Saw you today in my reflection

and I smelled you in clothes

everything about you still hangs near

I miss you, my love

But when the sun beats down upon my face

it's your warmth, your touch, your light

so let the sun beat down upon my face

and I'll remember you.

Saw you today in my reflection

and I smelled you in my clothes

everything about you still hangs near

Come back to me, my love

But when the sun beats down upon my face

I can feel you next to me

so let the sun beat down upon my face

always...

He is the balm I spread that brings me relief

from this pain

I have found nothing else that brings such release

in these dark days I can't escape

so I'll run with it, love.

Everything is lost in time,

even him, even me

so (breathe) ha ha ha...

*Why not hold on to the way it was?*

Southern trees bear a strange fruit

blood on the leaves

and blood at the root

black body swingin' in the southern breeze

strange fruit hangin' from the poplar trees

Pastoral scene of the galant south

the bulging eyes

and the twisted mouth

scent of magnolia sweet and fresh

and the sudden smell of burning flesh

Here is a fruit for the crows to pluck

for the rain to gather

and the wind to suck

for the sun to rot, for a tree to drop

Oh!  Here is a strange and bitter crop.

Current mood:  creative

Bob Cerceo and I got together last night to rehearse some of the stuff we'll be performing on the 24th.  One of the things we worked on was one of my new pieces.  We will be deflowering that sucker on the 24th, so be sure to come out and see.  Oh - Bob is amazing.  It's going to be a stupid-good show.  Here's a little preview:

Once there was an altar

and we laid our love upon it

and we danced around it guilt free

as our bodies rested on it

and we wailed into the night sky

singing praises to the moonbeams

for warming us from on high

and lighting off our soul dream

The night is young, baby...

...you ain't got to go.

Once I had a lover

his name was your name, baby

and he touched all the right places

made me feel just like a lady

he compared my eyes to starlight

said my limbs were like the moonbeams

gave praises to The Most High

for lighting off our Soul Dream

The night is young, baby...

...you ain't got to go.

Once there was an altar

and we laid our lives upon it

and we gave ourselves as offering

for the greater things we wanted

and the angels broke out singing

heralding the birth of a new love

and God just sat there smiling

raining his blessings from above

The night is young, baby...

...you ain't got to go...
