ADVENTURE BEACH
SKYNET: ARMAGGEDON

It's that time again folks.

The 2009 Paintball Season is going to kick off with a bang, an atomic bang that is as Adventure Beach Paintball (ABP), along with PCMs' good buddies Shadow Group (SG)get together and bring us a 3 game series to get the year kicked off RIGHT!

To say PCM is amped for this game is an understatement.  We love the field, have made respect for SG, and who doesn't like Terminators ?!!? We are joing up with the Machines for the first game, and look forward to shooting you...

Feb 7th kicks off this Series with SkyNet: Armeggdon. ABP being the kind of field that they are is going to throw in free play (no field fee) in the form of another Battle at the Beach fun day.  If you had the fortune to make it too the ABP Toys for Tots game this past December you know how nice it is to sit back and relax and play some paintball with not a care in the world.

We look to see YOU on the field!

A couple of us PCM'ers will be refing this weekend at http://www.abspaintball.com/ for their Operation Daidem game.

We have long been fans of ABSP and look forward to helping out at what should be a great game.

Operation Kasserine Pass First Blood

Well you've been waiting for it, so here it is. Overall I really enjoyed this game. With the small numbers, elements on the field were allowed to roam all over the field. This made for some really crazy missions. Starting things off for me would have to be a mission in the very back of the field. It was an XO mission and I was the assigned XO for it.

We left our base and took the swamp all the way to the very back middle of the field. Deep within the many corners, heavy foliage and trails laid our objective. We left very light with only 6 players ready to move out on the mission, when we arrived we found one Capital Offense guy holding the position. After a quick flanking maneuver the position was taken and we setup a perimeter. I found a small hole in a canopy inside the objective and squeezed in. It was all open inside but the foliage on the outside was VERY thick. As I called PCM in my own teammates couldn't even find me as they arrived at the location and I was talking to them.

Close to about 10 minutes into the mission Capital Offense came back BIG. As I understand it they came from 2 angles and tore everyone apart. The battle lasted a couple minutes and I could tell it wasn't going well. As they approached my position, two players came right up on my canopy I was hiding in, and I knocked them out. From that point on they were yelling sniper in the bushes and boy did they open up on my position. However I was so entrenched I was never shot. It really was a sweet position. After this another CO member came down the trail into my line of fire where I had crawled in at. I hit him in the chest and as he yelled for a medic I remained still and prone ready to strike again.

However because of the heat of the day the rules for medic was a wipe anywhere on the body heals. I could only see the guy laying down before me from his head to his waist, and I didn't ever see the medic, the brush was just that thick. So after he rezed and about 15 secs of another exchange of fire... (The log that separated us was completely white from the paint.) He called out again. Of coarse during all of this people are just randomly firing into the brush to try to knock me out. Two minutes pass and the ref calls out about 6 of them since the medic hadn't reached them.

At this point I know theres still a couple of them left and I am all alone, I could hear them talking to the ref trying to get their mission time back up and running for the hold, even though they hadn't dislodged me yet. They had found the gold (prop for this mission) and as the ref announces a few minutes left on their mission I hear a noise from behind...

As I turned around I see a nothing short of an angel sent from the heavens.... A tank was coming up the back trail!! Dead By Dawn made it all the way to the back!! As soon as I identified the friendly tank I gave away my position and yelled at the tank walker to get the tank down the trial! 30 seconds later CO booked off with the gold down the back trail and I emerged from my tiny fortress for the first time in 28 minutes. With the tanks aid I secured the position and finished off the last 2 minutes left on our mission time. (Turns out both sides had the same mission)

I ended up walking back to Ben (The producer) and after all was said and done we got the points for completing this mission, however CO got the gold prop points. Either way it was very well fought over mission, and for me thats what its all about.

Night was just as crazy. However at 11pm a mission came up to hold the pyramid. Sarge from Section 8 was acting XO for this XO mission. We all left together and I took point as we headed swamp side to our objective. We moved steadily for a bit. When I stopped and checked my 6 after we made it through the fuel depot only one person was with me out of like 10... LOL so I decided to hit the road. Once we hit the road we moved 30 feet and dropped prone on the side of the road and listened. We repeated this until we approached the pyramid, were chatter could be heard.

Once we arrived at the front bunkers at our objective, I crossed the road to see if it would draw fire, and it didn't. After about 5 minutes of delay, I made my decision. I stood up and lowered my weapon, and from amongst the road I walked around the bunker approaching the open field and tapped the ref on the shoulder as I passed them with a big smile, in which I'm sure they could see even through my mask and the complete lack of light.

I walked right up the middle and as I hit the main entrance a player catches me coming in just before I come around the inside corner... "Take the hit Player!!" He yells, I believe I made some kind of response like don't shoot! Well it worked!

Turns out Section 8 had made it inside before me and Sarge lucky didn't out me, never the less give me a really big head ache in the morning! (Thanks man!) So I made it to my objective and laid prone in a corner for some time. We then collected the props and I had dropped my gun from my remote hose and was in the process of loading props into Sarges pod pack when a friendly player behind us said "I'm eliminated"

This is a very scary and confusing thing to hear... Especially when you are not holding a weapon. I dropped the props and picked up my gun quickly shifting my position to a different wall. I can tell you all that the sound of air rushing from a slide check valve into my gun never felt so good.

We bunkered down until the ref came up to us and told us mission complete. We gathered the props and hit the front door. We meet up with the players that were on the road from our side. I then ran point all the way down the road and we walked the props right back to our cp.

I remembering yelling "HAVOK, You still alive back there?!?" As I approached our cp, and as expected the response was "OF COARSE WE ARE!"

Night play is always "NUTS" I never saw the enemy on this mission but I know they were REALLY REALLY REALLY close. Just good times.

Another month in 2008 and yet another great MPP game experience. Earlier this month PCM had the privilege to play down at one of our favorite fields Adventure Beach Paintball near Tabor City, NC.   Knowing team Shadow Group, the field owner Kevin, and Ben and Bonnie from MPP games like we do, we also KNEW this was going to be a great game and right down the street from home.

Surprising enough, it wasn't the American markers that took us to task (not to say they weren't around because they were and there were a firing) as it was the heat and humidity. But the great field, game production, opponents and ref'ing made it an overall great day.

Night play was just as impressive, showing off the great lighting of Tippmann Town and the giant bonfire. Fortunately for those of us (KURB!!!!) that decided to be lazy for night play several of the night missions where based around said town, and several of the folks sitting out got a nice show from the sidelines and comfort of their camping chairs.

Sunday was surprisingly cooler temperature wise, and the play just as great. Although the Germans kept a lead late into the day, a strong 4th quarter push by the Americans lead them to a victory.

Luckily the beauty of scenario play is not matter how many points your team may or may not score the fun had lets everyone walk away a winner. PCM did manage to work ourselves to a Most Valuable Team Award, and Kurb got himself an MVP.

We want to thank our buds from Southern Discomfort, Rooster and Cannibal for coming down and running XO and General duties respectively. As a side note, it was Cannibals first time generaling and everyone involved agreed he did a great job. Omni Force and all the American teams, thank you for your honorable and competitive play. Adventure Beach and Shadow Group ran a tight, but fun environment, and as always MPP Games put on a incredible game.

Big game this weekend (June 12-14) at Adventure Beach Scenario Paintball (ABSP) near Tabor City NC.  This will be ABSP's first ever MPP game and we know they are excited. As usual this MPP game will be based loosely on an actually WW2 engagement; this particular game will focus on the Battle of Kasserine Pass in Northern Africa.  This battle marked the last significant accomplishment by General Romel in Africa.

PCM is pretty stoked about this game, ABSP has been one of our favorite fields for a good while now. Kevin (owner/operator of ABSP) always does great work, and our buds Shadow Group will be doing the refing; at the Invasion of Japan game a few months ago they were superb ref's.

For some light bedtime reading be sure to check out the historical notes on the battle found here =>

and the wiki here => http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Kasserine_Pass

See you there.
