Head out to Beauty Bar on 6/26 at 8 pm for an unforgettable farewell show for mash-up DJ Car Stereo (Wars) as he ventures to dominate New York City’s music scene. Opening up for Car Stereo (Wars) will be Seattle-based Astronautalis, Austin’s own Zeale, Neiliyo, and MEGAGates.

Scheduled to perform at the 2009 Lollapalooza Festival, Car Stereo (Wars) (www.myspace.com/carstereowars) is known for delivering a pop culture buffet by pulling together interesting, high-energy song combinations that keep the hipsters on their feet throughout Austin’s trendiest dance spots. Drawing inspiration from mash-up maestros like Girl Talk, his full-length album, The Bandit, has become the perfect party music for anyone with discerning tastes.

Joining Car Stereo (Wars) is Seattle-based Astronautalis (www.myspace.com/astronautalis). Formerly known as one of the most talented freestyle emcees in the country, Astronautalis now produces albums that fuse hip hop, folk and indie rock to deliver a highly refined album that’s been supported by artists such as The Polyphonic Spree, Midlake, and The Paper Chase. Supporting them will be one of Austin’s most skilled rapper and emcee, Zeale (www.myspace.com/zeale32), who, with his expert wordplay, emulates hip hop artists such as The Cool Kids and Lupe Fiasco. Rounding out the lineup is solo electro-funktionaire, Neiliyo (www.myspace.com/neiliyomusic), and DJing early in the night will be MEGAGates.

FREE pizza & beverages from 9 pm to 10 pm - thanks to the generous support of 3 Olives Vodka, Independence Brewing Company and Pie Guys Pizza.

Enter for a chance to win 2 tickets to the show at PartyEnds.com, Austinist.com, Do512.com, and The Austin Chronicle’s Chrontourage.

The Story Of

Until the Autumn

The history behind Until the Autumn reads like a script for a made-for-TV movie: five friends from Athens, Ohio, relocate to Austin, then, after 2007's The World's Affair, write and record their fourth album on the banks of the Colorado River – in a cabin owned by Maryann Price no less. Thankfully, Until the Autumn makes a fine soundtrack. Passive and pastoral, the local quintet writes heavily textured, piano-based indie pop that, in standouts such as "Berkeley" and "Hawk Gospel," lands between Ben Gibbard's Postal Service and Death Cab for Cutie. The vibe throughout is incessantly positive, largely due to the sensitive resolve of singer Christman Hersha, whose soft touch cushions "Veterans Day" and "The Flock." Most impressive is the way the Story Of manages to explore organic and religious themes without ever sounding too far-reaching or cliché. Consider this New Sincerity for the Garden State generation.

Hey everyone,

It's rare when MTV decides to come to Austin, Texas to film local bands at the root of what they do:  play music.  So, when MTV told us that not only are they going to film three local bands play live, but they're going to film them hanging out, recording and jamming out, we were sold!

All three bands are extremely talented in their own rights.  Each band delivers to the audience something special and unique.

Headlining for the night will be Vinyl Dharma, an indie electro pop/rock band.  In 2007, they won MTV2's On the Rise Contest and had an opportunity to play at the TRL studios in Times Square on New Year's Eve.  Since then, they moved from South Texas to Austin to expose their music to the "Live Music Capital of the World."  So, watch out for MTV on Thursday during the day and Friday while they film Vinyl Dharma around town.

Second on the billing are Austin veterans, The Story Of.  Their music is powerful and lyrical.  Their last album, "The World's Affair," received praising reviews by notable organizations such as NPR.  And if you take one listen to it, you'll know why.  It's that good!  So, we were ecstatic that The Story Of agreed to participate.  Not only will MTV film them at the Stubb's show, but on Friday, they will be heading out to their studios at a cabin in the woods to hear them jam while they're recording their next album.

And last but definitely not least, A Faulty Chromosome will be opening the bill.  A Faulty Chromosome is not your average shoegaze band.  They are extremely entertaining and incredibly intriguing to watch on stage.  Even paddy cake hand-claps come with the show!  They're currently on tour, but will be back right in time to play and be interviewed by MTV at Stubb's.

As an indulgence to yourself, buy your tickets to the MTV2 filming at Stubb's this Thursday, August 21st - doors at 9 pm.  Tickets are on sale through www.stubbs.frontgatetickets.com

Who knows...you might even be on TV!!!  But what's even better is showing your support to well deserving bands.

Cheers,

Gina - Vinyl Entertainment
