Issue 10 is here. As well as an interview with the former Digitiser editor and regular Edge columnist Paul Rose about the state of children's television we've got a celebration of all the good things about 2007, including our choices of best game, album, television show and comic title all celebrated and explored fully. The music doormat takes a trip to the Union Chapel to see Revere, Sam Beer, Gabby Young and Other Animals, and Mary Hampton. Elsewhere in the music section, DM meets up with the band the Grammatics to chat about their current rise to greatness and talks to Dan Hawkins and other former members of the Darkness are upto in Stone Gods.

On top of all that, there is all the usual content from columns to reviews and other articles about everything from Wii game No More Heroes to TV series Californication, from Manhwa title Shaman to Battlestar Galactica. Enough to keep anyone entertained, in fact. And just like always it is still completely free.

Disposable Media is looking for new staff in all areas. If you're not familiar with us, we're a free online PDF magazine available at www.disposablemedia.co.uk which comes out roughly bimonthly.

All work is strictly unpaid. Hopefully writers will start getting review material to work from, but that is far from a promise. You will get to say you've worked for DM on your CV though and with 10000 readers per issue and that isn't a bad thing at all. Disposable Media is well known and well respected amongst a great many important people.

Writers

We're specifically looking for people interested in games, music, films and comics to help pad each section out. Past experience is a bonus, but not a requirement and all applicants are expected to provide some samples of their work. As well the magazine we are looking to expand into providing regular reviews on a currently work-in-progress website so we are looking to expand greatly in this area.

Designers

All design work is credited and ideal for inclusion in a portfolio and it is possible for design work to be quite individual, each article is created by a specific individual with the advice of the rest of the team. Professional experience is a bonus, but not required. Disposable Media is created using Adobe Indesign CS2. If you have experience with it and are interested in joining the design team, get in touch with some samples.

Illustrators

We are looking to get some illustrators on call for when they are required. Personal style is important and in each case you will work specifically with the designer of the article to create a final piece. Past experience is not required, but you must be prepared to work to specific briefs.

All applicants must be capable to work to tight, though reasonable deadlines. All organisation is online and each staff member is expected to comment on and criticise other work to ensure the highest standard throughout.

If you are interested, please drop an email to disposablemedia@gmail.com with your name, past experience and samples of your work. We'll try to get in touch with everyone if possible. And please pass this onto anyone else you think might be interested.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Well, getting DM5 out has really spurred us on it seems - the new website is now very almost done (it will provide content a lot more regularly than the magazine possibly can - so it'll include all the reviews and time-specific articles we always wanted to put in the magazine but never really made sense to include).

Even better than that, work is cracking along with the Disposable Wiidia Special (y'see what we did there) with the first article already submitted and being designed and a couple more almost finished. We think it'll be launching the week after the Wii does in the UK (so December 15th, probably) to give us time to play with it and review every aspect of it. It's already looking like it is going to be a good read.

Oh, and if you've got around to reading Issue 5 let us know what you thought of it, would you? We always appreciate feedback and despite Issue 5 having the best download rate yet we haven't got much feedback for it.

I bet you thought we'd disappeared, didn't you?

Well, we haven't. We're here and so is the latest issue which you can get from:

http://www.disposablemedia.co.uk/

It's got all kinds of good stuff in it - which you've probably seen from the front page.

The bands covered in the Doormat page this issue are:

The Voltaires

Victoria Klewin

The Pocket Gods

Johnny Poindexter

51 Breaks

Pocket Books

Bauer

Revere

Sikora

The people in question should get a little message to let them know from us sometime soon. But I thought I'd mention them here.

We've got something of an exciting few weeks coming too - as well as DM5 we're going to have a Nintendo Wii special (lovingly entitled DMWii) and also we hope to launch a  new website, home to much new content.

And then we'll start thinking about DM6.

Sorry we've been so long (especially to those who sent CD's) but hey! We're back!

Yup. It's out. www.disposablemedia.co.uk

Took a bit longer than expected at the end (it always does, but this time we had unexpected pdf problems at the end that were awkward to solve. And now they're mended we're not too sure how) but it's here. And it is far and away my favourite issue. For a start there is lots in it. Secondly it looks gorgeous. And it's got plenty to read in it too.

A few myspace people will be pleased to know they're in the music review section - Kat Flint, Fat Benjamin, ObedientBone, Dead! Dead! Dead! and The Sequins all got in. Thanks for sending the discs. Anyone else that wants in (to join The Voltaires and Pocket Gods who are already poised for DM5) just get in touch.

But, for now it's DM celebration time. DM4 is out and although it has taken a lot of work it is more than worth it in our opinion. Go, download, and let us know what you think please!

-Rev

PS. And, of course, thanks to everyone who was involved in DM4. You are all fantastic.
