Current mood: indescribable
Hey Guys, Hope everyone is doing well...gearing up for the holiday season and keeping warm. I've been listening to Christmas music like it's my job for the past week or so. Anyway, just wanted to drop a quick note with some brand new lyrics. Yesterday, Zach and I sat down for the first time to write with our brand new roommate, Alexis Babini ( www.myspace.com/AlexisBabini) and came up with this new one, called "Borrowed Time."
Borrowed Time Words and Music by Ron Pope, Alexis Babini, and Zach Berkman
I was watching, As you were talking, And day turned into dreams. Light keeps fading, Now we're both strangers, As I fall to my knees.
Come on and get me high.
Tonight, tonight, We're living on borrowed time. Tonight, I won't lie, We're living on borrowed time. Sinking slowly so it always, Feels like we'll never get out alive. Tonight, tonight, We're living on borrowed time.
Cold rain falling, These words get farther, From what we really mean. Dust has settled, Your eyes towards Heaven. The devil never sleeps.
Come on and get me high.
Tonight, tonight, We're living on borrowed time. Tonight, I won't lie, We're living on borrowed time. Sinking slowly so it always, Feels like we'll never get out alive. Tonight, tonight, We're living on borrowed time.
We're living on borrowed time. We're living on borrowed time.
Tonight, tonight, Come on and get me high. Tonight, I won't lie...
Ya'll be good to each other and dress in layers! = ) Rp

Current mood: geeky
Hey Guys,
Today was a busy one...Zach, Paul, and I were supposed to be in the studio recording a new tune, but scheduling conflicts forced us to cancel, so Zach and I spent the day at home writing. We finished a brand new one called "I Don't Mind if You Don't Mind" and I've tossed those lyrics onto the bottom of this message. We've got a bunch of sessions booked over the next month and we're hoping to have demos done for every song that we think we want on the album by the end of the year...fingers crossed! Work, work, working!
The past few weeks haven't been all that eventful...most days, you can find us writing...a lot...like, almost constantly...it's intense. We're playing for keeps with this one. I've said all along that I want this album to be really different from anything we've done before...if you haven't had a chance, please hit up my myspace (www.myspace.com/RonPopeNY) and listen to "I Believe" and the brand new version of "A Drop In The Ocean" for a sample of what my new album will feel like...obviously, it's quite a departure from anything I've done before but I feel like we're still maintaining the core of what makes my music work for the people it works for...at least I hope so, otherwise we're going to be working at Starbucks by this time next year. ha
In real life, non-music related news, today (November 10th) is my friend (and guitarist for The District) Chris Kienel's birthday, so make sure to send him some love! We're going to get some bbq with the boys and raise as much hell as we can manage on a Tuesday night. Wish us luck!
Here are those lyrics I mentioned...
I Don't Mind if You Don't Mind
Words by Ron Pope
Music by Ron Pope and Zach Berkman
My blood runs red from the streets to the sewers,
To the blue black ocean. I'm caught in the tide,
But I don't mind if you don't mind.
I wash away the filth of the city,
As I lose myself here right before your eyes,
But I don't mind if you don't mind.
I'm all right, I'm all right, I'm all right,
I don't mind if you don't mind.
I'm all right, I'm all right.
I watch the rain fall clean from the heavens,
As the skies part open I search for a sign,
But I dont mind if you don't mind.
Collecting dust in lines on the pavement,
In this sweet surrender; running out of time,
But I don't mind if you don't mind.
I'm all right, I'm all right, I'm all right,
I don't mind if you don't mind.
I'm all right, I'm all right.
I'm all right, I'm all right, I'm all right,
I don't mind if you don't mind.
I'm all right, I'm all right.
I will stand up,
I will stand up,
I will stand up,
Won't you stand up?
I will stand up,
I will stand up,
I will stand up,
Won't you stand up?
I'm all right, I'm all right, I'm all right,
I don't mind if you don't mind.
I'm all right, I'm all right.
I'm all right, I'm all right, I'm all right,
I don't mind if you don't mind.
I'm all right, I'm all right.
I'm all right, I'm all right, I'm all right,
I don't mind if you don't mind.
I'm all right, I'm all right.
I will stand up,
I will stand up,
I will stand up,
Won't you stand up?
I will stand up,
I will stand up,
I will stand up,
Won't you stand up?
Thanks for taking the time to listen to my music. I appreciate it more than you'll ever know. By the way, are you following me on twitter yet? www.twitter.com/RonPopeMusic Do it! Ya'll be good to each other. Goodnight!

Current mood: thankful
Hey Guys,
Today is the big day...a brand new version of "A Drop In The Ocean," the first single from first major label release, is now available most places around the world on iTunes (and if it isn't available where you live, it should be up by Friday)!!! I'm TRYING not to freak out. Deep cleansing breaths. ha
I've never asked ya'll to do anything like this before because I didn't want to be annoying and like every other artist but honestly, I could really use your help on this one. There's a little message below; please Facebook and Myspace status it, tweet it, send it out as bulletins to your myspace friends, email your friends, make it your away message, make a facebook event about it, text your cousin from Boise to tell her, call that girl you met at yoga...wherever you go, whatever you do, please take the message below with you and share it with people and ask them to pass it on, too. To be completely candid with ya'll, signing with a label didn't instantly add some huge promotional machine to my life, so honestly, the best and most important way for people to find out what's up with me is, just like always, from all of you.
More than anything in the world, I want to get this song to crack the iTunes top 100 this week and I KNOW that we can do it on our own with word of mouth. Please do it and keep doing it all week.
Here's the message and link:

Thank you so much for everything you've done for me. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. Let's get this song into the top 100!!! Ahhhhhh! Rp

Here are the lyrics to something we wrote today...
Alone
Words by Ron Pope
Music by Ron Pope and Zach Berkman
The things that I remember,
The things that I forget,
The answers I surrender,
The secrets that I kept.
When morning comes to take you,
I'll try to shield my eyes,
Betray all my misgivings,
The truth I hope to find.
Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
I don't want to be alone.
You ask about forgiveness,
I ask what you regret.
We both stare out the window,
And pray for this to end.
As silence taints the darkeness,
There's not much more to say.
We're shadows and illusions.
Please don't walk away.
Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
I don't want to be alone.
Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
I don't want to be alone.
I'm all out of questions,
You're all out of lies,
We're here alone together,
Refuse to say goodbye.
Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
I don't want to be alone.
Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
Oh, oh, oh,
I don't want to be alone.
I don't want to be alone.
I don't want to be alone.
I don't want to be alone.
Thanks in advance for checking out all the new stuff. Don't forget to follow me on Twitter at www.Twitter.com/RonPopeMusic Today, I posted a link to a picture of a red panda...doesn't get too much better than that, my friends.

Current mood: adventurous
Hey Guys,
Wanted to tell ya'll about a bunch of stuff that we've got going on...first of all, I'm doing a special, acoustic show in New York, to celebrate my birthday (which is this coming week). The show is this coming Friday, July 24th at 9pm. I'm playing at The Bitter End (147 Bleecker St. between Thompson and LaGuardia). The show is $10, 18+, and I'll be playing most of the set completely acoustic, all my myself. I'll be playing a few brand new songs which will be on my upcoming album. Hope to see ya'll there. It's very rare for me to play acoustic shows anymore, so if you're interested in seeing me do that sort of thing, come check this one out.
I've got a new video up of the band and I playing "Georgia." Check it out at www.Youtube.com/RonPopeMusic
This week, we're going to finish recording my new singles...we're having a big string section come in on Thursday...we're recording them in a HUGE room here in New York. The room is by far the biggest, fanciest one we've ever worked in, which is super exciting. Every time we walk in to a big league studio like this, I get crazy excited like a little kid. I can not wait for ya'll to hear these new recordings!!! I'm so proud of the work we're doing.
Please check out my twitter and become a follower...www.Twitter.com/RonPopeMusic
Here are my newest batch of lyrics...
Tightrope
Words and Music by Ron Pope
I woke up before the sun,
Chased your ghost across the yard,
Through the fog and tumbling dark,
'Til you were gone.
Virginia, I can hardly breathe,
I've forgotten how to sleep,
And your face still haunts my dreams,
When I'm alone.
So now I'm walking on a tightrope wire,
Too far off the ground.
I'm imagining the words you said,
When last I saw your mouth.
Yes, I'm walking on a tightrope wire,
So afraid to fall,
And I'd tell you that I miss you, but I'm sure,
It doesn't matter at all.
The things I gave away,
They're not coming back for me.
Should've learned from my mistakes,
But I never do.
As I lay here all alone,
I hang up before I call,
And admit to all my faults,
To pass the time.
So now I'm walking on a tightrope wire,
Too far off the ground.
I'm imagining the words you said,
When last I saw your mouth.
Yes, I'm walking on a tightrope wire,
So afraid to fall,
And I'd tell you that I miss you, but I'm sure,
It doesn't matter at all.
There's a place we used to go,
Today I went alone.
If there's a message in this song,
Well, I don't know.
So now I'm walking on a tightrope wire,
Too far off the ground.
I'm imagining the words you said,
When last I saw your mouth.
Yes, I'm walking on a tightrope wire,
So afraid to fall,
And I'd tell you that I miss you, but I'm sure...
So now I'm walking on a tightrope wire,
Too far off the ground.
I'm imagining the words you said,
When last I saw your mouth.
Yes, I'm walking on a tightrope wire,
So afraid to fall,
And I'd tell you that I miss you, but I'm sure,
And I'd tell you that I miss you, but I'm sure,
It doesn't matter at all.
Thanks for reading. Hope to see lots of you at the show. Ya'll be good to each other.

Hey Guys,
Haven't written to ya'll in ages, so thought I'd stop in and catch you up on some stuff...
First of all, my brother John (UH Productions) just posted a new video from my last show...check it out at www.Youtube.com/RonPopeMusic For the next few weeks, every Wednesday, we'll be posting a new video there, so stop by, check them out and subscribe. This first video is of the band and I playing Jimi Hendrix's "Little Wing."
If you're not following me on Twitter yet, now is SO the time...www.Twitter.com/RonPopeMusic
We were in Seattle last week to start recording my new single for Universal. We got to work with Matt Chamberlain (Pearl Jam, The Wallflowers, and pretty much everybody else)...Matt's one of my favorite drummers ever, and he was a pleasure to work with, so it was really a spectacular experience. I can't wait for all of you to hear the new version of "A Drop In The Ocean." It's starting to sound like I'd always hoped it would...
I've been writing a lot recently. We're pretty close to done writing for my new album. Here are the lyrics to one of my new songs...
Wherever You Go
Words and Music by Ron Pope and Zach Berkman
'Cause when the daylight bends, I'll follow you,
And if the pavement ends, I'll drive it off the road.
When the daylight bends, I'll follow you,
Wherever you go.
Wherever you go.
I'd say I miss you, but think I'd choke on the words.
Dreamt a picture, and you don't know how it hurts.
I've been thinking, just how to tell you, so
Here I go...
So here I go.
'Cause when the daylight bends, I'll follow you,
And if the pavement ends, I'll drive it off the road.
When the daylight bends, I'll follow you,
Wherever you go.
Wherever you go.
I had a nightmare; woke to the sound of your voice,
But you don't sleep here. I lay awake in the dark.
I've been screaming, but you don't hear me
At all...
So here I go.
'Cause when the daylight bends, I'll follow you,
And if the pavement ends, I'll drive it off the road.
When the daylight bends, I'll follow you,
Wherever you go.
Wherever you go.
'Cause when the daylight bends, I'll follow you,
And if the pavement ends, I'll drive it off the road.
When the daylight bends, I'll follow you,
Wherever you go.
'Cause when the daylight bends, I'll follow you,
And if the pavement ends, I'll drive it off the road.
When the daylight bends, I'll follow you,
Wherever you go.
Wherever you go.
Wherever you go.
Wherever you go.
Wherever you go.
Next time you have a second, check out my friend Billy Simons's new stuff. We've always enjoyed playing shows together, and some time soon, we're going to work on some tunes for my new record. He has this song "Body" that I really dig. Check him out at www.myspace.com/BillySimonsJr
Finally, I want to send a quick shout out to my boys in the Rat Pack from the 19th Engineer battalion over in Afghanistan. Hurry home, fellas.
Ya'll be good to each other.

Hey Guys,
I decided to drop ya'll a quick line to share some exciting news...in the last few days, I signed with Universal Republic. My decision to make the move from running everything on my own to partnering with a major label certainly wasn't an easy one. As I've mentioned to all of you over the past few months, the demos I'm putting together for the new record feel a lot bigger than the last album...sonically and from a "people will get this" standpoint. I've always wanted to share my music with the broadest possible audience, and at this point, I know that I need some serious help to get where I want to go. As far as my relationship with all of you is concerned, nothing is going to change. Working with a major label will grant me access to things I couldn't get to before, and I couldn't have picked a better group of people to work with. Republic is still run by the same two guys who started it on their dining room table more than a decade ago...they're brothers...even though it's a big company, it's still kind of like a family business, which I think is pretty cool.
Just wanted to keep ya'll in the loop. This project belongs to all of you just as much as it belongs to me, because without the grassroots movement that you started, the only people that would know about my music are my roommates. In the end, the only thing that matters is my relationship with each of you, and I want ya'll to know that for me, that's always going to be the case. You carried me this far on your backs, and the only way I'm going to get to the next step is if ya'll continue to stand with me. I hope that my music continues to be a part of your lives. Thank you.
I just posted the version of "Home" from 'Goodbye, Goodnight' on myspace. Check it out. Also, please follow me on Twitter...www.Twitter.com/RonPopeMusic
Ya'll be good to each other.

Hey Guys,
I have some very exciting news...thanks to the tireless efforts of Zach Berkman in recent weeks, I now have TWO more albums up on iTunes. We've reissued my 2005 acoustic Ep, "Hello Love" and we've also launched another album of demos called "Goodbye, Goodnight." On "Goodbye, Goodnight" there are BRAND NEW versions of some songs you know, like I'm Yours, White Lies, Beautiful and Lost, Home, and Keep Me Warm, plus a few tunes that are hot off the presses (and haven't been heard before by anyone...except Grandma, who gets to cast a vote on any song that might get released...because she's Grandma...ha).
Here are the links...please visit iTunes and pick up both of these records. I appreciate it!!! (If the links don't work, it's because I'm a spaz...you can just visit iTunes and type in my name and they'll pop up...sorry in advance.)

Current mood: full
Hey Guys, My guys Shawn and Kevin over at Digital Karma Media have finished building me a brand new website and we're all set to launch. Check in at www.RonPopeMusic.com this coming Monday, April 20th. You'll be able to watch videos, download cool free stuff, find out what's going on in my world, listen to my music, contact other fans, and also, pick up my music. I've got two shows coming up that I want to remind you about...this Saturday, April 18th at 9 pm we're playing an acoustic show in Connecticut at UConn Storrs in the Student Union Lobby. It's a free show, open to everyone, students and non-students of all ages. Then, on Friday, April 24th at 9:30 pm, we're playing in New York at Sullivan Hall (on Sullivan St. between Bleecker and w. 3rd). 18+, $10. That should be our last show for a while, so come on out. We'll be previewing a few brand new songs at this one... This week, we wrote and recorded a brand new song called "Nothing Left To Lose." Here are the lyrics...
Nothing Left To Lose Words by Zach Berkman and Ron Pope Music by Zach Berkman, Paul Hammer, and Ron Pope
On a highway to nowhere, Big city lights, In my rearview mirror, Adjust my eyes. As the sun goes down, I speak and I forget.
The sound of the dark, Listen to the rain, And the radio's off, But no one complains. I drive all by myself, And wait for the day.
Some may leave and some may lie. Some they kneel, and some they fly. Some they lead, and some they fall behind.
With nothing left to lose.
The things you forgive, And learn to forget, In the pitch black dark, Recall what it meant, To believe in things, You can't feel with your hands.
If there's fire on the ground, Or floods on the streets, And you're all out of words, For the things you believe, As the daylight fades, Just turn your eyes towards me.
Some may leave and some may lie. Some they kneel, and some they fly. Some they lead, and some they fall behind.
With nothing left to lose, Nothing left to lose.
Don't make me wait, make me wait, make me wait without you. Don't make me wait, make me wait, make me wait without you.
With nothing left to lose, Nothing left to lose.
Don't make me wait, make me wait, make me wait without you. Don't make me wait, make me wait, make me wait without you.
If you happen to find yourself on iTunes this week, check out my buddy Trey Lockerbie's brand new record "The Hummingbird Ep." I really dig the song "Hummingbird." Trey is also playing at Sullivan Hall next Friday. Come early and check him out, too!
I hope to see all of you very soon. Ya'll be good to each other. Rp
