SOULSTICE THEATRE PRESENTS THE LARAMIE PROJECT

Marking the 10th anniversary of the murder of gay student Matthew Shepard Soulstice Theatre, Soulstice Theatre is honored to present THE LARAMIE PROJECT.

One month after the murder of Shepard, the Tectonic Theater Project traveled to Laramie, WY to talk to residents of the town. The play forged from these interviews allows the audience an intimate look inside the small community torn apart by the crime. Soulstice is proud to donate a portion of box office receipts to The Matthew Shepard Foundation, whose mission is to replace hate with understanding, compassion, and acceptance.

THE LARAMIE PROJECT will be performed October 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 and 11, 2008, with all show times at 7:30. October 2 is a "Pay What You Can" preview. Performances are in the Soulstice Lab Theatre on the 4th floor of the Marian Center for Non-Profits, 3195 South Superior Street, Bay View.

One of the community's longest running film festivals celebrates its 21st anniversary with an international array of the finest and newest in films and videos by and about the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities. The screening-packed eleven days of features, documentaries, and shorts opens at the Oriental Theatre with the local premiere of Tom Gustafson's Were the World Mine. The Milwaukee LGBT Film/Video Festival is sponsored by the Cream City Foundation's Joseph R. Pabst LGBT Infrastructure Fund and the Greater Milwaukee Foundation's Johnson & Pabst LGBT Humanity Fund.

Opening night takes place at the Oriental Theatre, at 7:30, with the screening of Were the World Mine, which has won numerous awards.

Afterwards, join the PUMP! Crew at Moct for Babylon Thursdays.

$25 tickets are available for those 21 and over, and include cocktails before and after the Faire, your admission to the Faire, as well as transportation to and from the Faire. There will also be beverages on the bus. The bus leaves Decibel at 11:00 AM and returns to Decibel at approximately 8:00 PM

For those who are under 21 or do not wish to ride the bus, tickets for the Faire only are $14.95 in advance.

BABYLON THURSDAYS MOVES TO MOCT TO FINISH OUT THE SUMMER.

We're still searching for a new, permanent location for our Thursday evening party; but many of you have told us that you want a place to go NOW! The immediate solution that we've come up with is to find a venue that has agreed to host Babylon on a temporary basis.

You asked for it. You got it! Beginning this Thursday night, August 14th, join us in Walker's Point on Thursday nights as Babylon Thursdays moves to it's temporary location at Moct!

We haven't worked out all the details; but we can tell you that DJ John Murges will, as always, be spinning Milwaukee's best dance music. And while we aren't completely clear about what the drink specials will be, we can promise that there will be specials! So comon out and enjoy everything you've always enjoyed about Babylon Thursdays, with an added bonus: You'll be able to enjoy the great weather, with Moct's huge open doors and outdoor seating!
