Current mood:  sad

Thanks to all of the people that liked The Dad of Rock. We have all come to a mutual understanding and are taking a permanent hiatus from TDOR. We've had some really amazing times, but we need to re-focus our energy and priorities to other matters.

This page will live on and have links and updates of any new projects that may arise from the ashes of The Dad.

Your pal,

Ken

Sorry The Dad has been absent of late. He just keeps fussing over the lawn, so he never has time for computer.

The Dad has only played 2 shows this year, one at Bela Dubby with Chuck Mosely and another at the Winchester with Question Mark and the Mysterians.

Once Dad get's all of his vacation with his family of rock, he'll have plenty of shows.

On another note... Since late February, we've had a new member, Runi on Keyboards. She's a fine addition to The Dad and will help The Dad "Set the Night on Fire... With Rock & Roll!".

The Dad has noted that he should not be too carefree with Night Fire, or else all of the Night will be burned away and the world will be in perpetual daylight.

Well, here we are... It's February 18th and The Dad of Rock has completed the RPM Challenge. The RPM Challenge is to record and album of a minimum of 10 songs and/or 35 minutes of music within the 28 days of February.

The Dad of Rock has 12 songs so far: 4 of which are posted here, and 4 more can be heard at the Paternity Records myspace.

The Dad may have more material this week, but if not, they'll send off what they have to be in the international "Record Release Party" on Friday March 30th, 2007. The album will be archived on rpmchallenge.com as well. So if you can join in, please do so!

Now go have some fun... Just not too much fun.

Hello Kids,
As man of you may know, The Dad of Rock has nearly completed their debut album, "It's the Man... It's the Manner... It's... The Dad of Rock". It will soon be in the hands of our pal, Charlie (The Republican Party, Turn-up Records etc.), to be mastered. Charlie has used his skills of mastery for Kill the Hippies. We're looking forward to throwing him a pizza party.

Even though The Dad of Rock has their first album under their collective belt, they've decided to record an all new one!

You may be saying, "What the H-E-Double-Hockey-Sticks?!?!" or "Who cares?"... Fret not! The answer to your quandry but is about to be revealed!!!

The Dad of Rock is participating in the 2007 RPM Challenge! February is Record Production month and the fine people at rpmchallenge.com have set a task to musicians the world 'round: Record an album within the 28 days of February!

Can they do it you ask?

The official report is in: YES they CAN!

Already completely recorded are "Living... 21st Century Style", "16-33-45-78"  and "Open Sesame". In addition, there are 3 more songs in the works with an expected completion date of... Tonight.

The RPM Challenge dictates that the album should be at least 35 minutes long or consist of a minimum 10 songs. TDOR anticipates 10-12 songs with a run time of around 45 minutes.

Quality is not an issue in the RPM Challenge. They encourage people to use whatever equipment they have at their disposal. TDOR is using the Paternity Records Lodge and Gerald is engineering, using the Digital Fostex MR-8.

So far, The Dad of Rock is possibly the only NE Ohio bands participating in the RPM Challenge. The band would like to encourage others in the area to do the same!!! Come on!!!

Keep your eyeballs peeled for more updates... In the meantime, be sure to check out some of the new songs for the RPM sessions at the Paternity Records myspace!

Huzzah! Huzzah!

Now is your chance to get inside the heads of the monster trio known as The Dad of Rock! We..ve uploaded 4 of the most current versions from our forthcoming album, It's the Man.. It's the Manner.. It's... The Dad of Rock! The songs are still raw and not completely mixed, but this will allow you, the listener, full access to the growing process of making a DIY album!
Well not full access. If we know you well enough, you..ve had far more access than you..d ever want.

In addition to the music, we..ve posted the lyrics for the first 3 songs.

And if that isn..t enough.. We..ve added new images for each tune from detail shots of some on Ken's paintings!

Here..s the poop..

1. "Above Below"
All new recording! The only thing missing from this song is bass guitar and a few backing vocals. Morte Treehorne (Kill the Hippies), Stephan (The Rockabillies) as well as the Dad's drum king, Greg, add their baking croons to the mix.

2. "Rocket Attack"
This is the near complete album version of "Rocket Attack". It's the same one that was up last week, with more backing vocals (Morte, Stephan, The Suz, Greg, Ken). There are more backing vocals on the way too.

3. "Fair Play"
Another all new track! This one is also nearly done. A few more backing vocals will ensue. Greg and Ken provided the current backing vocals. Rod will be adding his voice to the mix on this one too. The solo is new as well.

4. "Dracula's Magic Ring of Power"  Sneak Preview!
We almost didn't put this one up, but we're so happy with its beginnings, we wanted to share! Only guitars and drums are present on this song. The vocal patterns and lyrics are still in the shop, but are just about ready to bust loose! In the night!

Let us know what you think of all this and we'll buy you ice cream sometime. If not, just act like we did.

Your pals,
The Dad of Rock

Greetings from the Lodge UP!

Gerald and the boys have been diligently and meticulously finalizing several tracks for the new album and writing a few in the process! The Lodge is a cornucopia of Rock goodness!!!

There are currently unfinished versions of "Rocket Attack" and "Dummy" on the myspace page from the current recording sessions.

Captain Marvel Jr., Ken's new stratocaster will be appearing on the latest round of guitar tracks. If you'd like to see what the young captain looks like, be sure to look at our pictures!!! He's a fine lad!

Morte Treehorne of Kill the Hippies will be joining in on a backing vocal session and possibly a guitar solo! Hot-Diggity! Now let's see if we can get Misty on board...

Other special guest will be announced shortly...

Speaking of which, if any of my close pals read this and want to contribute some backing vocals to a couple of our anthems... get in touch!!!

The Dad of Rock has uploaded "Terror Rainbow" and "Can't Stand (The Night)" for your listening pleasure.

Get ready for new songs and improved old songs! We're getting down to nitty- gritty with our album. Realistically, it should be done by mid-spring.

We've also uploaded some art by Ken, including the pencil drafts for the CD cover. Eventually all of our images will be original art with maybe a couple exceptions.
