We just found out that Lolipop Magazine did in fact review our first album long ago. The review isn't just good, it's also got some funny stingers that make for a good short read.

We thought those jealous bands who hated us had found better things to do (like make better music) then to find ways to attack us. We can’t believe that after 9 years, we still have losers pulling childish shit like signing us up for newsletters just so we would get tons of spam. Sure, Viagra and gay porn sites may be using bots to sniff out our addresses, but we seriously doubt Madonna is using them. This is nothing new. One day back in 2003 we got subscribed to 75 different sites ranging from gay networking, to aids support groups and even Home Depot. We got so much spam we had to change our address.

Of course posting this will probably just inspire other immature assholes to do the same. But it only shows how much a small group of dicks want us to fail so much that they’ll try anything to pull the rug out from under us.

We want to thank everyone who came out to yesterday's show in Portland. It was absolutely the best crowd we've ever had in Maine. Over the years we had grown discouraged with the waning crowds at local shows and this show lightened our spirits and renewed a lot of our faith in the scene.

As of now we officially start a winter hiatus to work solely on writing the third album. It will feel good to have modern material written by the three of us, as solid group collaboration instead of being written by 100 different people. What is uncertain in our future though is when Diana and Roy’s baby is born, where are we going to rehearse? We have a whole winter to figure this out so by the time comes, an answer will arise.

We got a new review of Dark Palace. This time it's by Masterful Magazine. Does this guy have a personal problem? On Where The Souls Wander, he gave us a 7. But on this album (which he even says was better) he gives Dark palace a 6 ?????

We don't get why this guy makes a big deal out of the 4 typos in the booklet. 3 of which passed a spellcheck because they were syntax errors. All of which will be fixed on the next re-order. We even went back and double check them all. There is no typos in the credits(it's 60% band and people's names) What the hell is this guy talking about? It seems he mostly focused on negatives, and since he couldn't find enough, got all picky. Seriously, there was plenty of good stuff that this guy could have commented on but decided just to note them and avoid discussing the details. A good example is his mention of the cover tune. Well? How about telling the reader about it. Was it good? Did it suck? He also mentions the Unus Vir Symphony but again, give not details or opinion about it. You get the picture.

Need more solos? Up till now the only gripe was we had too many. Some of our songs have two solos. And the title track has friggin 3. How many more does this guy think we should have?

While I can agree about the cover art I can't believe he feels yhe layout is amateurish and ugly... you've got to be joking. We ripped the layout off from current major bands including a lot of the ones he named. Whatever.

Anyways, here's the review.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Maine, New England female fronted dark metal act 13 Winters return after their commendable (but hardly spectacular) debut "Where the Souls Wander". This second album once again combines the death/doom of My Dying Bride ("As the Flower Withers") with the symphonic genre-bending work of Moonspell, circa "Wolfheart" with a dash of "Sacro Culto" era Opera IX. Vocally, Diana Adams is quite similar to former Opera IX singer Cadaveria. The tempo is mostly midpaced with the occasional foray into faster territory. The plodding tempo is this record biggest downfall as the songs miss symphonic grandeur, memorable arrangements and catchy hooks that made Dimmu Borgir a institute in the genre. The charismatic leads/solos form a highlight on this record and need to be explored more on future material. Three tracks ('Dark Palace Of Waterfalls', 'Horizon's End' and 'In Gods' Eyes') have contributions from the Unis Vir Symphony from Portland. Strangely, there's also a cover of '80s synth-pop sensation Duran Duran's 'Hungry Like The Wolf' to be found here. The production by keyboardist/violinist Roy Adams and his own Dark Valley Studios has improved notably compared to their lacklustre debut. The album was mixed and mastered by Jay Frigoletto at Metronome Media Group (Alice In Chains, Shadows Fall, Life Of Agony). The artwork, design and lay-out are still amateurish and ugly. The writing errors in the lyrics and the production notes of the booklet are simply inexcusable. "Dark Palace Of Waterfalls" is a step in the right direction for 13 Winters, although they are far from the professional band they aim to be. Hopefully they'll have worked out the flaws by the time they get around to releasing their third album.

Yesterday we began working on a re-make of Dark Embrace. What is the final track on "Where The Souls Wander" has been consider our best... and most under performed, song in our catalog. We haven't played it since 2005.

We have broken the song down riff by riff and redesign them to be heavier, brutal and give the song better flow.

It will be included on the new album, Burn The World, titled "Darker Embrace".

The profile we made to inform bands on the dangers of Paying To Play and to create a community of bands who share the same belief that we should be paid for our work, not the other way around... was DELETED.

www...myspace...com/..takebackthestag..e

As expected, myspace's email system is just a robot that responds with "If it was deleted, it was for a good reason." Even though the profile was doing absolutly NOTHING to violate the Terms Of Service. There was no copyrighted images, no racism, no porn(child or other), no hate speeches, no spam.

The only thing that could have happened is one of the promoters and scam artist listed in our blog got a crew together to click, click, click the complaint button untill Myspace deleted it.

This is a perfect example that the profile was doing a great service to bands if one of those scam artist saw it as a threat enough to get it removed. The profile will be rebuilt a.s.a.p. and will contain the story of the old profile to start it off with.

Update:

The new profile has been made. We still have to post the info on it but it's there for you to join.

We have just learned that Dark palace has reached #21 in the Bull Moose Music chart. Due to Dark Valley Record's recent aggressive sales tactics, we've outsold Eminem.
