Frenetic hand clapping and hip shaking may become an involuntary reaction when listening to Australia's Flamingo Crash. The band admits their sound is quite bloody: "something like taking a colorful chainsaw to your brain and hips." Whatever kind of movement they may elicit, the Melbourne-based quartet throw themselves forward at a hectic pace, sliding between elegantly polished punk and throbbing dance pulses.
After playing in a band that singer Isaac E says, "sounded like a bad Yeah Yeah Yeahs with a boy fronting," the members regrouped and out of that band's ashes rose Flamingo Crash. Their very first live show was supporting a relatively unknown band called Wolfmother, which has somehow proved to be a good omen from the music gods, as the band has only continued to grow stronger since then.
Flamingo Crash independently released their debut album, Triangle Island, in 2008 and subsequently found themselves supporting Lily Allen, Maximo Park and the Presets on tour. With the international support box ticked off the to-do list, next on the agenda for these dance-punky brewsters is a new album.
"We've locked ourselves away for the last three months in a giant abandoned warehouse in North Melbourne—we are convinced it's haunted—and finished writing the new record," says Isaac. "It's been super refreshing to have our own private space for the first time to write and record, and has probably been the most fun and productive period since the band started." So, with that in mind, get ready for September, when Flamingo Crash is set to unleash that second album.

Up until now the albums been available in Australia, NZ and Japan with some rarer imports in selected US & UK stores. But now it doesn’t matter if you live in Barcelona, Berlin or Buenos Aires - Triangle Island is available for download all over the world through SugarRush.
’Triangle Island is sure to be one of the records of the year’ - Rave Magazine AU
‘Triangle Island is their debut longplayer and is, to put it quite simply, everything a pop/rock album should be. It's a glorious collision of genres that brilliantly reveals the individual talents within the band, exuding an incredible musicianship and a natural songwriting ease. Overall, a triumph for Flamingo Crash that is sure to turn more that a few heads' - Time Off AU
'The smarter Yanks (Glass Candy, Chromatics) are throwing sharp angles and soft shapes, freaking out to the cool sounds of post-disco. The smarter Aussie are, too – Flamingo Crash mix post-Brooklyn hipster swagger with a kid who drums like he’s the new Clem Burke from Blondie to dance rhythms as sharp as MIA’s. Check out: ’Yes? Yes? Yes?’ from debut ‘Triangle Island’ – NME UK
‘If there’s a shred of sensibility and common sense left in the music world, Flamingo Crash will be huge.’ Rocksellout US
