Current mood:  inspired
Hey everyone. It has been a crazy couple of weeks. The first thing that really sucks is that we have to reschedule our European tour. This is heartbreaking for us because we were looking forward to it. But we decided it was in everyones best interest to postpone it. Hopefully we will have some news on that soon.

Also, I have gotten a lot of question regarding our status with Victory. I am not completely sure what the deal is. Either way, there are some really great people who work there and I have a ton of respect for them. Whatever happens, I am proud to have been part of a family that has so many amazing bands.

We have a few things that are in the works. In the meantime, come visit us at www.trig.com/damnationad/invite. We did a cover of Hold Your Ground and it is available there. A couple of our closest friends run it. Show some support!

One last note. I have been very open with everyone about my mental health. I really appreciate all the positive reinforcement. As of Feb 1st I have health insurance and have been actively seeing doctors and trying to get my life in line.

Take care. We will see you soon.
With love,
mike dc

Tour is over. This sucks. I have never felt so intense or emotional playing our songs before. I don't know what it is. Maybe because my head feels so fucked up. I don't know.

I have decided to stay in western mass for a while. I am sick. not physically. mentally. so i am going to get therapy. i have come to the conclusion that i am deeply depressed. i can pretend all i want, but it wont go away on its own. i have been taking medication for years and it just prolongs the inevitable. Another day, week, month, year? Who knows how long i will last. Unless I get the help I need.
This is destroying me. I stopped caring. I feel nothing at all. I want to disappear. No matter how hard I try though, i cannot convince myself that no one will care. I make an impact. I am not as bad of a person as i make myself out to be. Sure, i fucked up. But what some people fail to realize is that i spent the past year wanting to die. I was obsessed.
While on the road I read a few books about depression and it gave me hope. People have had it a lot worse than i do. I don't believe it ever goes away, but there are ways to keep it at bay. I am not sure I can beat it. But I am not giving up. I have to much love in my heart for others. I swear one day I will love me again too. I know that is what you want.

This is part of a song from Blue October. It sums things up pretty well for me.

I've been talking to my aunts and uncles, mom and dad again.
I've been finding out that I have what this world calls friends.
I've tried to push them all away,
They push me back and wanna stay
And that's one good thing I have.

I'm gonna feel a peace in me,
I'm gonna feel at home.
I'm gonna make this cloud above me disappear, be gone.
I wanna feel a punch inside, my heart beat on the floor.
I don't wanna hurt no more.

Yeah it's just me.
It's just me
And i'll find a way to make it.
There's noone left to stop me.
Here i go, can we take it from the top?

So why so long?
So sad, I wanna be strong.
Don't try to take her from me.
I've already spent my life living half undone.

On a lighter note here are some pics from our tour.

Our night in albuqurque is almost over. On the way to the show we blew our trailer tire. It ended up working out well. We made it on time. Being out on the road is so amazing. I love the unholy. Even though I have been warned a million times about jd, I still love him. The guys in death before dishonor are amazing also. I did have my reservations because of stories I have heard. Many of them were true. But not about the band. They have a bad name because some of there fans can be over the top. The band itself has some of the nicest people you could meet.

My life has been so fucked up for the past couple of months. I love playing the new songs. What is behind them is still so fresh and the old songs have totally new meanings. It feels very good to scream like my life depends on it every night.

As always the best part of touring is seeing old friends. It is so refreshing to have people still support us after all these years. People we call friends and we love dearly. I am going to forget a couple of names I'm sure. But mark, dennis, carey, jim, and mckaig I want to thank you we would not be a band without you. We owe you all more than words can express. We love you.

Current mood:  exhausted
Hey everyone. I am terrible about answering the messages on here. Before I left for tour I did not have frequent internet access. Now we are on the road it is even less frequent. I am trying to keep up!
I am not ignoring anyone. Take care! Thanks for the support!

We played the 2nd show of our tour last night in West Virginia. After that we stayed with the promoter and he and his friends have been absolutely amazing.

Check out a radio show we did earlier this week. It was a lot of fun. You should get a few laughs. Ken is a better story teller than I am.

We shot a video for a new song called Knot. We had to rush it a little because we want it to come out on a dvd that will be sponsered by PETA 2.
This is the first time I had ever done a video, so it felt strange. Our friend Joseph directed it and he is amazing. So thanks to him and everyone who came out to help. Also, next time leave some pizza for me. Thanks!

Peter Young is an animal rights
activist who is currently serving a
federal term in a California prison
for releasing and conspiring to
release over 8,000 minks from
fur farms.
This CD started as an idea a few
of his friends had to help him
pay his legal costs, and it quickly
snowballed into a veritable who's
who of the underground music
scene.25 bands, and labels like
Victory, Fat Wreck Chords, Equal
Vision and Ferret Style, came
together and agreed to donate all
their proceeds from sales of this
compilation to support Peter.
Although the bands on this
compilation are all connected
to the animal rights movement
in one way or another, this disc
has broad appeal outside of the
laboratory raiding, protest going,
anti-fur and non-leather wearing
crowd.The music covers a wide
variety of styles, yet still manages
to work together well.Combined
with beautiful cover art, this disc
has something for everyone.

Hey guys. After MONTHS of waiting we finally have a release date and a label. Originally we wanted to work with friend dave at indecision. Since then though he has decided to not do the label full time. Because of that we have chosen to work with victory because they will be able to help us be out on the road as much as we want. We LOVE dave, but at the same time we are excited to be able to have full time backing behind us.

Below is the official press release:

Victory Records has officially announced the signing of Washington D.C.'s Damnation A.D. "This is our best record, so it only makes sense that it comes out on Victory Records," said band member Alex Merchlinsky.

"Damnation A.D. defined metal core many years before the term even existed. I first met Mike 'D.C.' and his brother Brian McTernan (now known for producing albums for bands like Snapcase, Darkest Hour, Thrice and Senses Fail amongst others) in 1989 when my old band Even Score played a show in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Two years later, Victory released a record, in fact it was Victory's seventh release (VR07), for Washington D.C's Worlds Collide. An old roommate from Chicago was the singer and that is how I met Ken Olden, who played guitar for the band. Mike and Ken formed Damnation A.D. which has a long and rich musical and international touring history. With the history that we have together from my pre-Victory days as a singer for a band to the early days when Victory first started it would simply be sacrilegious to not work with Mike, Ken, Colin and Alex. Now, if you dislike history, you can delete what I just said and move on. The bottom line is this, if you like hard music you will love Damnation A.D., period," said Victory Founder Tony Brummel.

In discussing the new record the band's Ken Olden can do a better job than we can. "On this album we got to do a lot of things we hadn't done in the past. We were able to take our time writing and recording the songs. Our sound has continued to evolve, but it is still definitely Damnation A.D., just less musically self-indulgent, and more catchy and memorable. We also got to work with some of our good friends on several of the tunes, which is something we had talked about in the past, but never had the time to make happen. Guest performances include Wes from Give Up the Ghost, John Henry from Darkest Hour, Karl from Earth Crisis and Freya, and Patrick and Pete from Fall Out Boy. Mike's voice is better than ever, and he sounds more pissed and raw than he ever has. We're stoked for everyone to check it out, we know people are gonna enjoy this new album." Vocalist Mike McTernan wraps it up with, "Damnation A.D. and Victory are a perfect match, and I'm looking forward to working with the entire Victory staff because they are as dedicated to heavy music as we are."

"In This Life Or the Next" will be in stores June, 12, 2007.
