 Something wicked this way comes...

Saturday night's 80's Metal Monster's Ball at
Mac's in Mattydale was EPIC! So much goin' on that night that it's hard to put it all into words but as always I'll take a swing at it...

-
Mac's rocks! Huge thanks to Pat, Gary and the staff for their great work as always!

-Thanks to
REMNANTS OF 3 who kicked off the party with a solid set of hard rockin' originals heavy on groove, peppered with a few cool covers. Zombie comes to mind. Geoff and the guys dressed for the occasion, had a good time and the crowd seemed to love 'em! Noice! Thanks guys.

-Thanks to Kurt and Mike at
Fairplay Sound who did a fantastic job as always. Also thanks to Shad Lighting for the extra rigs

-I would also like to thank the Academy.

-Backstage before the show was weird. Not your typical 3IF backstage debauchery...different kind of mood...I thought about it today and it dawned on me that there was no cooler full of beer backstage...coincidence? It was probably just nerves. Sounded loud out there!

-Tons of freaks(we love freaks) came dressed for the occasion in some great costumes. Awesome to know we can count on all of you to go with the flow as it always makes for great fun!

-We kicked it all off with some DLR and the madness began to unfold. The energy level from the audience was really amazing. Seeing all the crazy characters from the stage was quite the trip! Kinda like bein' the house band at that saloon from Star Wars but I digress.

-Loud, really loud amps. Pushed my rig nearly to it's limit just to try to keep up with my six string slingin' neighbors...kinda liked it :-)

-DR took the stage as Awful Kanawful "Vocal daredevil extraordinaire"! He performed an amazing stunt that night that most people were unaware of...not falling in the stream of sweat that cascaded from under his loose fitting latex outfit down into the lake at center stage. DR worked the stage like a pro that night and was dehydrated to the point of peeing yellow powder!...Im serious...ask 'em...he likes to talk about it.

-Many people took to the stage throughout the evening and as I always say : "We wouldn't have it any other way"! And we wouldn't, but there are a few things that should be noted if for no other reason than it might be amusing:

1-Strings on instruments such as guitars and basses need to vibrate in order to make sound. "Dry hump" dancing or doing "the butt" on vibrating strings causes them to stop making sound...we are there to make sound...do the butt on the butt.dry hump the leg...let the strings ring! :-)

2-Dudes who get on stage.most often don't know what to do when they get up there so here's a tip.get back off the stage :-) Just kidding (1/2 kidding).your more than welcome but no dry humping ANYTHING!

3-Drunk girl who repeatedly runs up mid song to complain about the other drunken girls dancing onstage: Shut up and dance!

4-And finally, if you choose to come on stage you are now part of the show and may be used as a prop...Lol.I just killed myself with that one. Gimme a sec I'm not sure why I find that so amusing...

Actually we really do love it when the excitement boils over from the audience onto the stage.
We just hope you come equipped with water shoes in case DR is wearing latex! :-)

-The costume contest was awesome. The outfits really have to be seen to be appreciated (check the
"Gallery") so I won't go into too much detail but certainly for most original costume I would have to give it to my boy Jay for showing up as the corpse of someone who was bludgeoned to death with a 3 INCH FURY guitar pick! I think it was a costume...either that or Jef Leppard had another case of 'roid rage!

-After the contest we continued to rock a packed house at Mac's until things started to get a lil' too crazy and the cops shut us down. At this point we had played until 2am and then halfway back to 2am again (clocks jumped back) and we were ready to keep goin' but the house lights came up and that was all she wrote. DAMN, we still had some killers in our pocket! Welcome to The Jungle, For Those About To Rock, Monkey Business, Talk Dirty To Me...Oh well, every party has it's end. Luckily we throw these shindigs on a pretty regular basis and you are always invited!

-Want to give a quick shout to our friends from
T3P, Grind and Tangled Grace (who were throwing quite the party themselves down the way at 58) for stopping out to hang with us when they had the opportunity throughout the evening! Eric and Ima looked particularly friggin' hilarious!

-A sincere THANK YOU to ALL OF YOU who decided to come out and spend your night with us this past Saturday! We certainly hope we made it worth your while and that we see you out again for another good time!

Next up?
Saturday November 4th
The Jordan Diner (No it's not a diner)
Jordan NY (Yes it is in Jordan NY)

Either way we'll be serving up hot slabs of 80's Metal ALL NIGHT LONG!
If you wanna hear us play allot of "B-sides" along with the hits this is your night!
Rediscover obscure 80's metal scorchers from bands like: Britney Fox, Lynch Mob, Bullet Boys, Extreme, Faster Pussycat and more!
Hear your favs from bands like Poison, Skid Row , Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Ratt, AC/DC and more!
Come do it for the first time or come do it all over again!

Hope to see ya soon,
gk

Band News

Welcome to the 3IF band news! For those of you new to the program I am Garrett the bass player for 3IF and I usually write the "news" the day after a gig so most of the time it reads more like a show recap. What you should know first is that I am an a$$. I often say/write/type things for the sake of amusement (my own first and foremost) and sometimes I will even say/write/type things I don't always believe if I think it might make somebody grin(myself first and foremost). My opinions are my own and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of my band mates. They have the luxury of not going public but trust me, those F'ers are just as twisted! Sometimes my news segments suck and other times they are mildly entertaining. The effort I put into each news section varies and is in no way a reflection of the success of the show that preceded it. One last thing, I occasionally curse in the news. If you find swear words offensive please stop reading now. That being said, here's the news:

What the hell was that all about? All we wanted to do was go out and play our lil' set of 80's Metal songs and the next thing you know a mutha of a party broke out! A quick "thank you" list and then I'll get to some memorable moments from the show.

Thanks to Pat and the entire MAC'S BAD ART BAR staff who continue to play the perfect host to our extravaganzas! It is with great pride that we call this place our home!

Thanks to Ozone who once again did a wonderful job getting the crowd amped up!

Thanks to Fairplay Sound and Schad Lighting for all their hard work!

Lastly but most importantly, thanks to all of you who decided to come out and party with us for the evening. We hope you had as much fun as we did!

Now for the dirt:

- We opened the show with Yankee Rose and it seemed like a great way to kick things into high gear. That song will always be an 80's Metal anthem!

- Lotsa beads

- Sean busted out his new drum riser for the show. On top of giving him a better perspective while playing it also gives the rest of us one more thing to climb on. Saaweeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

- Lotsa beer

- Speaking of the stage rig, we had our "ego" boxes set up in front of the riser and at one point I did the lamest jump in the history of live rock-n-roll. There are 3 keys to a successful stage jump. Commitment, execution and most importantly timing. Kinger from OHK is a world class jumper! I am a disgrace. I failed in all three phases and if it looked half as silly as it felt I hope at the very least you got a good laugh..i suck!

- Lotsa balloons

- DR was rockin' all night and more than made up for his temporary amnesia last week!

- Lotsa lovely ladies

- I forget which song it was but at the end of the song we all stop on cue and Pat who was starting to feel the effects of the Jager did what we call a "dinosaur" ending. You've all heard dinosaur endings at rock shows. It's pretty much where everyone solos on the last note of the song. Well imagine that, but where only one dude in the band does it..and it takes him half a minute to realize he's the only one doing it. Priceless! Other than that Pat had a stellar evening!

- Lotsa loud amps

- Jeff was his usual dependable self throughout the night. Shredding through solos with a look on his face as though he's reading the phonebook. But who needs rock star facial expressions when ya got them guns on display????

- Lotsa sex toys!?!?!

- Thanks to the UTG guys for comin' out to the show. It was great to see y'all!

- Lotsa colored lights

- We had various guest jams throughout the night including appearances by Jeff from Karma and Chris and John from Tangled Grace! It's always fun to share the stage with those guys!

- Lotsa smoke

- LOUD crowd that loved to sing which worked out great because we love to hear it!

- Lotsa Jager

- We also played We All Die Young from Steel Dragon and I LOVE playing that song! Pat rips on that solo!

- Lotsa 80's Metal

- Late in the set the stage was overtaken by the audience and mayhem broke loose until we played our last note. As always, we'd have it no other way!

- Lotsa love!

- All in all it was a wonderful night that one would have to experience to fully appreciate the fun that was had. Whether it was your first 3IF show or you hang with us regularly we want to thank you and encourage you to keep comin' back for more. We always aim to throw a party and you and you're friends are always invited!

Greetings 3IF'ers,

Despite the fact that we had to withstand downpours throughout most of the day leading up to showtime at Harborfest; when we hit the stage the sun was shining and people had started to gather for what was to be a great night of R'nR and fireworks!

-First off, a big thanks to Stacey at DMR for having us and for running such a smooth ship as stage manager for the event. The whole sound and stage crew, who's jobs were made increasingly difficult by the rain, did a tremendous job helping all the bands throughout the day and into the night. Thank you all!

-Thanks to all the members of Headcase, Kat Tale(who saved our gear), One Hard Krank and Under The Gun. Everyone was in good spirits despite the ominous grey clouds and it was a pleasure to hang with all of you!

-Thanks to everyone who came out to support all of the bands! It was great to see so many familiar faces up front in what became a sea of people!

Now that my most sincere ass-smooching has concluded, lets get to the dirt!

-WTF is up with food/vending prices? I would have done this show for free and after a sausage sandwich and a soda I think I did! Not complaining, just observing.

-New 3IF shirts are in and available at all shows while supplies last. Ladies: Baby Dolls, Camisoles, hot pink on black with the tribal logo in the lower back/upper arse area! Had a chance to see them on some peeps at Harborfest and they are way too hot! (and cheaper than a sausage and soda :-))

-Headcase opened up the show when the rain was still falling and unfortunately some people missed a pretty cool band playing some great blues flavored classic rock! They did a cool rendition of Crosstown Traffic!

-Kat Tale rocked as usual! They are such a fun group to watch and hang with. My personal fav was the Alanis Morisette song they played! The title escapes me right now but it was her first single. The one she released right before she got really boring.ummmm.."You oughta Know"?. Anyways, they play it great. Tight rhythm section, killer vocals, great guitars. What more do you want?

-As I said earlier, the sun broke about 20 minutes before we hit the stage and people started to fill in a bit so it was certainly easy to get "up" for our set.

-Everything felt great when we were up there but it is different to play on a stage that deep outdoors because sound seems to dissipate pretty quickly. So while everything felt relatively tight it still had kind of a loose vibe..I don't even know what that means.

-Lots of beads! People like beads. People love free beads. We love to throw beads and see people smile. Its our own lil' PG-rated Mardi Gras!

-Even with all that room on stage there were some mid-song collisions. Luckily no-one saw it?!?!?!

-I executed 2 "bass throws" in our set and if anyone ever watched "the bass player" I wouldn't feel the need to point this out in the news! :)

-Listening to the crowd sing "You Give Love A Bad Name" (aka "You Give Song A Long Name") was one of the coolest things I ever heard.. then I remembered that we didn't write it! HAAAAAAA! It was still a rush like no other!

-A few minor flubs but overall the set went smooth and there are no 4 other guys I would rather be in a band with than the guys in 3IF. We're so close our periods are starting to fall on the same day of the month! (Sorry.)

-OHK was next to hit the stage and with no shame I proclaim my love for their metal versions of whatever the hell they feel like playing from your FM dial. Energetic and extremely entertaining as always!

-UTG finished the night with a pounding set of rock covers and owned the crowd from start to finish. JT and gang are a great bunch of dudes and their popularity is well deserved as they deliver every time I see them!

-Thanks again to everyone who made it out and everyone who helped the show come off without a hitch!

Hell yeah! That's how we do it!

-  Saturday night was a riot! We all had a great time at
Mac's Bad Art Bar and we hope you did too. It was great hangin' out with the guys in Tangled Grace once again. They put on another great set and we can't thank them enough!

-  We were no more than 30 seconds into our first tune (Nothing But A Goodtime) when my A-string broke! Unfortunately that is the one string I really need :-)

-  Joe was on drums with us again and he was incredibly solid all night long. He is a monster on the kit and I'm sure I can speak for the rest of the guys when I say it was a blast to play with him. Thanks Joe!

-  John, Chris and Derrick of
The Audacity were on hand and joined Joe and myself for a thumpin' rendition of Skid Row's "Monkey Business". Always fun to play with those guys. Speaking of which, John will be filling in on guitar for our two May shows which should be allot of fun. Of course we'll very much loo forward to Jef Leppard's return in June!

-  Speaking of Jeff, his kid brother Mark sat in on Unskinny Bop and Metal Health and nailed 'em! Noice job!!!!!!

-  I was backstage changing strings when DR and Jeff did their acoustic songs and I could hear the crowd singing over the PA. Sweet!

-  What more can I say? It was another great party. Plenty of old friends and lots of new faces. It's always great to see both. Tons of dudes rockin' and chics dancing and lots of loud guitars.

Thanks to: Everyone who came out to share the night with us!
Pat and the Macs Crew.
Steve Shad Lighting
Fairplay Sound

Be sure to check out the
gallery to see the nights debauchery in full
color!

Next up for the 3 Inch Fury Traveling 80's Metal Extravaganza?

Brownies 10th Anniversary Blowout!
Saturday May 6th
Herkimer NY

This place rocks! The crowds rock and we always have a great time there.
Book a room in town and make it a road trip!

Friday April 7th...after the show.
OK...well I'm doing something different this week, Instead of waiting until Sunday night to write the news I am going to do it in my current Jager induced state and then I'm going to bed.
Heres what I'm thinking:

-  That crowd raaaaaaaaawked!!!!!!!!

-  Loud beautiful people singing and dancin'all night long.

-  Tons of 80s music tonight!

-
Kat Tale rocks! They bust out Lita Ford and Pat Benetar like no other. Nice job by Wic in the banana hammock taking lead vocals on a song I will call Space Cowboy for now but I'm not sure. Either way, great set by Kat Tale once again. BTW the ladies love it if you post your sexual exploits on their forum so don't be shy :-)

-  That was our first time at the Country Club and I really like that place. Nice big stage and you can fit plenty of people in there comfortably. Hope to go back some time soon.

-  Thanks to Liz from
PBR for the free beer and swag!!! PBR is yummy and we're now unofficially corporate whores!

-
UTG is still the hottest act around and for good reason. They bust out hit after hit with conviction at an extremely high energy level. I had a fun time hangin' out after our set and watching them tare it up! It was great to be able to play with those guys and hopefully we can do it again sometime in the near future.

-  As for our set what can I say. We brought it like we always do. Loud, fun, aggressive 80's rock/metal with the occasional blunder that we hope you're too drunk to notice. It's how we roll!

-  Thanks to Wizzard Sound for doing a terrific job.

-  Thanks to Stacey at
DMR for making it all happen!

-  Thanks to everyone who came out as always! You make every show a blast!

Next up?
Mexico on Saturday night!
For now...Tommy need sleepy.

Sunday April 9th
Well. Its Sunday night and all I can say is thank you Mexico! Saturday night at Do-Shea's was one kick ass party! The energy level in the bar that night was unreal and we want to thank you for that!

-
Tangled Grace got the party started right with a tight set of hard rock covers! They played everything from Symphony of Destruction to Fly To The Angels and sounded better than ever. The crowd was livin' for it! Thanks guys.

-  Thanks also to U-ROCK Productions who did a great job with lights and sound that evening.

-  A big thanks to the owner and staff at Do-Shea's for making us feel at home and for running a great establishment!

Now on to whatever you call what it is that we do:

-  I really cant put into words much how fun the set was for us that night!

-  It was hotter than hell up there but its hard to run out of energy when the ladies are dancing and the dudes are screamin! The tooters and beer and Jager were goin' down easy and it seemed like every song was the right song to dance to.

-  On behalf of all dudes in the house that evening: Thanks to all the ladies who got up to shake what God gave them! It always makes for a fun show.

-  Midway through our set Tangled Grace had a random audience member come up and draw the lucky winner of a trip with the band to California. Congratulations to Laura. Have fun on the west coast!

-  Well there were no train wrecks and nothing crazy to speak of. Just a great night of loud rock, good people and good times!

*Side note: Indulge me for a second. At the core of all this craziness
are 5 guys who like to jam 80's Metal together. I really can't think of
4 other guys who I'd rather share in this fun with so I just want to
thank them right now. Thanks guys.
