Current mood:  thankful
I have recently acquired a couple more corset sites - and I need a myspace site built for each one. I looked into hiring a "professional" - but it would be so much more fun to find some of you who are really GOOD at making your myspace pages brilliant - and either hire you - OR, how would you feel about building a site in exchange for a corset??? YES - really - build us a couple of really flashy sites and we will make you a new corset!
If you are interested write to me here - be sure to include a link to your space so that I can see what you can do and let's make a deal!

It's been awhile - I've been very busy updating the website (www.CorsetConnection.com) and working on new sites. New employees, too - who need to be trained, but are SUPER excited about selling corsets & lingerie. I am SO lucky to have Janie doing my shipping and Cammie and "Madeline" in sales & customer service. Our goal is to have the BEST customer service in the industry, and I believe we are well on our way!

Having an employee who used to work for my competition is a huge advantage - although if any of you know me very well you already know the whole story. I'll not "spill" it here, as that would be unprofessional and just plain childish. Suffice it to say that I am extremely happy with the way things are going. Sales are WAY up, and I finally have all of the support I could wish for.

If you want a new corset BEFORE the event, send an email to me: nancy at corsetconnection dot com! (Do not send it HERE, cuz i'm terrible at checking this page)!!!

HUGS to everyone i've been missing lately - I'll see you all soon!

Current mood:  contemplative
I spent the better part of today working on the website. I really (really) want it to look like www.anthropologie.com - but the shopping cart program that we are using is not going to easily support that type of template. SO - I did what I could with what we have, and removed the right side tables, and combined the Information Links to make the site look a little simpler/cleaner. Then I put up a HOT new image on the splash page... take a look... www.CorsetConnection.com

This image is from a photo shoot we did over the weekend here in Portland. It was quite a bit of fun being out on the streets with a model in lingerie! (the skateboarders in the background were INTO it!)!

I also moved a couple of the categories - so you'll be able to find the Goth and Leather corsets under the "Overbust Style Corsets" category, and the Tight-lacing corsets are under the "Underbust Style Corsets" category. Look around - nothing has been removed, just moved.

Last, but not least, I updated the colors, the logo and attempted to put a checked black and white background up. Keep an eye on the site... I'm determined to figure out why the background image wouldn't show!

Please give me some feedback - I truly want to make this site easy to navigate, and make certain we have the best corset and lingerie selection possible. Let me know how we are doing!

How to Put on a Corset

The first step will be to make certain your corset is laced correctly. If your corset is not laced, you can follow the lacing directions on our Corset Lacing Video. If your corset is laced incorrectly, we suggest you take a look at our lacing video and re-lace your corset so that there are cross-ties. A correctly laced corset will make the dressing process much easier.

Make sure the "loops" are at the waist of your corset (see above and below). Then loosen the corset laces so that the corset can be comfortably placed around your body.

Place the corset around your body, with the laces in the back, and the busk (buckles) in the front. The loops (hooks) of the busk will be on the right side of your body. (If the loops are on the left side, your corset is on upside down)!

Hook the top loop of the busk, and then hook the middle loop, or the one at your waist, and lastly the loop at the bottom. You may need to go back and forth in order to get all of the loops hooked. Take your time and make sure they are all secure.

Now that your corset is placed on your body, make sure the waist is in the correct and comfortable position. This is a good time to adjust the placement of your corset - before the laces are tightened!

The loops of the laces should fall at your natural waist. This is the point between your ribcage and the top of your hipbone where the most compression is possible. You may feel discomfort if the loops are not at your waist, as you may be attempting to tighten the corset over your ribcage or hipbone. Either re-adjust, or possibly re-lace, your corset if you find this has happened.

The next step is to start at the top of your corset and pull the cross ties snugly into place. First pull the top ties, then move down, section by section, to the waist. Next - go to the bottom of your corset and work your way back up to the waist, pulling on the cross ties one section at a time. (You can repeat this step as often as you need to).

If you are lucky enough to have someone helping you, the directions will be the same. If you are lacing yourself into your corset, practice will make the process easier.

Now pull on the loops to even out the laces.

Your corset laces should be tightened as evenly as possible. For some the corset may close at the top or bottom (or both) - and for some the laces will leave a larger gap, showing skin through the lacings.

Now tie a bow with the length of the loops. (Be careful to not tie a knot)!

And - it's as easy as that!

This underbust style corset is appropriate for beginning waist training. It is a little longer than most cinchers - providing a flat tummy along with improved posture and uplifting the bustline.

No, I am not going to reveal the magic secret to weight loss – but I am going to tell you that incorporating corset wearing into your daily routine may help you lose weight.

Simply wearing a corset will reduce your waistline by a couple of inches, which will in turn improve your posture, support your lower back and make your clothes look better. And this is before you have even begun to "diet"!

Wearing a corset puts pressure on your stomach as well as your waistline. One of the reasons people lose weight when they have gastric bypass surgery is because their stomach is made smaller, so they feel full much more quickly. A corset will produce a similar effect by putting pressure on the stomach, causing us to feel full. Food may also digest more slowly, keeping us from wanting to eat again for a longer period of time.

You will need to have a well-fitted corset that is comfortable for daily wear. Some people may be able to wear a standard size corset, but remember that a custom fitted corset is designed to your exact measurements. If you want to start corseting quickly, we recommend that you order a stock-size corset AND a custom fitted corset. You can get started on a limited basis while you wait for your custom corset to arrive. Otherwise you will want to plan ahead 4-8 weeks for your custom corset to be completed. Contact us with your measurements for help on selecting the correct corset, and please let us know what your goals are.

Put your corset on as soon as you wake up in the morning. If you shower in the mornings, then do that immediately upon waking. Then put your corset on.  If you eat or drink anything at all, your corset will not go on as easily.

Lace the corset snugly, but not tightly, and get ready for your day. Before leaving your home or starting your day, lace the corset a little tighter, so that it is quite snug, but not uncomfortable. If you experience bloating or discomfort during the day be sure to loosen the laces. If anything is at all painful you will want to remove your corset. Do NOT remove your corset directly after eating a good-sized meal, or you will experience discomfort. Sudden removal of your corset will lessen the pressure on your stomach and may cause stomach pain or cramping. This is another good reason to not overeat while wearing a corset.

What to eat.

There are certain foods that do not combine well with corset wear. Foods that cause gas can cause discomfort, as can overeating. Many people find that avoiding carbohydrates helps them while corseting, although a balanced diet is important, and avoiding certain food groups is not always a good idea.

The best way to eat healthily while corseting is follow a method of "food combining". There are various eating plans which follow this theory, including (but not limited to) Atkins, South Beach, Suzanne Somers, Macrobiotics and Marilu Henner's Total Health Makeover.

Exercise.

You must exercise. This is critical to any weight loss plan, but especially important when incorporating corset wear. The corset will support your stomach and lower back, and you will not be using the muscles in these areas as you normally do.

Walking is a great exercise that can be done while you are wearing your corset, but all other forms should be done without your it. If you have a regular exercise routine then simply take your corset off before exercising, and put it back on when you are done.

If you do not currently exercise you will need to, at a very minimum, start a regular plan of daily stretching and toning exercises. We recommend that you start this stretching and toning plan at least a week before you start to wear your corset so that you will know what your body can do comfortably. You may be achy and sore when you first remove your corset, and the exercising will help tremendously.

**Important** - Always consult with your health care professional before beginning any diet or exercise program.
