Good evening!  We trust you are enjoying your election night coverage.  We wish everybody could be happy on election night.  But, alas, somebody has to lose.
We had another great couple of shows for our Halloween weekend.  The El Rey Theater seemed to inspire The Greg Daigle Band to play an incredible set to warm us up for The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash.  It wasn't long before our humble dance floor was swingin'!  It was almost too much fun for a Thursday night.  Almost.  For Halloween, we learned that costumed shenanigans and law students mix almost as well as the drinks at the bar!
Looking ahead, we are, of course, very excited to have Tony Furtado returning to New Mexico for a solo acoustic performance this Thursday.  If you like great lyrics, tight guitar chops, catchy tunes, and just all-around great music, you'll love Tony Furtado.
This Friday, KUNM and The El Rey Theater together will honor the memory of Dave Denny with the largest gathering of local blues musicians and fans in the history of Albuquerque.  Your $10 donation will help his surviving family members.  It's going to be a lot of fun for a great cause, so don't miss it.
Then, if the largest assemblage of Albuquerque blues musicians in history is not enough to fill your weekend, we've also got one of the greatest bluegrass bands on the circuit today: Greensky Bluegrass!  If you liked Cadillac Sky, you'll love these guys!
We've been having lots of fun with great bluegrass bands and fans, and we've got lots of other music on the horizon, so check our website at http://www.elreytheater.com to see when your favorite acts will be hitting our stage.
Thank you all for your continued support!

Well, folks, we had another great weekend!  Thanks to everyone who joined us for Friday night bluegrass.  It was a great mix of folks, lots of dancing, and tons of fun!  By the time Cadillac Sky was done, we could hardly breathe from all the dancing and cheering.  If you liked that, we guarantee you'll like The Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash on Thursday night.  Start your Halloween weekend with a bang.  Their unique brand of outlaw western swing will please both the romancer and the rambler in you!
Saturday night was great, too.  Thanks to Django fest and all the great performers (too many to list)!
Thank you all for your continued support!

We hope you had a great weekend!  If you came to the new Monthly Music & Movie Festival this weekend, you know we had fun.  We had some great food from Bagel Joe's, watched movies with our friends, and saw some great performers!  Make sure you rest up at school or work this week, because this weekend is loaded with great music!  CADILLAC SKY will join us on Friday for a great low price (only $12!)  This is the last weekend of their U.S. tour.  In case you don't know, that's when bands play their best shows
THE 3RD ANNUAL NEW MEXICO DJANGO FEST is going on this weekend.  Join us Saturday night for swing dancing, jazz, and so much more!
Stay tuned to elreytheater.com for lots more this fall and winter as we continue to keep your feet tappin' with great music!
We know that the "economic crisis" is putting the squeeze on almost everyone.  It makes us appreciate your support even more!

Here's a big "Thank you" to everyone who joined us last night for "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" with The Ground Beneath, Winterlock, and Left Brain:
THANK YOU
We can't wait to do it again tonight!  We'll have "Festival Express" featuring TONS of classic performances by The Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, The Band, and more!  Immediately following the movie, stick around for some great jams by Liquid Gypsy (sure to get you shakin' on Shakedown Street with some more Grateful Dead tunes), The Hammocks, and the elusive Civitas!  Don't forget your appetite: great "munchee" food from Bagel Joe's will be available.

As always, thank you ALL for your continued support!
