So last night I just finished mixing my new EP "Invocations" and I'd to tell you a little about it.

It features Danny Frankel (Fiona Apple, Jewel, Lou Reed) on drums. David Piltch (kd Lang, Bill Frisell). A string quartet. Steve Weisberg on piano. Gaby Moreno on background vocals. And me on guitar and vocals.

In anticipation of my upcoming EP release, which should be finished sometime in October, I've made available for download a 6 song collection entitled "Sketches 1: The Vase." For only $2.99!!, you can download it exclusively through nimbit at http://www.nimbitmusic.com/jeremylev Please check it out as it's also a great way to donate towards the expenses of the upcoming EP : ) Here's what I have to say about this collection. "Sketches 1: The Vase" is a 6 track collection of bedroom lullabies created in 2007/2008 while Jeremy was living in Harlem, NYC. The songs/instrumentals are melancholy reflections of delicate moments. They are dots in paintings by Seurat. They are passing notes in between measures. They are authentic and sincere, and should accompany the listener's quieter moments. Perhaps, they would best be enjoyed while drinking wine slowly or as background music to shared caresses or as music in a film. The album is called 'Sketches.' In the art world, before the painting, there is the sketch. That's what these so-called songs seem to be - sketches of songs. Maybe they'll be develop further, maybe not. The 6 sketches were recorded over several months in Jeremy's apartment and features longtime friend Gal Nyska ..o. This is Sketches 1, leaving open the possibility for future sketches.

I'm a west coast finalist in the NewSong Songwriting Competition, and the finals are being held in Los Angeles. See the flyer below for details. But basically, there is going to be 10 great songwriters performing. I imagine everyone has an equal chance of 'winning', however, it will be a great opportunity to meet other songwriters. If you live in LA, try to come out to the show! It will definitely be high quality songwriting on display : )

Hello Everyone,
I recently arrived in Los Angeles from New York and I want to form a band. Here's the concept: I want it to be based around a male-female singer/songwriter duo. In terms of style of music, I'm thinking an acoustic/jazzy/pop sound with a hint of something international (since I'm quite the francophile, I was thinking of something french....but just a hint). You need to live in LA and be able to play local shows.
I'll be playing guitar (maybe a little piano) and singing.... For the female s/s, here's what I'm looking for: 21-28 yrs old can sing (jazzy/sultry/folky style) plays an instrument (violin preferred) french?
I'm also looking for a bass player and drummer.
I hope to hear from you soon!
Jeremy

I just want to announce that on June 19th I will be leaving New York City and moving to Los Angeles. My brother David and I will be making the cross country trek. Key stops will be South Dakota, Wyoming, Utah, and Arizona. We will be camping the entire time, and I can't wait! I plan on getting to LA on June 30th.
I spent one year in New York working on my music and now all of a sudden it's time to go. I made some great friends, and yes, I heart New York...But I also love California! I'll spend at least one year in LA, continuing to make music. I'm hoping to build my connections in film music and other non-performance based music outlets. I'll definitely continue performing my original music in LA clubs.
Over these 10 days I'll most likely be in my car, and if you'd like to give me a call to say hello, I'd love to hear from you! My cell is 919-559-3624. I'd be happy to get a call from any of my myspace friends!
See you sur la route, Jeremy

What better day to have deep thoughts than on your birthday?!
So today, I am 24 years old. Right on schedule.
This past week, I've been reading "Death of a Salesman" and some of my birthday thoughts have sprung from it.
Basically, the book talks about a man who instead of looking for personal meaning in himself and his relationship with others, he looks for meaning in his professional success (or lack there of) in a society which is less and less structured around genuine human needs. It puts him into a vicious circle of contradictions and disappointment as the false promises of society reveal things about his identity which he doesn't want to admit. All this could have been avoided had he looked for meaning closer to home.
Sooo, on a more cheery note, on this 24th birthday of mine, it made me think of the value of relationships at all levels that I've shared and the gratitude I have towards those who've been a part of my life (no matter how small or large). My meaning is found in the shared experiences. And my music is about sorting through my experiences, stacking them on some wheat toast, adding 1-4 slices of heart-felt sincerity, putting it all together, presenting it to the listeners, and saying "have a bite of this."
I hope I will also leave a mark in other people's lives and that's the truest success I can derive from my music.
Love Jeremy
