. *Check the schedule for upcoming performances....

REGISTER NOW FOR-ROCK JAMS WORKSHOP: Beginning musicians 11-13 yrs old who want to try different instruments, play easy cover songs, Punk, Rock, & Hip Hop
Kids learn to take the first steps toward playing in a rock band.
Recommend 1 year of lessons *guitar/keys/drums* to get the most out of Jams. -
COST: $180
Workshops meet in Berkeley after school 4pm for 1.5 hrs on either:
Tuesday Beginning Sept 9th-Oct 14th
OR
Thursday Sep 11-Oct 16th
Kids will work in a 4-5 person band environment learning songs they like followed by a performance at a community venue.

EVENT PLANNER:

We are planning our annual benefit concert and need a experienced event planner to volunteer their services to help organize this years event.

Responsibilities:
Securing venue & adding a headlining performer for annual benefit concert .
You will need strong writing and project management skills and the ability to prioritize and work independently on initiatives in an accurate, collaborative and confidential manner.


Qualifications
• Proven success in event planning/project management skills an asset. bonus if you have not for profit experience.
Think out of the box to find solutions for organizing a event with a short planning timeline
• Interest and proven experience in volunteerism at a committee leadership capacity.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask to meet deadlines
• Excellent planning, management, delegation and follow up skills.
• Have access to computer with internet, computer skills required
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

MUSIC INSTRUCTORS:
Providing music to kids that THEY like. whether they are playing songs they like to listen to, or create on their own music we workat a level appropriate for their skill level.
Encouraging creativity, and to experiment while learning how to listen read chords and recognize song structure
. Most importantly, students learn to work together and be supportive of one another.

HOSTING A SPECIAL FUNDRAISING EVENT:
Would you like to invite a few friends over to learn about I'm With a Band? to either become a volunteer or a donor to support the program? Or would you ask folks to make a donation at your performance to support keeping music in kids lives? EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS! These events are being hosted in locations ALL AROUND the U.S. all that is required is the ability to let folks know that music programs for kids are being eliminated and THEY can contribute any amount or any rock band instrument in good working condition to the program. Come to a 1.5 hour group workshop on 4/30 from 6-7:30 pm at my home studio in Berkeley:
This workshop will focus on the essential framework in Lyrics for song, spoken word performance pieces, & poetry.


You'll work together in a small group setting stimulating creative energy using exercise tools to create a unmistakable & unforgettable title & start to your song, poem,or performance piece. Learn a different approach to pull your listeners into the center of the action with your unique individual ideas:


-Workshop Tuition $50
-If you bring a friend to the workshop your tuition is $40
*private individual 1 hr lessons are also available.
