YO!
Been a little while since I have checked in here, just to let you know that since I last blogged things have been good and productive. I moved up to London a couple of weeks ago to see what was going on up here... and it turns out... there's a lot more going on up here than there is in Bournemouth. Like Mark Knopfler head paintings..

Soo... I put up 'Talk To Me' which features the 'dreamy' vocal talents of David Ryan Harris. When I listen to it now, I like to think of us holding hands, singing into each others eyes - a kinda of 2009 version of 'The Girl is Mine' ... however we had to resort to using iChat, and smiley faces  to get the song together.

For those of you who have not heard of DRH... check him out here

The album is set for release in February and tour dates will follow... so watch out!

HELLO !
I've decided to put up previews of some of the tracks from 'Trouble' for you guys to hear.

It's been a very busy and productive last couple of months, I've got to play with some of my favorite musicians in the world and also complete my second album.

We started rehearsing and recording at Room With A View studios, beginning of April, with Tom Latham on Bass and Phil Wilson on the drums and also Bill Mudge on Keys. Not having recorded properly in the studio doing my stuff since 2005, it was a great experience working with them and also Robbie McIntosh who brought his magic to a couple of the tracks and let me cover one my favorite songs of his 'Scarecrow'. Watching Robbie play is like an eduction in music and guitar playing.

Also David Ryan Harris, who is not only one of the best singers/ guitar player/ songwriters out there at the moment, but also one of the nicest guys I have ever met, was nice enough to sing on a song called 'Talk To Me' which is a cover that Babyface original wrote and Eric Clapton played on. I'd always loved the song, and wanted to do something a bit different with it.  That and 'Scarecrow' are the only covers on the album.

I have mixed and produced the album myself, not something I though I would necessarily be able to do a few years ago. But over the last two years I have mixed and produced a few different artists (James Parker, The Bizets) and I feel I learnt a lot about the technical side of things and also what to listen out for production wise. It gave me the confidence to give it a go myself, and for a couple of months I could pretend I was Quincy (Jones not ME).

Look out for a release date very soon!

Thanks!
SM

I have a copy of the FINAL master CD in my hand, as I listen back to the mixes, it feels kind of surreal to hear the finished product after so many months of recording/ mixing/ listening/ playing and working on this album.

I name it 'Trouble'.

The Girl
I Can Tell
Trouble
Scarecrow [Feat. Robbie McIntosh]
Talk To Me [Feat. David Ryan Harris]

I can honestly say I've put my heart and soul into this album. I can't wait for you to hear it.

Very excited to have announced some shows for 2009, we will be adding lots more over the next few weeks / months. I'm very lucky to be opening up for one of my favorite bands the Arc Angels in London at the end of May. It's an honor to be on the same bill as my hero's, for those of you who may not know who the Arc Angel's are: Chris Layton ( from Double Trouble), Doyle Bramhall ii and Charlie Sexton. They first formed in the early 90s and are re-forming now, I believe, to realease a brand new live album and dvd.

I am just working on finishing some songs for when I go into the studio in a couple of weeks, I'll be sure to keep you all updated during the recording process, with video blogs and snippets of songs we'll be working on.

HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLO.

I thought I would check in and let you know I will be recording my new album in April, which will feature some people I am very proud to be working with. Very much looking forward to getting my new music out there. I know it's been a while since the last CD, but I wanted to take a bit of time over getting the songs right and wait till I had something new to say. Rather than just churning out more of the same.

There will be a tour once the album is done and a lot more UK dates so stay tuned. Very much looking forward to playing at the Albert Hall with Joe Bonamassa in May, it's an honor to be on the same bill.

Thank you to anyone that has come to any of my gigs, bought my CD, or listened to my music.. I appreciate all the positive support.

Good things..

Scott
