Fighting Tigers
Beating hearts and tempered moans erupt from the bedroom walls, but there’s no love between those sheets, just a reckless and cold release. So breathe slow, they’ll never know if you keep your voices low enough. Sleep tight past sunrise, only to wake up alone. Fading lights for desperate souls holding out for the ones they loved to come home and hold them close, a heart is no home for loneliness. Our heroes are in freefall. They couldn’t find their worth in the free world. High up from the rat race they jump one by one from buildings and fly away, far from the souls they came to save, and hate.
2. The Rest Will Follow
One and all! Our hearts in the jaws of the lions keeping score as we lose our minds to violence. As shots rang around the neighbourhood, you lit a smoke and turned the TV up. Kicked back for the midnight broadcast "All we love is all we cannot have!" The pixels on the dusty screen numb the weight of formalities like love, debt, death and regret "All you know is all you have been shown!" As we all spend our days chasing things that are never there and never were. Let this go and be sure that the rest will follow. One and all! Our lives in the hands of the liars marching forth now we've sold our pride for silence. Cops swarm around the roadside and there's a body of a child lying nearby, he can't be more than fifteen years old "All you know is all you have been shown!" Propped up against a disused lamppost with the medics fast approaching, he looks up and with his last breath says "All we love is all we cannot have."
3. I Turned To Knife Crime
We spray the walls with curses and insults. Empty promises line the floors that we pace down. We used to talk before the walls took us for every letter we loved and left us this relentless anger. A message unread, a call left unanswered, drunken letters were scrawled and left on the front door. Now valium comes in monthly prescriptions but sleep brings dream after dream of you in your best clothes. Summer sent us among the young lovers, winter wailed her woes and pressed on the windows. Four walls have taught us more in just ten months than we ever could learn from years at our folk’s home. Before the roars a chase must come, but for all our wars we’ve no breath left to run. In one cold sentiment, we all left town and hit the road, to watch it grow and to watch it fall. And when the wind came rolling in, we shed tears but soldiered on, now watch them come and watch them go.
4. You Can’t Outnumber A Mathematician*
Tell me, young friend, did you lose your head when he muttered those three words you craved, yet feared like a fever? Did they send the ache into remission? Offer you the required attention? Your heart beats at it peak again when the light flicks off and the lips have locked. Throw me some rope that can take my weight when I’m hanging on your words. No tones resonate from a watched phone, waiting on a call to break the silence, a synergy to negate the cycle of wants and needs, apologies get the best of you and the rest of me. Young heart roams for a sun among the storms, a sure faith, a new wave to break on. Reckless new dawns reignite the waning fires that we should have left alone. The stereo makes no sound, but you’ll be waiting round for hours for that song to come take you home and back again. Above the vials we chase our tails and pour warmth on the coldest thoughts, as the infallible youth let their intentions be known with suggestive glances and hellos. There’s more of the same and the same of the old, and in a moment of reflection we might ponder just how we’ve grown to become everyone and everything we always loathed, but the moment always passes once the chorus takes hold.
(* credit to Robin for helping out with the words to the chorus)
A Devil Among The Dancers
In a place where no one is at, we'll slip secrets in the silence. The night leans on the overpass as a city blinks in the distance. As safe homes and circuit boards, our limbs will work together to keep warm and in control should the urge to bail take us. He knows she knows, and she knows he knows, an unbreakable adhesive is the fear of being alone. Every dance has an invitation for a little reciprocation, but hold on tight because once we start this can never stop. We talk about the things we know, but steer clear of the things we don't, like how to act in situations when an attraction overtakes our hearts, heads and all the rest. I can't be cool if I'm a nervous wreck. We took a walk to the promenade, as we would for the next ten weekends. If every dance has an invitation for a little reciprocation, this night will end us all.
6. Where The Good Ships Go To Sink
Hope is the gallows upon which we tie the ropes that swing wild in the breeze, there to choke us on our insecurities. We spent our wishes on love and riches but ended up poorest of all, with no one to call our own and a list of things that we wish we’d done. Drop the anchors beneath the wailing waters, where the good ships go to sink another mystery upon the ocean floor. We kept the letters our loved ones sent us in a box amongst the rations as Disaster cut for every corner of the atlas. When records turn but make no sound, at twenty four we could turn this around to find something more. Stars in the eyes of the ones who fight. Stars in the eyes of the ones who take flight.
7. Sons Of Daughters*
By the time we’d caught up with the rest they’d fallen in drunk love amongst themselves below the fulsome familiar bar light. It’s all second chances, half truths and sideways glances for something more before settling for what they know. Revelries swell when thel overs come around. By the time they’d shored up, the light broke on the valley of cold hearts and gutter morals, all reason leaves when lust takes over. With no grasp of romance their ships pass with a dalliance, far from contented shores, below slack sails and severed stanchions. A cover she sells when the lovers come around. She’s back from the dealers and mixing up with the weekend heroes, the white lines and fast lives, step off they’ll all bleed you dry. Shake these souls! The sort better left on the bedroom floors of broken homes on token roads. Your love is a better left book beneath the rosary you keep in hope that divinity can someday radiate and perpetrate another way.
(* credit to both Kai and Robin for contributing words to the second verse)
8. Mary Anne, Come Out Tonight…
Mary Anne is broken, surrounded by photographs of time she'll never get back, Polaroid’s kept by old childhood toys. All alone and soaking up sounds from the radio before the shakes take hold, who'd have known that love would break us all? Weighed down by the books upon her bed, the books she bought but never read. They would tell…Held back by the anchors in her head, the words she thought but never said. They would yell… now burn like a star and turn the world. Ambulance races around the indifference of 4am drivers, siren on, making like a song. A symphony embroiled with the chords of this tragedy, a key change we never could see but we should've known that trust would break us all…Mary Anne, save me a seat on the stars above, before the nights over I'm coming up for one last kiss and one last dance.
(‘Mary Anne’ is dedicated to our friend Alyn Thomas, 03/11/1986 – 21/08/2009)
9. Young Loins
The lights are indigo, so go, why wait when the roads so empty? Under a canvass of silence, the nightfall seems like the best part of these days. So stay awake…
(Todd contributed both the slide and acoustic guitar tracks to this song)

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/bethanelfyn/Thursday 25th June 2009. Thank you Future Of The Left, Jen Long, Mark, Bernie, Pulled Apart By Horses and anyone involved in the 'secret' gig on Sunday. It was a blast, and a total pleasure. Bethan plays 'Fighting Tigers' and 'I Turned To Knife Crime' - and you can hear Robin and I jibber jabbering away about the band and that too in an interview we did with Jen.

There’s No Business Like No Business
High time I ran on intuition when our ties get bound and burned at every turn. All I find are ways to remain the same within confines that I’ll spend a life re-pitching. Alight is the runway leading into a city I don’t believe in. Old songs for older bones emanate from a radio below the wrought hearts and roving souls. Burdened, but not alone. One night fate an apparition and our lives found ourselves a purpose up against the tides we’ve fought but never sought to wade inside beyond our fear of overreaching. I’ll leave footprints upon the path where my old man walked to work. I’ll grind all day and drink these nights from a dirty glass under faint bar light.

Hey. Our Adam Walton sessions (with our Carl Bevan at the mixing desk) got broadcast last Sunday. They sound great and we'd like to thank Adam for all his continued support, and Carl for doing such a great job on the songs. We appreciate it more than we can suitably enunciate it! Keep listening to Adam's show on BBC Radio Wales at 10pm every Sunday as it's consistantly great, and we'll be recording with Carl again in the next couple of months for an EP release - our first official release, nonetheless. The show is already online and can be heard in it's entirety from the link below.http://www. bbc. co. uk/iplayer/episode/b00gs0jj/Adam_Walton_18_01_2009/<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />....

Hey. Here are the lyrics to the demo's we recorded in 2008 that are doing the rounds.
1) Mary Anne....
.. ..
Mary Anne, broken, surrounded by photographs of time she'll never get back, Polaroid’s kept by old childhood toys. All alone, soaking up sounds from the radio before the shakes take hold, who'd have known that love would break us all? Weighed down by the books upon her bed, the books she bought but never read. They would tell…Kept back by the anchors in her head, the words she thought but never said. They would yell… Burn like a star, turn the world. Ambulance races around the indifference of ..four am.. drivers, sirens on, making like a song. A symphony embroiled with the chords of this tragedy, a key change we never could see but we should've known that trust would break us all…Mary Anne, save me a seat on the stars above, before the nights over I'm coming up for one last kiss and one last dance.....
.. ..
2) I Turned To Knife Crime....
.. ..
We spray the walls with curses and insults. Empty promises line the floors that we pace down. We used to talk before the walls took us for every letter we loved and left us this relentless anger. A message unread, a call left unanswered, drunken letters were scrawled and left on the front door. Four walls have taught us more in just ten months than we ever could learn from years at our folk’s home. Before the roars a chase must come, but for all our wars we’ve no breath left to run. One cold Saturday some built love upon stone to watch it grow, and to watch it fall when the wind came rolling in. They shed tears but soldiered on; now watch them come, and watch them go.....
.. ..
3) The Rest Will Follow....
.. ..
One and all! Our hearts in the jaws of the lions, keeping score as we lose our minds to violence. Shots rang around the neighbourhood as you lit a smoke and turned the TV up. Kicked back for the ..midnight.. broadcast "All we love is all we cannot have!". The pixels on the dusty screen numb the weight of formalities like love and debt, death and regret "All you know is all you have been shown!". As we all spend our days chasing things that are never there and never were. Let this go and be sure that the rest will follow. One and all! Our lives in the hands of the liars, marching forth, now we've sold our pride for silence. Cops swarm around the roadside and there's a body of a child lying nearby. He can't be more than fifteen years old "All you know is all you have been shown!". Propped up against a disused lamppost with the medics fast approaching, he looks up and with his last breath says "All we love is all we cannot have!".....
.. ..
4) To Die A Pioneer!....
.. ..
This angel escaped the choir and set off for the lake of fire where hearts are traded with perfect strangers. A dance led to several more as the juice led to shots of vodka until every passing song arrived like an anthem. Slow jams for the lovers, hard rock for the heroes. No end to the constant weekend, but no way could you keep the pace without burning up and out. This angel is beat and tired of making the most of bad nights chasing saviours in the worst kind of places. She’s anchored to past mistakes and not getting any younger, but come now, another round to drown our problems? Cold hands under covers, hot lights over dreamers. No end to the constant weekend, but no way could you keep the pace without burning up and out.....
.. ..
5) Young Hearts....
.. ..
We could never keep track of all the holes and the cracks in our hearts. Those times we beat the walls with balled up fists, our knuckles torn. You and I weren’t meant to be, we were young and got carried away, do or die, it was us against the world. I’d found my place in life at the side of a girl. As the weeks rolled by I fell in love with every inch of your body and your touch. We’d get drunk and laugh til’ the light resigned, falling asleep with a smile, side by side. Hand in hand on ..midnight.. strolls I’d tell you stories of old and you’d tell me yours, I hung on every word you said and at every drawn out pause I’d kiss your blood red lips. But we couldn’t keep the act up as those long weeks turned into months; we were both living in denial on borrowed time and on plastic smiles. On the night it all fell apart, underneath an audience of stars, I held you close and whispered soft “never look back and always stay strong”. For all the young hearts, should we fall apart, repair yourself with music. Sweethearts come and go and it gets hard when it get’s low, but keep your head, don’t lose it. To the one that got away, pick a star and raise a whiskey, wish them all the best.....
.. ..
6) A Devil Among The Dancers....
.. ..
In a place where no one is at, we'll slip secrets in the silence. The night leans on the overpass, a city blinks in the distance. As safe homes and circuit boards, our limbs will work together to keep warm and in control should the urge to bail take us. He knows she knows, and she knows he knows an unbreakable adhesive is the fear of being alone. Every dance has an invitation for a little reciprocation, but hold on tight because once we start this can never stop. Talk, talk about the things we know, steering clear of the things we don't, like how to act in situations when an attraction overtakes our hearts, heads and all the rest. I can't be cool if I'm a nervous wreck. We took a walk to the promenade, as we would for the next ten months.....

Hope is the gallows upon which we tie the ropes that swing wild in the breeze, there to choke us on our insecurities. 8) You Cannot Outnumber A Mathematician....
.. ..
Benny lit a smoke on the rocks by the River Severn and choked “If this is love, box me up and ship me off away from the pretty faces, false hope and misplaced faith. And when I reach a shore, I’ll find a new face to call my own”. More and more the panic shows, searching for a signal, simple logic will conquer all “It’s all we have and it’s all we’ve got to hold”. More and more the anger grows, searching for a reason, simple logic will save us all "It's all we know and it's all we've got to hold". (Unfinished).
