JUST WANTED TO THANK EVERYBODY THAT CAME OUT FOR THE DISCOBAMA PARTY....GREAT NIGHT.

LAST MINUTE INAUGURATION PARTY

DISCOBAMA

NO COVER - NO DRESS CODE - NO HOLLYWOOD BS

sorry for the last minute notice, but better late than never.

to celebrate FINALLY GETTING OUR COUNTRY BACK
we're throwing a little inauguration bash.  there's no cover (it's free
all night), and we've worked out a deal with the club owners...instead
of taking a cut of the bar, we just asked them to chip in for the
decorations.  this party is all for the love. no flyers, posters, or
street promoting of any kind...all word of mouth.   it's gonna be a
dark, intimate get-together of real heads...rare house & disco, and
dance classics.

we
also worked out a little special treat...we'll have some nice surprises
to give away from the most important artist of this election, Shepard Fairey.  just about everyone will get
something to take home...for real.

the vibe should be insane...assuming the word gets out of course : )
any help spreading it will be greatly appreciated.

SCOTT K. & DJ KERRY
and possibly some surprise guests

@ The Vine Bar
1235 Vine Street
(there's no sign but the club is a half block South of Fountain)
Los Angeles, CA 90038

doors open at 8pm, so you can watch the inauguration live...and right after, we really celebrate.  : )

INSTEAD OF A GENERAL RELEASE, THIS WILL BE ONE FOR THE TRUE HEADS. It will be released on BOXMUSIC and should be available in January 2009.

This run will be an exclusive limited run of 500 copies (worldwide) on WHITE VINYL and will feature a 2nd remix, and 2 DJ Tools never previously released to anyone (including the big guys you've been hearing rocking the main mix - Roy Davis Jr., King Britt, Diz, Stacy Kidd, Kerri Chandler, etc.)

Due to the high cost of producing a very small run of 500 copies Worldwide (and on specially colored vinyl), this release will not be cheap...but that just makes it much more of an exclusive for the true heads. if you're interested in being placed on the waiting list, hit me asap.

and speaking of limited pressings, downtown304.com found a lost box with 100 copies of Scott k. vs The O'Jays "I Love Music"...better hurry if you didn't get it cause that's all that's left.

love & music,

Scott K.

i don't take this too seriously....obviously there are thousands of bedroom DJ's more talented than anyone on this list... nevertheless, i'm honored to be put on such a highly respected and consulted list. sharing music is my passion, so hopefully this will translate into more gigs, and more opportunities to explore this planet. thank you to everyone that's supported me over the years.

DJ Mag's "TOP 100" collectors edition issue is already out in the UK and Europe, and should hit the US and the rest of the world soon.

i'm very pleased to announce that 2 new remixes i'm involed in are available through Liberate Records. they will be made available as limited digital promos on Traxsource.com.

these joints are exclusives to Traxsource, and limited....get them while you can
(right now, the only DJ's in the world that have these tracks are: Marques Wyatt, Louie Vega, Kenny Dope, Roy Davis Jr., Timmy Regisford, JT Donaldson, Frankie Knuckles - Jask - King Britt - Terry Hunter - Jay J - Danny Krivit - Rich Medina - Vikter Duplaix - Jojo Flores - Mark Grant - Stacy Kidd - Miguel Migs - Julius Papp - & Diz)

some basic info:

EMAN "Urban Renewal" (Scott K. & AMA's Live-Soul Mix)
a socially conscious vocal by House music legend Eman. a remix by Scott K. & AMA featuring uplifting background vocals, live drums, horns, keys, and more. guaranteed to inspire and move your floor.

EMAN "Respect The Music" (Scott K. & Cole Medina's Minimal Acid Dub)
a classic Eman record known for it's soulfulness gets stripped down and beaten into pure raw underground. the track starts out on a dubby, minimal-house tip, but after Eman gives his classic "Respect The Music" speech, it transforms into something rarely heard: minimal-acid. This one's made for the DJ's.....extra deep bass, twisting acid lines...it's perfect for laying under another record or accapella. drop this one in a warehouse or a club with a serious sound system and watch the the true heads lose it.

If you missed getting a copy of the Vinyl-only release of Scott K. vs. The O'Jays "I Love Music" on BOXMUSIC, you're in luck.

I'm doing a very limited re-run of them.  If you live in a major city you may be able to find a couple of copies in your local record store.  Or check out OPUSRECORDS.COM - they will definitely be getting a good amount.

don't sleep....this record packs ALL floors..for real.  it's been worked in house clubs by all the big DJ's, and even in hip-hop clubs by cats like Jazzy Jeff and Afrika Bambaataa.  Trust, it works.

SCOTT K.

vs.

THE O'JAYS

"I LOVE MUSIC"

Scott K.'s "True To The Old School" Classic Mix b/w The S2 (Slick Dada & Scott K.) Big-Room Dub

JULIUS PAPP: "Got Your O'Jays track...it's slammin'!...played it and people love it!...you know I mentioned that I have an edit of it myself, but your mix takes it to the next level with you incorporating E-Man...big thanks for the hookup!...can't wait to hear the Souvenirs track!"

MARQUES WYATT: "You should've seen the heads twisting to this in Detroit! The O'Jays might as well have been on stage."    "I Love Music is flooring them in Canada."  "I'm in London. Timmy Regisford is rocking your O'Jays remix right now."

ROY DAVIS JR.: "Meet me tonight. I need another copy of the O'Jays record. People keep jacking it. The track is killin' em. We gotta find a way to get this on my mix CD for Large."

MIGUEL MIGS: "Nice Work! I like it alot and I've been playing it out."

DOC MARTIN: "I love it. Send me a secong copy so I can mix between the two mixes."

STACY KIDD: "Just had to send you some love on those CD's you sent me, that shit is nice!!!! That I Love Music was really hot."  STACY KIDD to HALO @ WMC: "Have you heard this yet? It's crazy, you gotta play this shit now.  Take my copy." [Halo dropped it on the spot and the 1000+ dancers went crazy]

GENE FARRIS (@WMC): "I played it three times today. And they're loving it in Europe so you know that shit is hot."

NEIL ALINE (CEO CHEZ REC.): "Hey man, been playing the hell out of your edit/mix of the O'Jays! And they're going crazy over it in Japan. Cheers!"

BPM MAGAZINE (David Ireland, Publisher): "It's dope."

URB MAGAZINE: "This platter's cocky lead-in [referring to Chris Rock interlude] is just the opener to a spread of tasty treats, all with drums so warm and live it's easy to forget you're listening to something electronic." (pull quote sent by mag - look for full review in May or June issue of URB)

WMC 2006 Miami, FL: We heard the track dropped at some of WMC's biggest House events, including events thrown by Large Records, OM Records, Timmy Regisford, and Ben Watt...we caught it being played by Roy Davis Jr., Julius Papp, Neil Aline, Lego, Halo, Gene Farris, Stacy Kidd, Lady D., DJ Heather, Andy Caldwell, Jask, Donald Glaude, Marques Wyatt, and few others.  One of the conference highlights was watching the lights come up at the OM Records party featuring Marques Wyatt, Kaskade, and Mark Farina, and seeing 2000+ dancers (with all the lights on) finsishing off the night to I Love Music....and really loving it....i'm so glad we had a video camera to capture it.  We can only speculate how many other DJ's dropped it at the hundreds of other WMC parties we didn't have time to attend.

****ESG live in Japan (07/06) performing the 80's underground hit Moody****

Sometimes less is more...and that's definitely the case with ESG. These are some of the original ladies from the 80's still performing...and the few that couldn't have been replaced by their daughters...all in the family....dope.

F*ck the bling....what would be more fun than throwing back a couple of shots and going to see this show? Not much.

I better see some comments from the old-school house heads. : )

Thursday, November 02, 2006

for my tahiti gigs i wanted to pull out a few joints with french vocals (everyone speaks french there).....i dug deep in the crates and pulled out an old Chicago classic, Alexander Robotnick's "Problemes D'Amor" - tried to find a video of it but couldn't. luckily I found something better....a short interview with AR and a live performance of him DJ'ing earlier this year. when he started out with Kraftwerk's Trans Europe Express i knew it was gonna be good....and 2 minutes and 40 seconds into it, he grabs a mic and starts singing Problemes D' Amor....very inspiring to see him still doing his thing, and having people still enjoy it.
