The Return Of The Brooklyn Record Riot this Sunday at Warsaw!!!

With major labels now re-releasing vinyl albums by The Beatles and
Jimi Hendrix, records continue to be in the news. The debut of the
Brooklyn Record Riot!!! in late June was a smashing success, and now
it returns this Sunday, September 28th, again bringing together over
40 hand-picked, vinyl dealers from up and down the east coast. Scads
of music customers from the five boros and beyond feasted on great
records and delicious Polish food courtesy of Warsaw. "We couldn't
have asked for a better debut." says show promoter Steve Gritzan.
"Dealers and customers had a ball and wanted immediate info on the
next show." adds co-promoter John Bastone. "We are also pleased that
we will have ten dealers who were NOT at the first show." Ten DJs,
including Phast Phreddie, will provide the sounds, dealers will dish
out cheap (and expensive) LPs and 45s of all stripes, the mood should
be festive. BRR sponsors three shows a year and Warsaw will again
provide food and Polish beer. Portable turntables are encouraged for
the fanatical. Leave all i-pods at the door.

Sunday September 28th, Warsaw, 261 Driggs Ave, Brooklyn, 11am-8pm,
$3.00 regular admission, $20.00 early admission (9-11am)  More info:

Hey kids, think of this as a giant spaceship full of records landing in Greenpoint! The Brooklyn Record Riot!!! (BRR) debuts in June at historic Warsaw, home of great rock shows (Patti Smith, The Misfits, New Pornographers) along with luscious kielbasa and cold beer. While Brooklyn has certainly been host to a number of good record shows in the past, the area has certainly been in need of a regular, larger scale record and CD fair to compliment the WFMU fall fair and other smaller events. BRR plans on hosting two or three events a year and will appeal to all stratas of record and CD consumers both in price and genre. We are in the process of building a strong portfolio of dealers from New York and beyond, including those who traffic in 45s, posters, t-shirts and the like. Due to the high rents of the area and other business factors, record stores have opened and closed in Brooklyn throughout the past ten years. We sell at street fairs all year long and the first question that people often ask us is "Where is your store?" Well, we are going to provide the residents of Brooklyn with a big, one day store in the form of the Brooklyn Record Riot, held at the Polish National home of Greenpoint, commonly known to locals as WARSAW. This beautiful, spacious ballroom from the early 20th century was the original gathering place of Brooklyn's Polish population (and continues to be). Thousands of Polish immigrants used "261 Driggs Avenue Brooklyn" as their first known address in America. The facility is air-conditioned and has the capacity for over 1000 people. There will be traditional Polish food and a full bar. BRR will be supplying four DJs on stage spinning four distinct types of music. The hours are a bit unusual for record shows (11am-8pm), so there's plenty of time to get over that hangover or just sleep late and then scamper on by. Who knows what will be going on in late June or what the weather will be like. But plan ..ping in and shopping your heart out. Feel free to contact us for more information, either through this site or irisrecs.com. Portable turntables are welcome. Bring your friends and family. Spread the word of vinyl and the idea of touching things before buying them. See you there. . .
