A few weeks ago I picked up and moved from Portland to Austin. It's been almost a decade since I lived here and it feels great to be back. Lots of music and lots of really great people in this town. I'm excited to see what comes up. Before I left PDX, I was able to record with a good handful of projects. Here is a quick summary of the records I was a part of in the past year.
Commotion 'Commotion' - Ben Darwish's funky dance project... We all put lots of hard work into making this and it came out really well. It has one tune of mine featuring fretless guitar with Chaz Hastings playing tabla.
Lelah Simon 'Third Week of April' - Friends from CO making really vibe-y jazz/americana/pop sounds. I love the sound of this record.
Trio Subtonic 'Cave Dweller' - I guested on two tracks of this neo-soul-jazz record. Really good sounding, groovy stuff.
Echo Helstrom 'not-sure-yet' - This is going to be a frickin' epic modern rock record with thick string arrangements and great songwriting. I do some texturizing and some rocking!
Damian Erskine 'So To Speak' - This is the bass virtuoso's first record of original tunes and I'm really honored to be on it. Great writing, intense playing, and me trying to keep up!
I also released a record under my own name on Diatic Records entitled 'Semi Somnus' - Features Jessy Luzzi - vox, Jed Wilson - keys, Bill Athens - bass, Ken Ollis - drums/perc, and myself on acoustic, electric, and fretless guitars.
Now I'm hanging in awesome little studio apartment in Austin, writing songs, meeting new people and enjoying the 'cold, fall weather' of about 65 degrees.
