Current mood: rockin
The Detectives are no back to being a fourpiece: Sax, Drums and Rock 'n' Roll! Line up is now: Rob - Guitar, Bass + Vocals Lynn - Tenor and Alto sax, Flute, Clarinet, Piano and Vocals Phil - Guitar, Bass + Vocals Martyn - Drums. Piano and Vocals.
We have not changed the pictures yet, we are currently rehearsing and will soon have enough tunes ready to re-start gigging. Hope to get some pics in action after that. Some of the 'old songs' are still in the set list, but also plenty of new ones too.

After Dave retired from the band, we fortunately managed to find Phil who is a versatile enough player on bass, guitar and vocals to keep us going and rejuvenate the band. We aim to resume gigging in September with some of the old songs and some new songs too.

Current mood: lonely
Sadly Dave has had to leave the band ,as with extra family committments in the form of an extra pair of pitter-patterring tiny feet at home, the gigging schedule, especially the prospect of doing some gigs outside Lancaster got to be too much. A shame as its been a lot of fun. This means the band is looking for someone who (ideally) can play bass, guitar and hold down a singing line under a harmony line. Anyone interested out there who is into playing covers (see our set list on this myspace site for the sort of stuff we do) and aiming to gig approx once a week get in touch 07754426622 Rob

Current mood: hungry
Played at Vine and Hops in a bit of a pared down format. Greg's cajun with mic (not drum kit), Luciano on Congas and tambourine and no piano (John couldn't make it). All songs bar one worked well and the sound output was much clearer - probably because vocals and instruments were not competing with drums and drums were not getting into the mics. May be playing there again on sometime but not on Sat 16th May as we have a firm booking now for the Royal Hotel carnforth on that date. V/H was fun and a reasonably sized crowd - partly courtesy of Luciano's contacts. THANKS AS ALWAYS TO LUCIANO FOR LETTING US PLAY IN HIS BAND. G+D+R Called in at Kenlis Arms singers' night (open mic) very very busy - 28 acts! long wait to get on then only time for 2 songs! But a very well run night - warm up area, good skills from the sound desk. Later on same eve managed to get back to squeeze 2 more songs in at Stonewell Tavern open mic too.

Current mood: impatient
We are having another break from gigging at the moment, as we keenly await the imminent addition to a certain band member's family. Didn't wnat to book gigs and then have to cancel. We are still practicing and turning up at the occasional open mic night as well. Some more newer numbers are creeping into our repertoire - including ones by Alphabeat and Amy Winehouse.
We are missing gigging and look forward to resuming in Dec.

'Lucky' Luciano has, unluckily? had to go back to Brazil for a bit, possibly for ever. (Sob)
We've not been gigging in Sept (apart from a few select open mic appearances) partly due to peoples' hols but have been working up several new numbers to add to our repertoire. Looking forward to testing them out very soon - next Thurs 2nd Oct at Stonewell.
We've recruited and we'll be playing with a keyboard player (John) at at least some of our Oct and Dec gigs. Should be fun.

Good session - tried several new tunes which may well appear in our set list soon -
Love The One You're With (Stephen Stills)
One Step Beyond (Madness)
The Passenger (Iggy Pop)
Life During Wartime (Talking Heads)
Geno (Dexy's Midnight Runners)
Hound Dog (Elvis)
Bad news is that our next gig on Tues at Gillow will have to be as a power trio as the two L's can't make it. Still, Greg gets to use his full drum kit there (If it will fit in?)

We were due to play at the Park, but we were double booked with a DJ and the best we could get there was an hour and a half - too short for all the graft of setting up the gear so we cancelled. On a whim we decided to try and rustle up an alternative venue as all 5 of us had cleared our diaries for the eve. Having see a live music sign reappearing at The Greaves we called in at The Last drop bar . . . The barman said we could play there that night. Sometimes you just get a bit lucky . . . . . . . lows followed by high.
Rapid unloading and assembly of gear followed (now rather behind schedule) then picked up Lynn from darkest Bay Horse, then sorted children's tea out, then back to the Greaves. Luciano brought half of Lancaster Uni down and we all had a great night.
