The last 6 years have been somewhat interesting, exciting, enjoyable, frustrating at times but the most positive thing I can say is that all the people I have met who have become friends (real friends) I wouldn't change a thing.

after nearly 6 years of travelling around the UK, Europe, USA and even Japan it's time for a new challenge, new beginnings and of course new friends.

Will Demob be back I hear people ask, well if it happens I wont be there, Terry Elcock and John Melfah the to guys who formed Demob are the ones to ask about that, I have had my time and enjoyed it very much so in the words of whoever said it, it's time to "Jog on"  Turn the page and move on.

Thanks to all who have made these last 6 years for me memorable, see you down the front somewhere soon.

Well! after a 13 hour or so drive via a ferry crossing we arrived in Berlin ready for some action which came in the form of a Drongos For Europe gig which me and Gregg managed to get along to with the help and guidance from our hostess for the weekend Nic (we love ya Nic and owe you big time)

We managed to catch the last half dozen songs of Drongos and had a great night drinking and catching up with the lads and many other people who we met on the night and what a great night it was:-)

Friday our bassist Steve arrived and was collected by Marcus and Shan our drummer and all 3 went on a bit of a tour of Berlin whilst me and Gregg slept off the effects of the night before :-D but once we  woke up it was time for shower, a bit of table tennis lol! and then we woke Nic up to take us to a bank to get some money which was a pain in the arse as my fooking card would not work (shit happens) so after trooping about Kruzberg, we had to get ourselves down to the Wild At Heart to have some refreshments and food and what a fantastic bunch of people we had to look after us at the Tikki Bar, thanx to Lea, Uli, Coco, Maja and the good lady who prepared a lovely meal for us and with an never ending supply of drinks we were well spoilt so many huge thanx to all the staff at the Tikki Bar, we love you people.

The night of the gig was fantastic once we all arrived, the other 2 bands; Hysterics and 4 Debils were delayed due to border control but finally made it to the venue, once everything was set up and running the Wild At Heart started to fill up and the night began and what a great night it was.

Managed to catch some of both bands performances and have to say these guys are good and worth catching if you ever see them advertised as playing anywhere near your home town, the are from Czech Republic and play very tight and melodic punk, think Street Dogs, Briggs, Floggin Molly and you'll know what Im talking about.

By time we got on the place was buzzing and it wasn't long before the floor was alive with bodies getting into the Demob mood, especially opening with the new song "Once Punk" followed by "New Breed" and "What You Fighting For" the scene was set for a mad but cracking night of blood sweat and beers.

By the time we got to  "No Room For You" the night was well and truly spent and people were wanting more songs, so due to the new line-up we let rip with "No Room" again and still more songs were wanted, sadly we had no more but the night was a success, friends were made, drinks were drunk, and when 5am came we were on our way back to France to catch the ferry at 4pm the same day, tired, but not disappointed, an absolutely fantastic time was had by all and once again many thanx to all who made our trip what it was and we will see you all again in 2009

Well I knew it wouldn’t be easy and we had high hopes for a lot of things this year but due to new band members coming and going and illness that is having it’s way with the band at the moment we had a meeting tonight and decided to set some real goals for the rest of the year, some disappointments for sure but some exciting projects too for all our friends to look forward to.

The new line-up is now establish and ready to go and will be playing our first headlining gig together on Friday the 11th of April at the Wild At Heart in Berlin, support coming from CZ streetpunk bands; The Hysterics and 4 Debils, check these guys out on My Space.

DEMOB 2008:
Andy Kanonik........Vocals
Marcus Harley...... Drums
Steve Dehtiar........ Bass
Greg Holland........ Guitar

Vienna is another big show and we are looking forward to getting it on in Austria so come to the Arena on the Sunday the 27th where you can hear old and new songs off the forth coming September album.

Many more shows in europe and UK are planned so we hope you will become part of the Demob Riot Squad on tour for 2008.

Sad to say that USA tour this year will be shelved until 2009, to much has and is happening and circumstances are such due to legal reasons that we cannot get over to play which is totally disheartening to us as it is to all our US friends and supporters, we apologize for this but promise that we have something special lined-up next year, more on that in due course.

The new album is taking more time than we want it to but we have to say it’s not the lack of material as we have enough for at least 5 albums, yes 5 albums but we have some great ideas we are thinking about and I’m sure if it goes according to plan there will be some cheesy smiles on peoples faces for a longtime to come.

We are rerecording 3 classic Demob songs and a new track to go on a 7" vinyl, also we have some split vinyl coming out with some bands who we are delighted to share the same vinyl with, you know who you are we’ll keep the rest guessing ;-)

Plans for a live DVD is being looked into, we have 6 years of video footage to use and a shit load of pics old and new.

New tshirts and other merch are being designed and will be for sale via our My Space, please be patient as we get those things up together.

More news coming soon so watch this space.

JUST TO CLEAR UP A QUESTION I WAS ASKED THIS WEEK, CONCERNING DEMOB SUPPORTING U2 ON THEIR "BOY TOUR" AT THE MARSHALL ROOMS, STROUD ON THE 19/09/1980 AND NOT 81 ALTHOUGH THE TOUR WAS BETWEEN THOSE TWO YEARS.

THE ANSWER IS QUITE SIMPLY NO, DEMOB DID NOT SUPPORT U2 AS I WAS LED TO BELIEVE, WHAT HAPPEND IS THAT U2 WERE BOOED OFF THE STAGE AND DEMOB JUMP ON AND PLAYED 2 SONGS, ANTI-POLICE AND NO ROOM FOR YOU, THIS WILL BE VAIRIFIED IN DUE COURSE AS A FACT WHEN A COPY OF THE TICKET FOR THE GIG WITH THE SUPPORT BANDS ON IT WILL BE GIVEN TO ME TO CONFIRM THIS FACT.

All change indeed! well it was just a matter of time before internal shite was gonna cause something to go off in the band so after 5 years of up and down nonesense we have decided to part company with Terry and Richy, the latter will still help out from time to time, and the former, well lets say there is still things to be sorted but wont go into it all now.

It has to be said the main reason for Demob continuing is all of you out their who have shown your appreciation and support, granted we are not everyones cuppa but we love playing the shows, sharing the stage and the desire to push forward with all the things we wanted to do and couldn't is what has enabled us to come to a decission that Demob is as much as you the supporters/friends than it is our band.

What lies ahead??

You can be sure that there will be more gigs, tours and a new album and some rerecordings for a suprise 7" that will hopefully ready for our 30 year tour next year.

Thanx again to all of you our friends who have made it possible and given us the desire to continue what we love doing, we appreciate you and you have our respect for being the real fibre of punk rock.

"ONCE PUNK ALWAYS PUNK"

Current mood:  contemplative

What a great weekend this was, although there were a lot of what the Norwegians call  punk metal bands, there were some very good punk bands: Haggis - SMZB - Backstreet Girls to name a few that really caught my eye and yes there were others which I have forgot at the moment :-)

It was good to catch up with Ranking Roger and the Beat, we were the only 2 UK bands that turned up, a shame really but no moaning about it.

Yes it was bloody expensive but worthwhile and we will be going back in due course, so thanks again to all who we met and to those who took the time to chat and make our stay a great weekend, cheers and beers

Current mood:  rejuvenated

Long time coming but it was a great weekend and we were well looked after, so a huge thanks to Symond and all the CJ team.

Lots of highlights which certainly out-weighed the low ones.  Thanks for those of you who took the time to say hello and watch the band, we appreciate your support and hope you will stay in touch with what we are doing.
