Dead Heros are the new punk discovery on the east coast of the United States. From the
State where the Headache Records label is their home, Bandworm brings you their  second single out. When one thinks of Headache Records, bands
like Wretched Ones and Niblick Henbane come in mind and can best be
compared with Dead Heros style. Singer JJ processes enough Anger and energy in the music, and it both shows in the song "Four Years Flat", where JJ sings about his prison stay and denounces the United States prison system. The vocals roar into the microphone in the typical East Coast Punk Rock style. In total there

The "..SCHIZOPHRENIC E.P." reminds me why the 7' record can be the perfect medium for Punk.There's no filler here.Just 5 songs that perfectly capture the energy of the band... I couldn't help but feel like I was at a Dead Heros show while listening to the songs.The production is slick but not over done.

4 YEARS.. FLAT - A song about a tortured soul who's done time.Great, honest lyrics, and the guitar, drums, and bass set the mood. Sing along chorus that you'll want to rush the stage for.  SCHIZOPHRENIC - Total barrage on the senses and just when it lets up it knocks you back down. Pounding drums drive this song.GUIL.Y - This song is like a slow burn. Moody and heavy guitars set the tone. TRAGEDY - About the horrors of everyday life. Another great sing along chorus. ANOTHER DAY- Lyrics about being pushed to the brink of becoming a human time bomb. Another solid song.

Fans of the DEAD HEROS need this. If you are a fan of good ol' New Jersey Punk Rock in the vein of Headache Records, you owe it to yourself to check this out.

www.myspace.com/deadheros On the Dead Heros' MySpace page, 'Fucked At Birth' is posted next to their profile pic. Well that pretty much sums it up. Punk rock is not supposed to be pretty and Dead Heros definitely fucks it up a bit.
'So Far So Good So Fucked,' is their latest CD stuffed with gang-chorus lines intentionally meant for belting and reinforcing brotherhood, and after this set, they successfully have recruited me as one of their new followers. Taking stage in the dark belly of Stage 2 downstairs, there is an intimate feeling – like a secret society – that this is a zone not all can pass. I make my way to the front. Dead Heros has already began playing their opening song, 'I Hate This Life,' hypertoothing in chopped-guitar rhythms, and husky hard-choppy shouts storms through an empire of bass-fury with hacking drums that has me standing in bewilderment.
Resurging in old-school punk, Jeff, on lead vocals, certainly breaks down barriers when it comes to stereotypes—very capable of belting out damning, thwarty vocals that seems to make up for his smaller stature. He definitely can hold his own. Showing grit and 'roll-up-yer-sleeves,' street punk, fast-rabbit guitar licks from Johnny with weaves-in on a bass line, delivers the song, 'Slave To The 40.' As the song bangs through, I keep studying Jeff as he sings—(no offense Jeff)—as I just couldn't get over the passion and deep throaty vocals he was putting out.
Snapping through pictures, '4 Years Flat,' jumps in with a churning mid-tempo fuzz chunk that shoulders a heavy melody and a no-cop-out lead vocal line. "Hey's" in the chorus entices the crowd to collect at the microphone, and when the fuzz-chunk sound stops in the middle of the song, the steady bass rises above the lead riff. It occurred just then that Luke busted a string right in the middle of the riff. That doesn't seem to phase the rest of the band as Johnny quickly strings in a new one and plugs in the M8, breathing new life back into the melody. It is right then Jeff is leaning over the rail belting into the listener's faces as the rest of the crowd/posse joins without hesitation in the chorus line. 'Neck Deep In Bullshit,' switches in a crazy-ass schizo lead riff that screams red-hot immediacy. It took me a minute to wrap my head around it. Shifting into chord rhythm, Jeff stands sideways and puffs on a cigarette, between guttural shouts. While the rest of the Dead Heros canyons a raw-hide melody in Flogging Molly fashion, Jeff marvelously manages to continue to bark out the vocals while puffing on the same cigarette—as it sits limply relaxing on his lips—emanating thug-cool.
'Tragedy,' a surprise song, sludges in a quadruple guitar intensity that has all the skinheads up front rocking the barrier back and forth so hard that the metal frame is almost completely ripped out of the wall! Too bad security had to stop them. Still, the crowd keeps thrashing even after the song stops. In keeping with the momentum, 'Two Americas,' cranks out hard vocals, and monster-deep grit-rhythm over the subtle melody, that makes me think this may be their best song yet. Finishing off with, 'Unreachable,' Jeff gives full reign to push the mike into the drum hole, banging the cymbals, and pacing back and forth. It is just then suddenly he stumbles to the floor in drunken angst, as both Jeff and Johnny both collide onto the floor in weeble form, with instruments still playing until the bitter end to a stop.

Dead Heros have a top-flight EP out for you on Armens legendary Headache Records. These New Jersey punks and skins play solid punk rock in the NIBLICK HENBANE/WRETCHED ONES vein. The lyrics touch on the frustrations of youth trapped in the working class world of "have nots". One of the best lines is from "i hate this life": "im allergic to alcohol cause i break out in handcuffs." Good stuff!

REVIEW FROM PUNKROCKRECORDS.COM -  Dead Heros / Headache Records :  NJ's "Finest" Oi! vocalist, has just evolved onto the scene; and possibly may evolve further into a somewhat pungent following of first class baseball bat wielding; leather clad rockers & hoods. Dead Heroes. Nuff said pal; If you can hear two of history's best :The BUSINESS' Mickey Fit's style of chanting and a cigarette choked Harpo of NIBLICK HENBANE. they just laid out some brutal tracks of the most elemental GANG ANTHEMS ever.  I know these guys will give the now outdated and overrated DROPKICK MURPHYS a real street wise 1945 Bowery Boys style street beating. Drums, Guitar, and a phenomenal "walking bass". It's all here.

VARIOUS - Streets Of America- Hardcore Punk & Oi Compilation (United Riot Records)

18-track compilation featuring 18 different bands, which I presume, are all
from the U.S. judging by the title. Out of the 18 bands on here I have only
heard of two of 'em before, Fed Up and Skin Disorder, so I have no idea what
this is gonna sound like, here goes....First up are Criminal Intent with Oi
song 'Night Violence'. This track has one of the longest intros I've heard
and I was beginning to think it was an instrumental until the vocals kicked
in (after 1min 35 sec!!) Ohio River Rats are next with a badly recorded song
'Another Day'. This sounds weak when compared to the previous track. Fed Up
kick in next with 'Bitchslap' which is full on 1980's D.R.I. style hardcore.
'Shotgun Libertarian' by the Cut-Offs follows which is a straight up punk
song. Frontline Soldiers are next with 'Reclaim Strength' a really good Oi
song. Dead End Path play some good hardcore/Oi on 'Welcome to my World'
which reminded me of Agnostic Front. I wasn't gonna list all the tracks on
here but I changed my mind after hearing 'Working Man' by Breaking Point, an
excellent punk hardcore song. The next band have one of the worst names I've
ever heard of (which coming from an ex member of Lemon Enema is saying
something). Aggressive Housespider play fast metal punk which is let down by
badly recorded vocals. Reason to Fight sound like GBH crossed with Verbal
Abuse on 'Revolt' and is one of the stand out tracks. Skin Disorders'
'Pitbull Aggression' starts off well but then goes into a lame Oi by numbers
track. Korova have the best named track on the album 'Nazis Ruined Shaved
Heads' and play hardcore that wouldn't have been out of place in the early
90's. End of Humanity sound like a metal band until the song kicks in proper
on 'Fight 4 Life' a bit like Earth Crisis but not as heavy. I' m getting
bored of typing!!!!! The next band, Drink Fight Thugs have a good song with
' On the House' but it's not very well mixed and the vocals get a bit lost.
I'm might change my mind about Aggressive Housespider's name after reading
the next bands', 'Alleged Bricks' alleged to have done what? Their track
'F**k You' sounds like a Walrus grunting an old Exploited song. 'All I've
Got' by Step2Far has got to be one of the worst recordings I've ever heard
and I've heard some shit!! I thought 'Marching On' by Dead Heros was a
tribute to Leeds United but I was clearly mistaken, quite a good track
though. Nearly at the end now!! Under Investigation play like fast as you
like hardcore on 'Buffalo Rhino' (what's one of those then?) The last track
'U.S.A.' by Downlow is a live cover of an old Reagan Youth song and is
probably the best track on the album. The bottom line here is, it's a bit
hit and miss. Some good tunes let down by poor vocals or vice versa. I'd ask
to listen to it first before I bought it as there may be only a couple of
tracks on here you really like.

Dead Heros are one of my faves in the boot boi oi genre. Tight as a drum, good production and always delivering. This is one of 18 songs on this OI/Hardcore compilation from United Riot Records. And is availible on Obnoxious Records a parent company.
