Converse in conjunction with Ourstage.com is putting on a contest where Two Grand Prize winners will receive an all expense-paid trip to play the Levi's®/FADER Fort, in Austin TX, to perform with Flying Machines, this March! Flying Machines was the Grand Prize winning band last year and since then, they have been signed by EMI and performed at countless venues. This would be fantastic exposure for songs like Struck Out and Diamond Prison!!
In addition, the winners will each receive a $1000 gift card from Guitar Center, $1000 in cash from OurStage plus some great gear from Converse and Levi's.

  1. Create an OurStage account by clicking here - it's free and super easy.
  2. Begin judging in the "Converse: Get Out of the Garage" Rock Channel. You have the power to help decide the Top 10 artists!
  3. Spread the word to fans and friends to get them to judge in the Rock Channel.

Not a musician? Not a problem.
By judging one fan will be selected as the Converse: "Get Out of the Garage" Best Predictor and win a trip to Levi's®/FADER Fort in Austin to see the winners perform. Daily prizes also available.

Get on out there and vote!  I just found out about this contest now and I think there's only two weeks to go....every little bit helps.  Once you sign up you'll spend about 5 seconds a day posting your vote.  Tx AZ land: You can one day say you helped make it all happen!

Been a while since I've blogged but I'm a busy bee :)

I'm posting for some insight as to which song tru AZ fans think I should make a video for.  I've got a guy with some real credits looking to help me out but as the artist, I'm biased.  I think every song should have a vid made for it.  But one thing at a time...

So tell me: which son I have up should I make a video for.  Don't be shy! Lemme know.....

Hey Gang here's some comments I just got:

"Great track....a perfect change of pace from Complete and
Poetry in Motion. Shows big time potential."
-----------------------------------------------------------
"Complacent is one of those songs that punches you in the
face right away. And just when you're about to have that heart attack
it gives you that breather. The dynamic silent vocal choruses really
help me understand the song that much more"
------------------------------------------------------------
"Very well put together track. Great dynamics and emphatic lyrics."

Hey Fans,

I'm looking for someone to help me make a cool looking caricature of myself for mass public exposure.  Something that is marketable such as the logos I have in my pictures album but more of a realistic image.  You'll get all the credits for it and if you're a budding designer you'll get the full benefits of my continuing promotional efforts and maybe even credits on "Telling Lies" when it comes out in April.

Check out the logos I have in my pics folder for ideas but I'm really looking for something w/more color and more cartoon-like.  Think along the lines of Japanimation.

Show me what you've got....and always: Keep Rockin!!!

Check it out:  My friend AJ and I have reached an agreement to allow his waaaay cool podcast (The Bald Guy Show) to debut my newest single "Complete".

Go to his site here and check it out.  AJ has been a huge supporter of mine and I couldn't think of anyone else's podcast to debut my newest song.

As I think about it more and more I realize that to me, the most important aspect of recording a song, EP, or a full length album is the vocal aspect of it.  I mean, when you hear a song on the radio what sticks in your mind?  What's the one thing that you remember most for the longest period of time??  The music or killer riff....maybe; but that will only last so long.  So what is it you say??

The lyrics and the melody.  Those are the things that usually connect with a person most.

So in that spirit, I take the recording of the vocals as the most important aspect of the tracking process.  You kinda have to go in focused.  Have a game plan of sorts.  And that game plan is to simply have no plan at all.  Relax and remember what it was that makes/made you sing those particular words in that particular way in the first place.  Regardless if the song is recent or one that's over 10 years old, what's the passion that brought you that song in the first place?

That is what you need to find.  And if/when you do, you should have no problem recording your songs(s).  The next time you sing along to your favorite tune try to imagine what you think it was that made the singer recite that line in that way.  From freestyling rap to the most of melodious of hooks it all comes from a passion deep inside a person's mind, body and soul.

Off I go.......Keep on rockin'

Hey guys,

Just booked a second show for Halloween @ Club W.  They've got three parties going on at the same time and thanks to Chris Lunsford and Joe from DTD Promotions (tx guys!) we'll be on around 1 am.  Now you've got two choices to see us rock this coming Friday Night.

I'll have the flyer in my possession very soon.....

Hey,

I've been talking up our show next week @ The Yard and while most people don't know where it is, they love the fact that it's all inclusive in the price of admission.  So let me explain again that the price of admission ($25 w/costume and $30 w/o) includes all the food and beer/wine you can drink!!!

Think about it:  If you go out next Friday and buy 4-5 drinks you're going to spend what you'd spend for the price of admission to my show and you're not even getting food!  Come out to The Yard and you can drink as much as you want and then eat as much as you want.  And trust me the food from Bohemian Hostess is the BOMB!!  I'll forward the full menu this coming week as things get finalized.  It's not bullshit hot dogs/hamburgers.  We're talking Paninis, Beef Nagamaki, fancy crustini's (that you can eat 10,000 of) and more.  And once again, it's ALL INCLUSIVE in the price of admission!!

So what do you think?  4-5 drinks for $25 or unlimited drinks AND food @ the AZ show....

Forget your typical bars.  This is an old, dirty warehouse we're going to deliberately not clean or light very well so that you have something different to experience this Halloween.

Check your bulletins.  I'm really psyched about our Halloween show this year!!
