Bubbz appears to be one of those characters of Bristol, his relaxed manner and almost care free approach to life has put him in good stead for what he hopes will be a swift climb up the ladder to success. We sat with him in his local Barber Shop on City Road and the producer/rapper discussed his current single ''Be Easy'' . Which you can pick up in HMV, and buy on Zavvi. He describes his sound as ''Wildhip''. ..............
Who are you?
I am Legend. No I'm 'Bubbz'' aka ''Chief'' aka ''Mr Hard Working'' aka ''I'll Suprise You'' aka ''Dont underestimate me'' aka '' Wildhip'' aka '' Rhyme Minister'' but just call me Bubbz
How old are ?
Old enough to know about Captain Bucky o hare and young enough to be EVA Longoria's toy Boy.
Where are you from?
I'm from LDN via Bristol, England, Europe, Earth the Universe, born as a result of my Ghanaian parents practising gym moves.
Describe what you do for a living?
I make Music, perform, present, act, sell clothes infact i just got an email to be a stylist for a certain someone, so if you want my consultations, myspace me.
Who has inspired you to write and produce music?
Roy Ayres, OutKast, SoSolid, Joe Batan, Mike Skinner, Mos Def the list goes on i get inspired all the time. Just for the record MD and Mp3 i would like to say thank you to the Nigerian traffic warden he certainly inspired me with that fine, if you know what i mean, bliming c*"£.
What do you think of the scene in Bristol firstly, also in the rest of the UK.
Hmm this one, I kind of have a love hate relationship with this topic. I think Bristol is getting there and is a very strong creative generator, but there is not enough of an industry here, most of the music media that drive scenes are based in LDN this therefore limits how far this city can push, but with the likes of yourselves of course, this is changing slightly. But I do feel Bristol needs to feel more comfortable about starting something of there own rather than looking down to LDN all the time. I'm not sure about the rest so it would be wrong for me to comment.
Where is your favourite hang out in Bristol?
Tube, can I get in for free now Bernie? But this said there is to many guys..... that's another thing I find when I go out in Bristol the good music spots don't have enough females, but the spots with hamster poo music have a waterfall of pretty girls , what's that about? this said the ronson gig and I Luv Live actually had a bag of attractive females so maybe i should take that back.
When you go out where can we expect to find you?
You won't find me I'm so black, I blend in with the background.
Imagine yourself in Five years, where can you see yourself, what could you see yourself achieving?
Two quality albums an EP, a Mars Award .....oh sorry I mean Mercury Award, a pop belly, Wifey and a mini me still swimming waiting for his break.....
If you had to shoot one of the Jacksons who would it be? And Why?
Janet. What the hell she doing with Pee wee Hermin, o sorry i mean Jermaine Dupri, come on Janet leave him for me. i'll pay for your food stamps and get you a nice P reg Nissan Micra ...(laugh)
When are you next performing at I Love Live?
Not sure you'll have to start a campaign to get me at the next one, so the promoter will ask me to go down, I mean the crowd loved the last one so i'm good to go again really.
How important is that kind of event for Black and Urban music?
Very....it acts as a platform for many Artists, and a showcase of what Bristol has to offer, what's good about it too is it acts as a building block for a stronger scene and industry particularly in Bristol.
