I want for rock and pop bands to incorporate the BATTLERAP mentality, calling each other out, challenging each other to be better. I wrote a really weak rhyme calling out Nickelback, but I won't post it, because it's just so poor. Not that I won't start this...just let me think about it.
I'll have to call out a band at my same level. Or I need to hit a level where a lot of people care. This won't stop me.
If anyone comes up with a good one for their own band against another, then go for it -- OR MAYBE YOU WANT TO CALL ME OUT, oh man, just let me know, and it's so fucking on.

I can't believe it - the final masters are final. It's all done. The record is done.
Well, I haven't been communicating with anybody about anything, so I imagine everyone has pretty well lost track of what's going on with yours truly, to the extent that they were keeping track in the first place...
But you should know that I am happy with my lady, my record is done, and I am very, very tired.
You should know that Sir Tyson Bucwalter Sanchez (etc), the little-person tractor king of upstate New York, is crashing into Brooklyn this weekend, and short shorts will be involved. But this is another matter.
Death to false singer-songwriter indie-pop. Or something.

Oh my god.
Ok, so new record, right? I have been completely freaking out getting this thing done. I'm basically putting all my other projects on the backburner until the first week of October, when I need to hand this thing over to whoever is going to master it. I'll need to have the final master in my hands by Thanksgiving if I want to have it up on iTunes and eMusic by the end of January, which has been the objective since more than a year ago.
So what is this thing going to sound like? Well, it's shaping up to be between ten and twelve tracks, half-with-vocals, half instrumental. It's a record made up almost entirely of samples I have collected with my little handheld recorder, but I do use synths and drum machines wherever it's necessary to support the found sounds. It is definitely a melody-driven record, but I have a habit of cranking the beats to the point where the audio geeks write me to complain.
The aim is that the album will be a great big mess of bells and static and melody. Use of guitars will be bare-minimum. I needed to avoid falling back on the instrument I have always fallen back on with my solo recording stuff. There will probably be two tracks with guitar: one with a loop composed of guitar resonance noises but no plucking, and one with a sampler instrument that plays guitar harmonic sounds. Hopefully, this gives you an idea of the aesthetic I'm going after.
Anyway, I'm excited. I hope you are too. I'm also nervous as hell, which I hope you are not.
Best, Mike

Current mood: thirsty
Hey everybody,
I haven't written on this since before Christmas, but I wanted to let everyone know that I have completely overhauled my Glass Animal official website. Gone is the green. In fact, I completely trashed all the reviews and stuff that used to be on there as well. I discovered that a lot of people have been finding my site while searching for horrible porn. It makes sense, I guess - I have a song called "College Girls" and my band is called "Glass Animal" but the kicker is that the old version of the site had a column called "Fucking Bullshit." Hence, a lot of disgusting google searches turning my site up as a result.
I'll say it now; I am trying to alienate the "horrible porn" audience. However, if you want any of the stuff from the old site, you can e-mail me and I'll send a copy. It was mostly reviews and columns about pop culture.
But FORGET THAT, BECAUSE THE NEW SITE IS UP AND IS SPECTACULAR! You can find all of my songs to date available for FREE download, the Trailer to SNAKES ON A PLANE, regular updates, events, etc.
Speaking of events, my other band, KALPANA is playing a show in Brooklyn one week from tonight - Friday June 9 at Union Pool. 9pm. We have been completely slaying lately, so I don't see why this show would be any different.
And for the Glass Animal fans, I have like 4-5 songs in the process right now - some are nearly done, two are just starting points. It takes awhile, sorry. However, there will be a digital release in January.
Okay, thanks for reading, Mike

Hey Everybody,
So, I have completed a song for my friends in the defunct pop group, The Pink Cammies. It is called "Blood (the song)," and the band recorded it almost entirely, but then disbanded before they could complete it. This has always been my favorite Pink Cammies song.
I didn't feel right posting the song on my Myspace page, because it's not a Glass Animal track; I just did the mixing. But the Pink Cammies have a ton of fans, at least compared to the number of Glass Animal fans, so I wanted to make sure that all those folks got what they didn't even know they needed. A brand new Pink Cammies song!
Hear "Blood (the song)" HERE
