I.  THE CONCERT

************************

First, make plans for this Friday night.  We have a great show planned and you don't want to miss it.

The evening will feature Eric Shouse, Rande Vick, My Name Is Milk, and Steven Wesley Guiles.

This will be Steven's first show with drummer Brandon Burroughs, so bring your recording devices and bootleg this special occasion.  He will be pulling songs from his Pushstart Wagon, Friction Bailey, and forthcoming solo albums.

Here's the important information:

Friday December 14

Rico Coffee

2320-A Foothill Blvd.

La Verne, CA 91750

(Foothill & White Next To Vons)

(909) 392-1999

www.ricocoffee.com

The show starts at 8pm.  It's FREE.

You can also exit the 210 at Fruit and head south.  Fruit turns into White.

SWG will go on sometime between 9 and 9:45.

The evening should end before 11pm.

Some Christmas music will be performed.

II.  THE NEWS

************************

Much has been happening lately in the SWG music world.  If you didn't know, Steven is the lead singer and songwriter for Pushstart Wagon.  Lately several songs from their last release, L.A. Was Our Alamo have found their way onto various soundtracks on MTV produced shows.  Keep your ears peeled.  Bonus points will go to the first people to "spot" the songs.

Songs have also been receiving a bit of airplay in Canada. Yeah.  Canada.  We've never been there, but we're glad that Canadians like Pushstart.

Steven is also in the midst of recording tracks for a new solo E.P.   If you've been at any of the Rico Coffee shows, you may have a copy some of the songs that will receive full studio treatment for this E.P.

III.  THE FB CHRISTMAS CD

************************

If you haven't ever heard this album and you enjoy mellow acoustic based music, this is a must own for the Christmas holiday.  Featuring Steve and Joy's gorgeous vocal interplay and organic arrangements of traditional Christmas songs (along with two originals), this album has been featured in podcasts across the world and has also been featured on NPR's online version of All Songs Considered.  You can find it at cdbaby.com, iTunes, and other online vendors.

You could also email us directly by replying to this email and we will ship you a physical copy of the CD in the specially packaged maroon linen with gold print.   Only 500 CDs were made.  Get 'em while the getting's good.  $12 includes shipping.  We'll even take PayPal if you do things that way.

We hope you have a wonderful holiday season and a Merry Christmas!

Peace,

The Fine Folk at New Cool Now Music

You can hear the fragments of song that will be full-fledged come Sunday here.

I'm particularly excited to play a new song I wrote called "The Skeleton of the Rocketship". Partially because it's brand new and also because it was inspired by something my son said and then it grew into something much more.

Go to my personal myspace for more details concerning the show.

Peace,

Steve

We at the Friction Bailey Headquarters like to make a point of not torturing or harassing our subscribers with too many emails if at all possible.

So, here's the first email of 2007.  Your next one may not arrive until the end of the summer, so savor it.

Steve will be doing several acoustic shows.  We won't make a point of bothering you with any more emails, we will simply direct you to our myspace pages and leave it at that.  (You don't have to be a myspace member to check on the page, but if you ARE you can send us messages and fun things like that).

Our myspace pages are checked and updated quite often, so if you're a checking in kind of person, we'd love to hear from you that way.  You can also respond to these emails and we'll gladly respond.

Steve will be playing in lovely Glendora, CA this coming Friday night (Good Friday).  The show starts at 8pm with My Name Is Milk.  Steve should be playing sometime around 8:45.  We hope if you're in the Southern California area that you drop by, get a cup of coffee, and sit back and enjoy a lot of brand new music.

Here's a link to the flyer:

Did you know that you can give Friction Bailey as a gift through iTunes?  If you are iTunes savvy search "Friction Bailey" in the little search engine when visiting the store.  Click on either of our albums.  When you get to our iTunes album page, there's a little button under the "buy album" that says "gift album".  If you click it you can choose to give the entire album as a gift or just send a song that you think someone would really appreciate.  It's a pretty nice 99 cent gift card if ya' ask me.  I'm thinking of sending my Great Aunt Jean a copy of Bon Jovi's latest...

Thanks for your patience.  We know your time is valuable and we appreciate the support you've given us over the years.  We will eventually be recording some new material, but unitl then, keep checking back.

You can also see what Steve is up to in his much busier band, Pushstart Wagon.  Yes, they have a myspace too:

We've been nominated for a major award...or something like that.
The Just Plain Folks Music Awards.  Our rendition of the traditional Christmas/New Year's tune, Auld Lang Syne, has been nominated for an award.  The ceremony happens in November.

Here's the place and the stuff. Out of 10,000+ albums and 140,000+ songs, ours was selected...of course, there are like 85 categories...so I won't play our horn too loud...

I lived through the 80s...and maybe you remember them too.  Remember MTV when it played music videos?  Then perhaps you remember Adam Curry, who is now on the forefront of the Podcasting wave.

Here's a link to the show we were played on.
Please tell him how much you appreciated it!
