RYEDALE LIVE! COMPILATION CD

Hello good people
I just wanted to tell you about the Ryedale Live CD now available to buy... it would make a lovely Christmas present.
The CD is a compilation of many acoustic artists including myself, Edwina Hayes and the wonderful Alastair James. All proceeds go to RYEDALE SPECIAL FAMILIES charity which supports over 350 families of children and young people with disabilities and special needs throughout the Ryedale area in Yorkshire.
The CD has been put together by Rob Davies who has been making great things happen in the North Yorkshire
area including setting up Ryedale Live which puts on beautiful concerts in village halls bringing musicians from out of town and also involving local musicians.
It's a double CD featuring a collection of 34 tracks...
if you would like to order the Ryedale Live CD it costs £8.99 including postage and packing....
please email mail@ryedalelive.co.uk or telephone: 01653 690503.

that's all for now folks

Hello friends

Sorry for being so rubbish at blogging these days.... good news is that the song i wrote and recorded for 1 Giant Leap a few years ago has finally made it onto their new album called What About Me?
Alongside artists such as Michael Stipe, Alanis Morrisette and KD Lang the song I wrote is called Forgive Me. Presently the CD is only physically released in Australia. You can listen to samples and order it following this link, unfortunately Amazon have not listed my name next to the song... i don't know why, but if you listen to the sample you will recognize my voice.

Check out the What About Me DVD/film too it's very inspiring!

Also i am featured on 2 tracks from The Climbers debut CD to be released in the new year.
They are an incredible new band and i am really excited to be part of this project.
Below is a link to a free download of a duet i recorded with them called "uncommon".
it's so good! check it out!!!

As for other news, I am currently recording a new album called Roses At The Top
much love to all you myspacers

Hello Friends
Just to let you know that tomorrow night ( Wed 16th ) I will be performing in London at the classy Soho Revue Bar, which I believe used to be a strip joint!
Its a fiver to get in and the venue is situated where Berwick St meets Brewer St.
Show starts at 8.30pm
Also performing and hosting the night is the amazing Jont www.myspace.com/jontmusic who has just released a beautiful album and has spent the last year or so travelling around America and the UK putting on concerts in myspacers houses and filming them. The evenings are called Unlit and involve Jont playing a short set and a couple of local artists playing too, the evening is then followed by a big party.
Below is the film of the Brighton Unlit which I showed up to and seemed to have ended up on! check out the other films too, there is a whole series of them and they are very inspiring indeed.
Hope some of you can make the Soho show

Hello folks
I hope you are all well and surviving the winter. Listed below are the UK tour dates for US songqueen Rose Polenzani and I, beginning this Saturday 26th Jan in bonnie Scotland and finishing in Brighton on Sunday 10th Feb.
Making our way back down south via Tynemouth, Yorkshire, Manchester, Malvern, Birmingham, Cambridge, Oxford, London and Canterbury.
This will be Rose's second tour of the UK and I seriously recommend you catch her while you can before she fly's off back to her native Boston...Rose and I will also be presenting our album we have made together called Kings and Queens, a hand made limited edition CD featuring both our songs performed together made especially for the tour. For those of you who can't make any of the gigs there is a mini version of the album available as digital download from www.cdbaby.com
Some of the concerts we are playing are house concerts and it is advisable to reserve seats for these shows as they are limited seating and sell out very quickly, reply to me here for reservations or you can contact me from my web site www.sharonlewis.net
We still have a few dates free up north 29th to 31st Jan if anyone wants to host a house gig or book us to play at your local village hall/venue and we have Sat 9th Feb free down south...do get intouch.
I'm very happy to announce that Rose and I will be returning to Malvern to play at Julia and Phil's house, this will be a special night as it is imbolk, a pagan festival calling out to the spring. If anyone has not been to Malvern, venture out, it's one of the most scenic places in England. A walk up the Malverns is truly stunning!!
Lastly I'd like to thank every one in Kirkbymoorside for the warm welcome when I played there at the beginning of the year, I hope some of you can make it to the house concert in York.
Gig dates listed below,
See you soon

Hello friends
Happy New Year to you all!
Last night I spent many hours collecting together and uploading photo's from my musical adventures in 2007. It's my way of honouring 2007 remembering all the wonderful people, places and experiences. The gift of music is that you can travel with it, you can take it anywhere and it can feed you on the road.....'music as shoes' as my friend Barnaby would say.
Anyway in 2007 those musical shoes have taken me to America, Czech Republic and paris. I have made different photo albums for each tour, check the pics to see them.

RAMBLE MY ROSE TOUR APRIL/JULY 2007
This was a selection of concerts that myself and my friend Katy Carr played together, mainly in the UK and some in the Czech Republic. We played a lot of house concerts and made many new friends on this tour, including Lou and Phill in Scarborough who organised a beautiful concert for us and introduced us to their musical community. Thanks to all the scarborough crew and the Shmuck family for hosting the concert. Thanks also to Lucy, Dan and Amy for the parlour concert in Hebden Bridge, Natasha and Stephano, Julia and family in Malvern, The Full Moon Club in Haye on Wye, Phil and Helen, Alex and Jenny. Tony and Nicky in York.
Some memorable moments include singing 1940's songs to the old folks in Scarborough, playing for our supper and lodgings in a random pub after getting stranded north of Oxford due to torrential floods that had overtaken the country. Sipping tea and eating cucumber sandwiches with The Mcdowells ( Scottish aristocrat family ) at their home in Dumfries. Hijacking the grand piano in Cafe Slavia, Prague and annoying the waitresses by asking for free drinks and absynthe.

KINGS AND QUEENS US TOUR JUNE 07
This was a month tour of the States with Rose Polenzani, we drove from Boston to Chicago playing in New York, North Carolina, Nashville, Louisville, Washington DC, Decatur GA, Madison WI and many other places....
Thanks to Jeff for the house concert in Boston, Sandy and Heather for the Garden concert in Decatur, Natalie and Cindy for concerts in DC and Pittsburgh PA. Ant and DW Box in Louisville KY.
Again another incredible tour and lots of new friendships and experiences.
Fun times, singing karaoke in Nashville, meeting the 17 year cicadas in Chicago, playing ukelele and writing songs with Rose, dancing salsa in New York, making music video's with Rose, singing with session americana.

BUSKING IN PARIS AUGUST 07
A week busking in Paris.... I had not been busking since I was 16 so when my friend and musical collaborator Nick Barrell invited me busking with him I was intrigued. Loading up the car with our guitars and little busking amps, we took the ferry from Newhaven ( only 20 mins from Brighton ) arriving in Dieppe and drove to Paris.
We stayed with my friend Salome in The Marais, which is the trendy and rather expensive part of Paris. Spent our days playing by the river and outside cafes, and the evenings with Salome meeting her friends and watching lots of Little Britain. We didn't get rich busking in Paris but made enough to eat and drink for the week, which can cost quite a lot in the Marais.

Hello folks
My friend Anjulie posted me some lyrics tonight, taken from a song she wrote with her husband Brendan. They are both incredibly gifted musicians and writers and this particular song called Places is really special.
I have been stumbling around in the dark for a while now trying to find words to express how I have been feeling lately but they aint coming out.
I heard Places for the first time about a month ago and really felt the song was speaking my soul ( a sign of a great song ) and got to hear it again at Brendan and Anjulies wedding a couple of weeks ago.
Tonight I have been working out the chords and singing through it....
" you don't know my heart, you don't know my soul, all my joys and my sorrows, places I call home "
and Anjulie has given me her blessings to take the song on the road with Rose and I for our winter tour.
During other tours with Rose we sang a song by her friend Josh Cole from Boston.
Check out Crack*a*jack crow and The Great Indoors in my top friends to hear Brendan and Anjulies music....

Hello again my cyber friends
I am delighted to announce that the lovely Rose Polenzani and I are set to make a UK tour together Jan/Feb 08. As you know Rose is based in Boston US and myself Brighton UK so it's very rare that we get to play together, so it's gonna be a special tour, in fact extra special as we have made an album together called Kings and Queens. This will be available to buy on our tour.
By the way we still have some dates to fill in...
If anyone wants to book us for a house concert or to play at their local venue, village hall, pub, church, fetish club ( only joking ;- ) do get in touch.
Also just to remind you that I will be on Radio Reverb on Mon 6pm British time, tune in online www.radioreverb.com or 97.2 FM, the DJ Pete Jones will be reading out emails so drop a line if you like to studio@radioreverb.com
Blessings to y'all

Hello friends
how are you? I'm just listening to our local Brighton radio station Radio Reverb 97.2 fm and how marvelous it is!! just heard all my friends bands being played, The Great Indoors, The Shoreline, Sons Of Noel And Adrien.... how wonderful me thinks!
I like the station because it is a community radio show and quite unprofessional ( in a nice way ) which really adds to the charm, local people host the shows which makes it more interesting.
I will be a Reverb featured guest on the Pete Jones show December 10th from 6pm British time performing live and chatting, I also get to spin some tunes that I dig which is very exciting! if you don't live in Brighton you can get the station on the world wide web....so tune in!
You may have noticed that I have some new pics up thanks to my Parisian friend Salome who came to stay over the weekend accompanied by her beloved polaroid camera.... a very cool chunky machine with 4 lenses. Her friend Babette who is also a photographer stayed too so we had a lot of fun taking pictures.
I've just finished reading Crime And Punishment by Dostoyevsky which is a brilliant brilliant book,.....I was recommended the book by my Czech friend and had it sitting on my shelf for at least a year before I got the motivation to actually read it.
It's quite a dark, heavy read and intensely harrowing at times. But for all the suffering that endures the narrative has a suprising and beautiful redemption at the end which is all the more powerful.
I want to read more by him thats for sure!
Next up is Wuthering Heights, which I bought at The Bronte museum recently whilst on tour....
that's all for now folks
stay gold
