Hi guys, man its been ages since i wrote a blog. im so sorry.
This isn't one under the best circumstances... but a very special dude
died the other day. He was a great mate of mine and many other music
industry folk. His name was Norm Sweeney commonly known as 'Normie E
The Bad Roadie' . Strangely enough he died on the same day as Michael
Jackson and Farrah Fawcett.
He has been a roadie his whole life and he was like the king of all
roadies. He started as a roadie for Max Merrit and the Meteors and
then became Billy Thorpes right hand man. I used to work with him
wherever possible cause he was just so fun to have around. He would
NEVER let me carry a thing, even when he was sick he would still try
and carry my guitar for me like it was an insult if i did it.
When he became very ill all his mates threw a benefiet bash for him and they
raised thousands of dollars, he was supposed to use the money to pay
hospital bills but he went out and bought a new roadie van that was
slightly more reliable and powerful than his original big red van. He
used to pull up at the roller door of my garage (which was my studio)
when i lived in Balmai..., he'd toot the horn and i'd hit the
buzzer and the door would roll up and there he'd be standing there
with arms full of cold beers and a big smile. .
I love that guy. I wrote a song for him today, Ive put it on the music
bit thing on the main page. It's called 'After The Boy's (Normie's
Song)'
Hope you guys are all doing ok and looking after each other, take care.
x
Sarah
