Stu -

We miss you so much.  We miss your smile.  We miss your
warmth.  We miss the way you flail around like an angry beaver when our
jams get intense (some call it "dancing").  We miss your scent... your
musk if you will.  We miss you.

Chili Stu is glad to be back in action after a nice holiday break.
We took our time off to write a bunch of new material, get some quality
new recordings in the Chili Studio, and to get our brand new website up
and running.

NEW WEBSITE!

We demolished our old website and built
it back up from scratch.  Huge thanks to Steve "Weebles" Murphy for
heading up the operation.  Check out the brand new look of our site and
the following features:

~Media!
Check out our photos page for possible photos of YOU!
Our brand new Stu Fans photo page will be updated from gig to gig
showing all the Stu's that come out to rock face.  Also check for new
photos of us playing live.  We have a couple videos up right now and
some more awesome ones to come soon!  Also there is tons of free music
to stream and download!

~Chili Studio!
We spend about 98% of our free time jamming in our homegrown recording
studio at our practice space in Berlin, NJ.  We run tape all the time,
capturing nuggets of awesomeness including improv jams, collaborations
with other musicians, brand new Stu material as well as strange
ramblings of musical insanity.

So what are we to do with our collection of digitally captured
moments of musical history?  We're gonna post them all online... for all
you Stu's to listen to and download... for free!  And we're tossing in
some of our favorite live tracks from various shows.  We'll update you via the stu email list as we post new tracks!

Check out the new site at www.chilistu.com !!!

NEW GIGS!

We have a couple gigs coming up which you
aren't going to want to miss.  We have some fresh new material for
you... so bring yourself and your music listening orifices to Philly to
see us!  Here is the next show... check out our full schedule at www.chilistu.com

Friday, January 30th
The Cherry Pit / The Draught Horse

1431 Cecil B Moore Ave ~ Philadelphia, PA
9:00 PM

Come
up to Temple University for some awesome drink specials and a night of
mind numbing sonic explosions.  There are $2 bottles and $3 craft pints
all night... where else are you going to find that deal?  Chili Stu
will open the night followed by KB Noise... a pretty sick sounding
jamband... check them out at their myspace site.

That's all for now Stu... we'll be in touch real soon.  Keep it crippilatin'.

We miss stu,
Stu

First, a big thanks to all of the people at The Anglesea Blues Festival that made our show last Saturday such an awesome time.  Playing for 3 hours in the blistering afternoon sun took its toll on us, but we prevailed and made it out alive with only minor sun poisoning.  A crowd of over 2,000 people tuned into our show, including our favorite audience member (known as "11 AM drunk guy with awesome beard") who after only 10 minutes of our first set requested "War Pigs... but with a blues style."  In hindsight, I really wish we could have pulled that off.  Maybe someday we will, 11 AM drunk guy with awesome beard... and I hope you're there to see it.  Big thanks to the amazing sound crew and all the Anglesea staff.

Our next gig is coming up in a couple weeks.

Friday, August 1st @ 9:00 PM
Street Road Bar and Grill
3631 Street Rd;
Bensalem, PA

We'll be joining our old friend, Ray Schneider (you know doubt know him as the bassist for the short lived but critically acclaimed band, Wannabe Carter) and his new band, The Upside Down Experiment.  This will be our first time playing out in Bensalem... so if you know anyone in the area who might be interested in checking us out,  give them a shout... maybe turn them into a Stu.

That's all for now.  Stay tuned for the announcement of the winner of the Name that Stu Song Competition.

Stu

This summer has recently been dubbed by Awesome Rocker Kick-A$$ Magazine (no longer in print) as "The Summer of Stu."  We plan on taking full advantage of this new found Summer title by rocking the East coast one venue at a time and coming out with tons of fresh new Stu material.  We are even contemplating migrating to the Southern Hemisphere in the Fall in order to make it The Endless Summer of Stu.

We have a righteous gig coming up... want to come?

Wednesday, July 2nd @ 10 PM
The Khyber - Jam Wednesday
56 S 2nd Street - Philly

Chili Stu is headlining one of The Khyber's new Jam Wednesday series.  We always manage to blow the roof off of the Khyber when we play there... so make sure you are there to see it happen this time.  We will be providing helmets.

NAME THAT STU SONG!

Check out our myspace site at www.myspace.com/chilistu to enter the first ever NAME THAT STU SONG competition.  Listen to the first draft of our song titled: "NAME THIS SONG" on our myspace player and either post a comment on our myspace site or email us at chilistu@gmail.com with your name suggestion.

Also check out the newest music straight from the Chili Studio on the myspace player.  First there is a live studio version of We Live Free with Flyin' Brian Haughey on the electric guitar.  Keep your eye out for Flyin' Brian joining us on stage at the Anglesea Blues Festival on July 12th in Wildwood, NJ.

And check out Chili Stu's attempt at Bluegrass (aka Stugrass) called Saturday Morning Fishing on the myspace player as well.

Dear Stus,
Occasionally our awesome power trio of a death metal band will run into difficulty naming a song.  Many song titles were bounced around, but we decided it would be best to turn to our Stus once the police showed up when we started physical altercations.

So...its now up to you.  NAME THAT SONG.  Post your song title on our page, and the best will be selected and you will have marked your place in history as "The Guy Who Named That Chili Stu Song!"

the winner will recieve a fairly decent prize, but you will have to win first to find out what you will be winning.

Also - be sure to check out a version of We Live Free, recorded live in studio with special guest guitarist, Brian Haughey

Stu on.

Chili Stu officially left our stamp on Doc Watson's during our last show.  When the band after us unexpectedly canceled, our show suddenly transformed into a two set extravaganza.  We shook the walls to the breaking point of crumbling, and then slowed ever so slightly, solely to keep the structure in tact for our next gig.

Guitarist Jon Joffe from Codename joined us for our second set.  Other than the brief moment when he was distracted due to the lady's undergarment that had been thrown onto his face with the surprising accuracy of a delicate horseshoe toss, he absolutely tore it up.  Big thanks to Joffe for thickening the groove and ripping some nasty solos.  If you liked what you heard, check out Codename playing The Fire on May 22nd.

Thanks to the tons of Stu's that helped pack the place.  The shocking number of drinks you all bought got us invited back, despite the fact that Andrew left without paying his $327 tab (mostly Jameson and rice pudding).

Saturday, May 17th @ 11:30 PM
Doc Watson's Pub
216 S 11th Street

If you haven't been to Doc Watson's, you are missing out and need to come.  If you've been to Doc Watson's before, I'm sure we'll see you there May 17th.  Come get some.

Stuuuuu are you?  Stu-hoo?  Stu-hoo?,

Big thanks to everyone who made our last gig a great success.  The Cherrywood in Clementon, NJ turned out to be a great spot with a great stage, awesome sound and cheap booze.  The dozen or so TV’s surrounding the bar was clutch since the NCAA tournament was on at the same time as a Flyers game.  Thanks to our good friend Jen Diodato for singing Use Me by Bill Withers with us.  Her siren like vocals left audience members awestruck and mildly aroused.  The Anthony Renzulli Band put on a great show as well as Shannon Cole and Soraia.

Next weekend, Chili Stu returns to Doc Watson’s in Philly for a headlining spot on Friday night...

Friday, April 18th @ 10:30 PM
Doc Watson’s Pub
216 S 11th Street, Philly

Doc Watson’s is rapidly becoming one of our favorite venues in Philly.  So come and check it out next Friday.  We guarantee a momentous event of a Chili Stu show with new tunes and a possible guest appearance by Bjork.

Straaaaange Stu... kill what’s inside of you,

Yesterday... February 27th... at 6:50 PM... Chili Stu got our first spin on 93.3 WMMR!

Yes... it's true.  WMMR's primetime DJ, Jaxon, played "We Live Free," our song which is featured on Jaxon's Local Shots Volume IV, during an awesome prime time spot on Philly's premier rock station.  Of course, there is no doubt that this will send us rocketing into rock stardom.  In fact, we can't spend too much time writing this email because we are incredibly busy planning our Europe/Japan tour.  (Does anyone know of a good hostel in Okinawa?  Please keep in mind that we are partial to continental breakfast being included.)

So feel free to call in to 93.3 WMMR and request Chili Stu - We Live Free!

Just call 215-263-WMMR and ask to hear "We Live Free" by Philadelphia rock sensation Chili Stu.  The more you call the more air-play we will get.  Jaxon DJ's on weekdays from 3:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

Astu... Astu... to you and you and you,
Stu

Allow me to apologize for the subject line.  I've had Wanna be Starting Something stuck in my head for about a week now.  Perhaps venting it to millions of Stu's via email subject line will help.  I swear I lay in bed every night and hear that nonsensical gibberish over and over.  You know... as a young chap I used to think Michael was saying "I'm sailing on the side of a matzoh ball, I'm sailing on the side of a matzoh ball."

Anyway, down to business...

First, a random update on the world of Chili Stu (just in case you care).  We three members of Chili Stu have taken all of our savings and invested in turning Andrew's basement into our own private studio.  We had a ton of fun putting everything together, and are just beginning to reap the benefits of our endless sweatshop-like labor.  With the flip of a switch we can record in OK quality (soon to be AWESOME quality).  Hopefully this will lead to some fun recordings we can share with you.  In listening to some of our rehearsals we realized something... WE SUCK.  Why are you our fan?  Have you listened to our music?  It is like listening to a drunk German sailor sing off key while stepping on a high-pitched shrieking rodent of some kind... maybe like an opossom.  But hey... if you like it, I guess we'll keep on spitting out new tunes and playing gigs.  Of course I jest... we are awesome.

In other news, we have a gig coming up, and it's going to be earth-shatteringly colossal.

WMMR's Local Shots Live w/ Jaxon!
Tuesday, February 12th
Doc Watson's Pub
216 S. 11th Street
10:00 PM

WMMR has changed the location of their local shots shows to Doc Watson's in center city.  So for all of you Stu's who never came to our weekday shows because you "don't want to come all the way to Manayunk on a weeknight... I have work tomorrow... waaahhhh!!!"  You are just going to have to come up with another excuse.  I suggest "I was on fire."

We went and checked out the location last night and saw Preston Swift, Sneak Across the Border and Undercast tear the place up.  All the bands totally rocked face and my man Julius Curcio played some awesome acoustic stuff on the 3rd floor in between the bands sets.

In conclusion... you have to come... if you dont come... you better have been on fire.

One two buckle my Stu,
Stu

For those of you who don't know about Jaxon's Local Shots, here is the scoop.  Jaxon, WMMR's afternoon DJ from 3-7, gets together some of the most choice bands from the Philadelphia area, takes one of their best tracks, and combines all the musical awesomeness into a compilation disc.  The disc is available in a number of record stores and online avenues for purchase, and all proceeds go to the
Philadelphia region's food-rescue organization, Philabundance.  Check them out at http://www.philabundance.org.

The fourth installment of Local Shots is set to come out in a couple weeks, and guess who has been chosen to be on the disc... none other than The Stu.

It's a great chance for us to have our music heard by tons of people who may otherwise never have done so.  As you know, with every pair of ears our music contacts... we become stronger.  Every soul our music touches feeds our desire to be heard... to write more music... better music... music that has the ability to make a man or woman with no rhythm dance... a child with no musical aspirations pick up a guitar and jam... the ability to turn a terrible traffic jam into an opportunity to really concentrate on some good tunes... to make a tone deaf person belt at the top of their lungs with no consideration for who is listening... and eventually... to bring people back from the dead.

But I digress.  This is all happening so fast.  The release party is only two short weeks away!  At the Trocadero!  Hell... we don't even know what track of ours is going to be on the disc yet!  We are hoping for Feces Pieces (<-- a little joke for major Stu's)

Jaxon's Local Shots Volume 4 Release Party
The Trocadero
1003 Arch Street
Saturday, December 8th

This show is going to be wild.  It is only $9.33 to enter (get it?), and you get a free copy of the CD with your ticket!  You really can't beat that, especially considering all the bands that will be jamming on one stage in one night... and all for charity!

12 bands will be performing throughout the evening.  It is an audience member's dream come true and a concert organizer's worst nightmare.  Here is a list of the bands joining us at The Troc and also to be featured on the Local Shots disc:

Undercast
Crooked Looks
Soraia
Far From Westfall
Magdalen
Spin
Smiles Project
Jealousy Curve
Enstride
Stealing December
Ike
Head
Disciples of Groove
Stillicide

So come out, bring some friends and rock face.

Don't bite off more than you can Stu,
Stu
