HOT JAVA CAFE SHOW POLICY
Friday and Saturday Night Shows
Hot Java features Acoustic entertainment every Friday and Saturday night, with Open Mic on Sunday (see open mic policy)
Entertainment/shows are primarily for Hot Java regulars, those who play the open mics and support Hot Java Cafe, although at times we bring in other artists.
All shows run from 7-10pm on Fri and Sat nights. Hot Java Cafe is a non-paying venue. Most performers play for exposure, tips, and are able to sell their merchandise. Hot Java does not take a cut or percentage of sales, any revenues you are able to generate from your merchandise are yours.
We usually try to book three acts, to keep the audience entertained, after all, one hour of a particular person is plenty. We even promote doing half hour sets in rotation, that way everyone gets a shot at two time periods, and really keeps the audience from getting bored. But in event a lot of equipment, keyboards, and setups become difficult, three one hour sets are acceptable. It is expected that you will stay for all sets and attempt to keep your crowd/fans there for the other acts out of courtesy and respect for the other musicians!
The house provides the equipment (PA, Speakers, Mic stands, cables (2-mic cables, 2-inst cables, and 2-house mics) It is the responsibility of the artists sharing the night to set up prior to show time, and break down after, putting all the accessories away. The PA will remain out from Fri - Sun, hooked up to the speakers. All you have to do is plug in, set your sound, energize and go! Afterwards all accessories get put away, cords get rolled up, mics put away, and mic stands and stuff go to the back in the box provided. There are four cable wraps to be used for the mic and inst cables. You are welcome to bring your own mics if you like, or other specialized equipment, keeping in mind, this is an acoustic venue. Hand drums and bass are even welcome. All sound should go thru the PA in order to maintain control of the sound. This is an Acoustic Venue, it is not for bands! No drums or drum kits, amps, etc., other than hand percussion.
You are welcome to promote your show, advertise on MySpace or your own website, and put banners/posters in the window at Hot Java Cafe, two weeks in advance of your show (as not to clutter the window with too much information. Posters/banners can be up to 11 x 17 (pretty much std size for artists banners).
If you have any questions, feel free to email hotjavacafesd@yahoo.com and either Stacy or Richard will get back to you within 48 hours. Thank you.
