This story relates to several principles that are important to me.
First is the violence (her?), and the cheating (him?). I have the same thoughts to these very different allegations. Now whatever you believe happened with Tiger and/or his wife, fine. I certainly don't know, or even speculate. That's not really my point. Here's what I do know. When we are born in this world, God gives us a gift. We aren't born with a bank account, or a house. But we ARE born with property: a body. My body is mine. And no one can take it away (morally). It's my permanent property. But here's the catch. With this great gift, it's my moral responsibility to care for it. So I can't let someone wail on me. Even if I do something wrong. And I can't wail on someone else. No matter what they do. Care means for feeding it, for exercising it, for protecting it, and for sharing it with the same spirit as it was given to me, as the ultimate gift of love (and nothing less).
The other item of this story (Tiger) is when your relationship goes south, what to do, and who to tell. There are no wrong answers other than not following your heart or lying. I do whatever I am going to feel comfortable with and not regret. I know that any decision has consequences good and bad. And I try to remember to be mature if it doesn't work out the way I'd hoped; meaning accept that I made the best choices that I knew how and not spend too much time second guessing. Hold my chin up, move forward, and/or move on. Do you tell your friends, your family.. in this case, the media, the police? Some say protect the relationship by not revealing the dirt, so others will respect your couple-ness. -- Others say tell everyone everything, so we can all learn from each other, and live honest lives; that there is no value in secrets. -- I'm not a fence-sitter, but I think we should all do whatever we want. Just stay honest. That doesn't mean you have to share everything with everyone. But don't lie or be deceptive. If you don't want to reveal something, just say you don't want to share that, rather than making something up. That's honest.

According to Christian Science Monitor, the Republican base will 'stand on principle' to defend... racism. The article then links to "Who will save the GOP?" which has no mention of the libertarian movement or Ron Paul (of course).
I blame stupidity, not a conspiracy. But it is amusing (or sad) that if there were a conspiracy, the story would be written the exact same way!
I have faith that thinking people interpret the press (whether Fox or CSM or whoever) as being irrelevant. I'm not concerned with what I cannot control. What I can do is stay involved and make the case for freedom. Whether it sticks is up to everyone else.
I like to think these two CSM articles are an example of the last breath of a dying drone generation.

Small When I was small, I was holding my life. Slow, steady; unexciting, but guaranteed. A sure thing. Naive and unprotected, my life was quickly spotted by the greedy and selfish; and taken away. I was abandoned by elders; left holding a broken puzzle.
Medium Time to finish school and march forward and forget about that. It's too complex and confusing to understand. Maybe it's not so important anyway. Whatever that was, it's done. Now what? Discovery! It's important if I want to turn it around. Whether I can help others, it depends on me! I still have a whole another life ahead of me. I can be thankful I once held that life. It led me to appreciate life's value; I now have more to offer.
Warrior Growth is going to take awhile. But I'm pretty smart. I'll figure it out.
Buy. Sell. Even. Buy. Sell. Even. hm. What's the point of this? I'm having a good time, but is this all there is? What is it I am missing that I don't need this grand thing to be happy, when there are so many fun people everywhere to meet, and solitude is so underappreciated?
Well, I'm still alive. And I am learning a little bit about how untouched people work. It's amusing I guess.
But if I'm missing something, maybe I should concentrate on what is left instead of what is missing. What was NOT taken from me? And can I let myself want? And is there even anything of worth here -- worthy of want? And WHO the F am I?
... ... It's been a bumpy ride.
Window Shopping Then one day, walking home from work, there it is in the window: ART. The most beautiful painting ever. I was captivated yet careful to look from every angle: up, down, ... RAINBOWS.
What's different? Me or the painting? I'm excited to work out it's absolutely both.
But the best things are never that easy. The store was closed and the painting was tagged SOLD.
I walk home. As I continue to everyday. I pass the store, only occasionally looking up. It is in the window. But I don't really let myself look. I knew it had a happy home on day one.
Then one day, the door opens.
"Excuse me", the saleswoman interrupted, "I couldn't help but notice you so admire the painting. Are you interested?"
"Yes !"
"Oh. That's too bad. Because it's not for sale."

And I proceed to pass by it every day, hanging in a store window, though not for sale.

HOLDING ON Confused, I wonder what would happen if I offered everything I am plus more.
I'm not going to come up with that easy. But I heart this painting. It's time to roll the dice and roll big.
Go Lottery!
There was a reason nothing else felt worth it. I've trained for this. But now it's time to run the race. Showing up prepared isn't enough. I'm going to have to take some chances after that.
I'm laying out my clothes, printing a map, and setting the alarm for morning sunrise. I am first in line to invest further in myself, using all the capital I have, my entire life savings.
This is a no brainer. I'm closing my bank account to buy my lottery ticket.
Sunrise
The scratch-off has ten numbers. I scratch off the first two... Roses!
The odds of getting the third number, much less all ten, are exponentially more difficult.
I've got to scratch off that third number...
I start at the corner...
I can't tell.. It could be right. It could be wishful thinking...
DEEP BREATH The sales woman is concerned for my well being:
"Look. Can you really afford to lose your life's savings? Reeallllly? How will you feel if you lose? You can't consider the lottery."
"Nothing feels nervous these days," I grin. "The painting makes every decision easy; and happy!"
But she remains serious. "If you go home to see what the next number is, when you come back, the painting could be gone. Or even if it goes to auction, you could be outbid there too. Your ticket is worth something. Why not sell your ticket before you scratch off another number?"
Yes, my ticket is worth more now that two of the numbers are good. But here's the thing. It's only worth what I can buy. And I'm bidding for this painting. It's my dREam. Why would I give up the cover art for whatever is on page two? I've seen all the angles. I've even used mirrors. This painting is all rainbows, and I surmise -- a pot of gold for the one who risks adventures to its end.
FAIR WARNING "You're acting illogical to yourself. You could do lots of things with that wherewithall." Well yeah. But self logic went out the window. This is art. I've never envoked logic with art. That's the whole point. That's how art is defined: when logic no longer matters.
Art is priceless! As the store saleswoman, I know she appreciates this. She's devoted so much of her life to this. This painting wasn't randomly trusted here. She knows her product.
DOUBLE DOGG DARE ME? I'll scratch off another number right now. I could only regret not trying. So smile and toss me another coin. I've heard of rainbows that go forever.

Yesterday on Meet the Press they reviewed the declining prospects for the Republican Party. And the conclusion was that no one can revive the G.O.P and challenge Barack Obama in 2012. They assessed the prospects of all the possible candidates...
But there was one glaring omission. Guess who?
The one man who predicted the economic collapse. The one man who suggested that the Federal Reserve needed an audit itself. The one man who warned that electing Obama or McCain was the same thing, because there would still be a war where we don’t need one, the lobbyists would still rule, and the government would still intrude. The one man who was first to recognize and announce that Republicans had lost their way, their heart, their soul. The one man who raised $32 million. The one man who would shake Capitol Hill to their foundations.
He is not dead, much as the press would have you believe. Tim Russert is dead. Michael Jackson is dead. Farrah Fawcett is dead. Ron Paul lives.
Dear Ron,
We're sending you backups! Liberty is on the way!

There is a very strong, inspiring, positive spirit calling her. A dramatic call to action. A land of possibility for her loftiest goals.
She drives to the lake to gather her thoughts, and sees cliffs. But they extend horizontal as much as they extend vertical. And they are smooth instead of jagged. Like this... ________________ ______________________________ __________________________________________ _______________________________________________________
These are the mystical cliffs she has heard about in Austin. They have always sounded larger than life to her. They hold a lot of history. Many lives have been altered here. Not all positive. It's where all the cool people hang out. And she never knew where they were. And now that she knows, it still doesn't matter. She's present, but a spectator from below where she won't be tempted to jump. But she can enjoy their beauty. The magic cliffs from above are somehow not for her. But she delights in today's scene, watching the care-free cliff-jumpers in their modest swimsuits; the Americana imagery and joy.
People are jumping off routinely; the more skilled are skating across some levels. By not jumping as far horizontal, they slide across one of the lower levels, and then jump; or slide several levels, and then jump... The more levels of sliding they do, the more impressive and 'smooth' it looks.
Suddenly, she senses fear. The water is dirt brown, same color as the cliffs. There is no telling what is underneath. The number of horizontal levels are lessening before her eyes. That means a further vertical drop for those above. She walks closer, safely from the bottom where it's dry, to see if everything is ok for others. Two police officers see her. They are wearing very light color uniforms which surprises her. She remembers that she is in a remote area where the unpredictable can happen. Sunglasses cover the officers' eyes. The officers try to shut her out of the area and angrily tell her she cannot watch.
With all the people jumping, she becomes nervous as to why the officers are focused on her. Is it because only she comprehends the waters' dangers?
Uncharacteristically, she responds strongly. For every step the officers take towards her, she takes two towards them. When the officers raise their voice, she raises hers louder. The officers give up on the idea that she will obey, so they create a temporary crowd control structure to block her view.
She tries peaking through the cracks and feels a compelling need to break through.
Unexpectedly, there is no resistance, and she makes her way out. As she nears the water, she is awashed in still calmness. All has vanished but one, casually swimming. Colors are natural, not dark or bright. Birds and wildlife are blissfully unaware, unconcerned. Normal. Peace and quiet is abound. The world is 'available'. It is the right time to move on with goals.
Ready and set, she goes.
Most of our days are not clear, not thoughtful, not lived with intension, not articulate. oday begins a tsunami of thought. Her day is clear, lived with intension, articulate. With removed cynicism and second-guessings, the world's lights are turned on. She is being rooted on.
The doors are open and she walks through them. Love carries her through.

Children have such great imaginations, they won't be able to comprehend that this is 'new'. But imagine the opposite.. how unbelievable this will feel like to a senior citizen. Mind-boggling.
Neat huh? And you thought this was going to be about our over-reaction to North Korea.

Because of my political educational battles, every now and then I feel the need to reassure my friends that I remain the eternal optimist that I have always been.
No fear.
Our resources for seeking truth and organizing are stronger than ever; and I trust in my (and your) ability to lead the way. Anyway, love conquers all.
I am full of rest, sun, and sparkle. The path could be bumpy, but we're gonna be alright.

I was disappointed by my church who asked me to spend Memorial service honoring the volunteerism of soldiers who risk their lives 'so we can be safe'. I am not comfortable that my church is preaching the 'idealism' of war.
War does not create peace. And it is the opposite of Christianity teachings: love and peace. But it is no wonder as God of DoubleThink is the prevailing attitude of the day. For example: "I just want you to know that, when we talk about war, we're really talking about peace." - George W. Bush
"The role of the military is to fight and win war and, therefore, prevent war from happening in the first place." - George W. Bush
Unbelievable these times and how perverse our thinking. That these thoughts are commonplace and spun as somehow logical.
I suggest we truly help soldiers by challenging whether foreign occupation and torture is necessary, and whether the fallen have died in vain; and question the Federal Reserve system that creates the financial incentives for all of us to participate in war. (We are all soldiers.)
And anyway, we cannot call our forces an 'all-volunteer military'. Our military is paid. Soldiers are seduced by (Federal Reserve) money.
There is no other instance where we are paid for work and referred to as a volunteer.
From the dictionary:
volunteer - a person who works for an organization without being paid. What percentage of soldiers would continue to 'volunteer' if the government stopped paying? Describing our military as 'volunteer' is a perversion of words. It's the only accepted application of the word 'volunteer' to describe a paid position. I'm curious as to the origin. We must have been told this by some authority so many times that we started believing it. Soldiers should not be judged for acting in their own self interest (it's no different than paying income tax); but lets not confuse enlisting with volunteerism or even idealism. Instead of idealism inspiring universal soldiers, idealism could inspire universal champions of liberty. And what about soldiers who later discover the principles of peace and love? Why are the volunteers required to commit to 8 years? If they voluntarily enter the service, why can they not voluntarily leave? Nothing will end war unless the people themselves refuse to go to war.” -Albert EinsteinAnd where do soldier checks come from? Every hour spent working in the private sector, a certain percentage is given to the military. So as civilian producers, we are just as much a soldier as any enlistee! A civilian's choice is to risk jail and further forced property loss for not paying for war. Yikes! This doesn't sound voluntary. What to doI can't be alone in feeling extremely troubled by the moral decision this presents me. I want to serve man, and my self interests, and make the most of the talents blessed to me; but I also want to stop working because of how my productivity is being applied to support foreign occupation. The choices forced upon us have nothing to do with freedom. This is slavery.I am responding under duress with a bit of compromise. I continue to produce, and then direct my gained resources towards efforts to end eternal war. Campaign For Liberty is an effective group who shares my goal, and uses their resources with wisdom and care. Members of Campaign for Liberty in Austin are using Memorial Weekend as an opportunity to support a soldier outreach program. Soldiers tell volunteers how the military completely screwed them in one way or another. They say the army made promises that were never meant to be kept. It's amazingly depressing. It's no wonder that our current group in uniform are undergoing some of the worst rates of suicide ever in the military. The program includes a network of doctors and lawyers, many working pro bono, as well as moral support and guidance. They also offer a support system for active duty resisters from soldiers who have already done it. Many of the soldiers are drinking heavily or doing drugs to cope with being back from deployment. We've seen behavior start to heal because they have a place to get help instead of being thrown in the brig. Several soldiers are there almost every day. The outreach helps soldiers take a stand against being deployed to war when they discover it is immoral and illegal. Soldiers learn they can do something positive with their situation and act on it. The outreach is a donation-only non profit group. When you walk in, it's warm, inviting and a refuge from the depressing reality of every day life at Fort Hood. Campaign For Liberty members are there to show their support for the soldiers at Fort Hood, to show the soldiers they do have the right to speak out against the war, and to show their commitment to peace. I am thankful that my church encourages me to speak openly, and does not pressure me to be someone that I am not. Regardless of what was said during service on my behalf, no soldier is participating in foreign occupation for my safety. For whatever is happening around me or to me, I am free.

I'll link to the petition in just a moment, but first I want to write about: * Why I think it's so important * How far this battle has moved forward
HR 1207 will help to reveal where the Fed is funneling taxpayer money which is not subject to normal governmental Freedom of Information requests.
The Fed and US Treasury have put $12.8 TRILLION on the line in stimulus packages, bailouts, TARP programs and whatever other secret schemes. That amount nearly equals the Gross Domestic Product for the ENTIRE US economy!
The Federal Reserve pays using money printed right out of thin air. Until?
Until the dollar completely collapses. Or -- as Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner admitted recently to the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) – until we devolve into a global currency -- under the control of a global central bank.
We can stop it by exposing it. Let’s audit them.
Ron Paul’s AUDIT THE FED Bill actually has a chance of passing -- if we turn up the pressure on Congress. As it stands right now, there are 190 cosponsors of Ron Paul’s AUDIT THE FED Bill. In fact, hearings in the House could take place any day, as Chairman Frank of the Financial Services Committee has publicly promised to move the bill that far.If we can FORCE Nancy Pelosi and the leadership in Congress to hold a vote, we will have a win/win situation on our hands no matter which way the vote goes. Either the bill passes, or can you imagine the political bloodbath at the ballot box in 2010 if a Congressman somehow lost trillions of taxpayer dollars and voted against even looking for the money? Politicians of both parties need to be put on notice now – either take action to rein in an out of control FED, or face the wrath of angry Patriots. So please agree to submit your petition urging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to schedule debate and a roll call vote on Ron Paul’s AUDIT THE FED Bill! Petitions work.Austin was recognized by Washington D.C. for turning in more petitions than any Congressional District in the country to audit the Federal Reserve. And then our Congressman decided to co-sponsor. So sign the petition and then contact your Congressman to get HR 1207 to the House floor for a vote. Alan Smith Campaign For Liberty Local Coordinator

The big bankers enjoy this ping-pong between the left and the right which distracts us from the real issue. The Federal Reserve refuses to account for TRILLIONS in loans! Here is what one trillion dollars looks like. The Federal Reserve’s meetings are a secret because they fear coming clean would result in an anti-Fed firestorm. From a full-scale audit, we would learn who...- Creates constant economic crises - Destroys the middle class - Destroys our currency An audit does nothing more than expose the truth. Which Congressmen can't even vote for that? Let's find out! The Congressmen who don't sign on either aren't educated or they have something to hide. Everyone in the country should follow this bill as a basis for voting in 2010.
* The game of ping-pong runs much deeper than politics. Is there a game of ping-pong in your life that is distracting you from your potential, and/or from your ability to love and be loved? * Be careful. Some games are won by not playing. (Matthew Broderick reference anyone?)

This is from today's New York Times: “There are times when you can afford to redecorate your house, and there are times when you have to focus on rebuilding its foundation.”
- Mr. Obama said as he released an outline of the budget for the next fiscal year.So there are times to spend more money than we have... and there are times to spend more money than we have ? ! When exactly do we create the savings so either such thing is possible? If the government won't cut back spending during a recession -- then when? Putting that responsibility on children (long term debt) who do not vote and do not own homes, is immoral.I wish our government would stop, but since it won't, our Austrian family saw this coming a mile away, and we have prepared for the predictable outcome. (see blog, Feb 7: ' Jobs are NOT important! ')
Bring it on -- I'm 'boy scout' prepared and sleeping well at night.

The setting is an authentic cowboy ranch. Towards the end of a large party, a rugged man threatens me for my money. I respond with begging and crying. I'm full surrender. My emotion is real.
The man mocks my shame and tries to lead the party-crowd in laughter. The crowd is paralyzed with tension and chooses not to react other than to gawk.
The thief tosses me his knife. With his knife in my hand, he taunts me to defend myself against him. I am able to quickly assess this ultimate test.
His first motive is to learn about me. He will discover whether I have the will to fight when I'm provided a better chance. If I defend myself, he can't let me live. But he has the wisdom not to offer me any real chance. He is probably carrying a gun. Stealing is cowardly. He doesn't want a fair fight.
His second motive is to survive the crowd. Had he not offered me his knife, the town would have no respect for him, and he would live in fear of retribution. But now, no matter what I do, the crowd will behave as bystanders.
Flight or fight, I become a victim -- and the villain survives both me and the crowd.
So I choose flight AND fight. Fake tears and pathetic behavior are easy for me to sustain, having honestly felt the same things earlier. I speak words of not wanting to fight, not caring about my possessions, and begging for my life back. I again feel the shame as he laughs to the crowd, but this time I know it will end differently.
He allows me to leave. I scamper off, a little quicker with each step, incase he changes his mind. My body language catches his attention, as he begins to wonder why I have the strength to gain speed. He senses I do value my life enough to make sure I get away. He begins to realize his original assessment of me might have been wrong. But his feeling of unsureness and confusion works against him. He does not act immediately to his instincts, and this provides me just enough time to get away. I turn the corner around a barn and quickly scale it's tall roof.
Centered above, the tables have completely turned. I am completely safe. Now whether I let him leave is up to me.
As he tries to leave in confusion, I decide to shoot. I aim to kill and am successful. The villain dies in the presence of the crowd. The crowd remains silent as before.
I arise haunted by the finality to my decision. It was over. Was my decision morally correct? I had defeated my enemy once and for all, and earned back the town's respect.
But I also had the choice of letting him go. I will have to live with my decision. Can I?
I have received several reactions. I was delighted to receive this one which made me feel understood. Yes, the crowd.
The bystanders who refuse to do nothing represent a type of abandonment, do they not? They are in your presence, they see you have been challenged by the villain and yet they choose to do nothing to help you. They might as well not be there except that in the end, you need them to earn respect for the choice you made. However they are neither for you nor against you - they do not assist you however they also refuse to mock you as the villain wishes they would. Certainly you've been given a choice and it seems the stakes are quite high. Life or death? Does it get any heavier than that? So in the dream you know you must act, but how? Indecision, choices, and it seems some ambivalence about what you actually want. What do you really want? And are the sacrifices you will undoubtedly have to make worth it in the end? You consider the consequences carefully, you don't simply act without thought. It's not just about survival - yes, you decide to fight for your life but the reaction of the crowd is also a key factor here. Why do you care what others think of you when your life is in danger? Why are you not just focused on yourself? I think of all the times one has license to be selfish it is when someone wants to kill them and they are deciding how to act. By scampering away and climbing on top of the roof, you removed yourself from the danger but you also remove yourself from the crowd. Do you feel alone? The bystanders are just that - they are witnesses to your crisis but they are not a part of your life. You are among others and yet you are by yourself. Neither here nor there. Where do you really belong? You seem concerned that the villain will outlive the townspeople. Why have concern for their feelings and their wellbeing when they have no concern for yours? The villain misjudges your character and your ability to defend yourself. But it seems that others misunderstand you as well. How are you coming across to the world? You go through a series of negative emotions - most notably terror and shame - but arrive at a solution in the end. However your action does not give you all you wanted. The crowd that should be reacting somehow to your amazing accomplishment remains silent. No one congratulates you or asks if you are okay. It's like living in a movie where the audience can see you but not interact with you. You say in the end that the townspeople respect you for your decision. How do you know this when they haven't said anything to you? And finally, the murder. You kill the one who wanted to kill you. Despite securing your life, you doubt this decision. You worry about the morality of it and if there could have been a better way. Seems like a reasonable reaction to being put in that position in the first place. However as I am sure you have noted, what triggers the entire episode is the villain giving you a knife. He could have killed you on the spot but instead he toys with you. Do you feel manipulated? The good news is you wrote your ending and the story was just that - one story.

"I can fix it. My brother's got an ultimate set of tools. I can fix it."
I'm beyond terrible at movie quotes but this one's so classic, a recent movie spoofed it. Nobody I was with knew that it was a spoof. I was shocked!
For a million dollars, can you name either movie? No google!
If Nick and Chris don't respond, they aren't paying attention. :)

This [subject above] was a headline at MSN today. The article suggested the following reasons: * Bets * Charity * Warmth * Fashion Bushy beards are also used as a disguise when people fear their government and are planning civil disobedience. This common motive was conveniently omitted. Is the establishment trying to shape the story early before revolutionaries sense their strength? Recall that slave-owners suggested slaves should all wear white arm-bands so slaves could be identified, until slaves used the arm bands to discover how many of themselves existed, and united in revolution. My desire for 'change' is considered Xtreme (in these times, adherence to our Constitution is considered Xtreme), but my approach is peaceful and clean shaven. Deception can only lead to short-term victorys. America deserves the kind of long-term solutions that come with honest educational and political activity. But there is an underground brewing. I hope to persuade and inspire those that peaceful political action is the most effective and the most moral. The difficulty is peaceful action requires the most people. Other kinds of action are appropriate for an abused minority. So I hope more people choose to learn more and help become involved before some become impatient about injustice (central banking supporting foreign occupation). I just wrote a blog on beards and turned it into a serious (?) argument for the most noble of all causes.
