Mister King of the Desert and Mister Arizona USofA MI :
Personal Interview:( Be the real you)
Each contestant will be interviewed individually by the judging panel. The purpose of the Personal Interview in the USofA system is to allow the judges some insight into the character of each contestant. During the interview, the judges are also afforded the opportunity to evaluate each contestant's basic qualities, such as intelligence, ability to communicate, attitude, composure, etc. The judges may also gather information about a contestant's professional or personal life.
The basic nature of the interview is intended to be casual and relaxed. The suggested attire for the interview is business casual day wear, male or female; however, each contestant should select clothing in which he feels at ease. You should dress as you would for a professional job interview.
Talent: ( Highest scoring category)
Talent may be any type of entertainment presentation as long as it does not create any danger or injury to either the contestant or anyone else. No animals or reptiles may be used in your talent presentation. You may not use fire, water, or glitter in your talent presentation. Talent presentation is limited to seven (7) minutes in length. Prop setup and tear down time is limited to 5 minutes total. There is no restriction on the number of people who may be involved in the presentation.
Remember that the Mister King of the Desert USofA MI  Staff and/or the Herberger Theater do not provide contestants with backstage staff for prop set-up and tear down, although we will assist with your props as much as possible. The backstage staff will not, under any circumstance, be responsible for any damage to props while helping a contestant. Each contestant must secure his own storage of props at all times.
Creative Evening Wear (All that glitters)
For Creative Evening Wear, think: Hollywood Premiere 'Red Carpet' Attire. Creative Evening Wear may be of any color or style; however, they must incorporate pants and a jacket. Creative Evening Wear should not be overdone to the point of being a costume. It should be believable to the point that you might see the outfit at a major Red Carpet event.
Example: IF you were going to an International Leather Premier, you would wear evening evening wear made from Leather or accessorized with it.
If you were going to the MTV, BET, or Grammy Awards, you would choose your evening wear based on the genre of music you listen to... ie. Marilyn Mason, P-Diddy, Kenny Chesney, SuperNova, Techno, etc...
Contestants are urged to research examples of Creative 'Red Carpet' Evening Wear by searching their genre on the internet or watching red carpet events on television.
Contestant will be judged on originality, presentation, technicality, and fit.
If you have any questions on this category please drop us a message and we will elaborate more.
