Soft Targets will be performing live tonight on the long-running University of Chicago radio show, Pure Hype (9-10:30). The live set will be followed by an interview where we will be discussing public health care reform, nuclear proliferation, ethnic tensions in Kazmirikstan and our new CD, "Don't Put Out."

This will most likely be our last performance of 2009 so tune into 88.5FM or listen live on-line at www.whpk.org/stream/

Also, thanks to these fine college and community radio stations for playing the new CD:

WMBR (Cambridge, MA)
WIDR (Kalamazoo, MI)
KZMU (Moab, UT)
WTUL (New Orleans, LA)
WLUW (Chicago. IL)

We had a great time performing "The Kids Want Action" for the kids on Saturday. We predicted correctly: the kids do indeed want action. The Soft Targets appearance on Chic-A-Go-Go will air two times: Wednesday, March 18 at 3:30 PM and Tuesday March 24th at 8:30 PM on Channel 19.

Unless I am remembering incorrectly, there was a time ('78 or '79 maybe?) when major labels started placing full page ads in music magazines that featured both their mainstream acts (Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, perhaps) and newer punk or new wave bands (like the Clash, and, yes I know they weren't on the same label) Listening to this Soft Targets CD reminded me of these ads and that era in music. Punk and Classic rock existed as separate entities, but here was an overriding feeling that was created by the mixture of genres. There are some sonic traces of both cited bands on "Soft Targets Must Be Destroyed,"" but it is in the manifestation of the spirit of the late 70s/early 80s that makes this record and exiting modern document·

Thank you to those who bought the Soft Targets Must Be Destroyed CD, either at a show or on-line or just downloaded a song or two. If you missed our single on Loud Devices you can order a copy from them through their website.

No shows lined up just yet. We recorded basic tracks for 10 songs this past weekend with Kris Poulin at the Armitage Shanks studio in Chicago. We'll be finishing that up over the next few months and hopefully see a release in late summer or early fall.

There are also rumors of an impending cassette only release from an obscure cassette label in the UK. This would possibly include odds and sods from past line-ups and a b-side or two. But that's enough grist for the rumor mill. We hope to see you at a show this year.

Oh, yeah, we're number eight in Amy Dittmeier's year end list at Deli Magazine (two ahead of Fallout Boy, watch out Pete Wentz, Dan Kiss has all your moves and twice your fashion sense)

Happy New Year.
