Just a quick note to keep everybody updated. Take What You Can is up to 29 in the IAC Big 50 Chart. I also added a few old demos to iacmusic.com which seem to be going down quite well. Bruised and Broken has been added to the front page hitline. I have added 3 songs in total, all of which are pretty old and pretty shabby recordings but if you fancy a listen you can do so at my profile page at iacmusic.com or you can download them at the download pages of benelliot.com

Until next time.......

..

Earlier this year I was privialedged enough to feature on the "Independent Sounds of Yorkshire and the Humberside CD" for 2008. The CD was distributed at the annual MIDEM festival. MIDEM brings together thousands of musicians and industry types in Canne each year. It is a great opportunity for exposure as demostrated by past Independent Sounds artist Corrine Bailey Rae and The Arctic Monkeys.

Huddersfield's award winning Social Enterprise Timeless Music Project" has just returned from France where it has launched the breakthrough new music development initiative "INDEPENDENT SOUNDS OF YORKSHIRE AND THE HUMBER 2008"

Every year the international music industry flocks to the MIDEM Music Conference in Cannes.

For over 40 years MIDEM has provided delegates with unique networking and business opportunities and there has always been a very large British Music Industry presence at Europe's largest Music Conference.

This year Timeless Music Project (Examiner Community Awards Winner 2005) sourced 17 up and coming acts from the Yorkshire and the Humber region and promoted them to top industry movers and shakers.

With the area's profile perhaps more under the spotlight now than ever before, largely due to the regional success stories of major label acts like Corrine Bailey Rae, Kaiser Chiefs and Arctic Monkeys, the 17 track Showcase CD is designed to draw attention to the region's diverse and thriving independent music sector.

TMP grew out of Huddersfield's successful local 3 stage community music event "Timeless Festival" and has been profiling local music for over five years. This latest project follows on from other promotions at the SXSW Conference in Texas in 2006 and 2007 where the Social Enterprise showcased Bradford unsigned talent and West Yorkshire based Independent records labels to great success.

This year the featured artists and beneficiaries are Rosie Taylor Project, Asaviour & DJ IQ, Rosie Doonan, Vib Gyor, Supadark, Skint And Demoralised, Ultramegasupadeadly, Andreya Triana & Martyn Strange, The Colonel, The Haggis Horns, Mr Beasley, Darlings Of The Splitscreen, The Huskies, Far From The Dance, Lyn Acton (with Pearls Cab Ride), BEN ELLIOT and The Landaus.

The various musical styles are well represented from rock to pop, from drum n bass to country through to indie, acoustic and dance genres, picked from all corners of the region.

INDEPENDENT SOUNDS OF YORKSHIRE AND THE HUMBER is supported by the Arts Council and Government agency UK Trade and Investment.

You may have noticed a new addition to my myspace profile, in the form of the video to Old Tales For The Fresh Mind. Although this video has been viewable here on myspace and at You Tube, it has never been veiwable in stereo (and never properly in sync). So please visit my page and feast your eyes on the extravaganza of a video for Old Tales.

Ben

Ps, Thanks to Charlotte Buchan for producing the video.

I have posted an updated version of Take What You Can, Give What Your Are, you can hear this, and the old version on the music pages, here at benelliot.com. I have jazzed it up at the end and made some improvements, so please have a listen.

I think it is a much better version and it seems iacmusic.com agrees, as they have added it to their front page KIAC Hitline radio station. Visit iacmusic.com to find out more and listen to the KIAC Hitline, 'Take What You Can', will feature there for the next few days.

After such a good response at iacmusic.com I have decided to replace the original version ofTake What You Can, Give What You Are, with the new and evidently improved version. Please have a listen and let me know what you think.

Ben

More about this version below.........

Dear All,

Be sure to check out the new version of Take What You Can, Give What You Are at the music pages of benelliot.com. It is bigger, longer and more exciting than before. It is still run by the piano driven riff, but now has the trademark jazzy swing middle section that was evidently lacking. A rock song without guitars???? They said it couldnt be done.... I beg to differ.
