Merry Christmas, and to the British folks, Happy Christmas! Hope you are all having a wonderful day however you've chosen to spend it. I thought now would be the perfect time to spread a little Christmas cheer by sharing some photos of Christmas decorations I found while visiting Hong Kong and Tokyo recently.

For some inexplicable reason, both Hong Kong and Tokyo are very fond of blue and purple Christmas decorations and some hotels, malls, and Corporate businesses get a little outlandish with thier designs.

The Times Square area of Hong Kong was flush with Christmas decorations in late November, but the most puzzling element was a giant bunny rabbit leaping onto street level from the first 2nd floor of the building. Maybe I'm not up on my Christmas lore, but I think this may be the most random Christmas decoration ever.

Next up, a visit to Harbour City, the largest mall in Hong Kong - and as such their Christmas decorations are pretty extreme. They have a very long staircase leading up to the entrance and the canopy overhead have every kind of Christmas decoration ever - gold stars, ice crystals, purple poinsettia (what did I say about the purple?), acorns, garland and ornaments. Just for reference, I didn't take a picture of a random couple, that's Lois and Bryan who acted as my Hong Kong tour guides.

In Tokyo, it was the Corporate light displays that impressed me more than the ones at the malls; if just for the creative themes. This one was built on an old train station and featured a train taking flight and the rest of the decorations around it depicted a futuristic space trains station - yes, it makes perfect sense.

And lastly, the most over-the-top light display - literally a sea of Christmas lights at Caretta in Shiodome. Shiodome is a business distract so there's not a lot of people around in the evening, but as you can see, there was a big crowded gathered around this Christmas attraction. Every now and then there was a laser light display synced to music and the purple Christmas tree in the center had a hollowed out center where people would pose and take pictures.

Merry Christmas!

Wondering what akai SKY has been up to lately? We're rehearsing to record an EP. Here's a video of one of our first rehearsals. Hayashi and Ryuusei goof off a little as we set up. Also see Hayashi's guitar and Umi's bass set up up close.

Hello all! akai SKY has been busily playing shows the last few weeks. We recently just got back from our last show in Las Vegas. We stayed at a hotel casino in Downtown Las Vegas, had some amazing prime rib and had lots of fun meeting the people at Anime Vegas and performing for them!

The week before last, we were performing at SacAnime, so you know we've definitely been busy little bees. Here's two videos from our performance in Sacramento (in 100-degree heat!)

Before we get to the videos though, have you seen
akai SKY's brand NEW website, yet? Please check it out! News, videos and blogs are all easily accessible through the new website!
