Anybody that really knows me, knows that I'm very sensitive. It's true. I try to mind my business and stay out of other peoples business. I recently found out that I was the subject of a conversation had by a club goers that I don't know!! Enough said. You all, let's not tear each other down. Let's get an understanding before we go talking about each other. Our loving house music community is way too small. Talk travels. We can actually settle our differences between each other. Amen?

Am I really getting old? .. I'm 38, fat and sexy. Does that mean that my youth is so far gone that I can't hear what's good anymore? I remember hearing older people say to me, "son, that aint no good music. You should listen to Duke, Basie, Sarah, or Nat."
There are sooooo many reasons as to why the music has dwindled down to "Chicken Noodle Soup With A Soda On The Side." What's really really scary is, I know that music is an extension of the music maker! So if I'm an angry person internally, my music will probably reflect that anger. If I'm ignorant, and have no self respect, low self esteem, no respect for my culture, no vision, no morality, my music will sound like what I hear on the radio, and see in the videos.
On the other hand, I'm not one to knock anybodies hustle. I would love to make the money that some of these artist are making. But if we're going to do a record that degrades, and shows nothing but immorality and self degradation, we're responsible for bringing enlightenment to the table also. If we don't, we will be making money at the expense of losing generations to greed, lust, laziness, and ignorance. That is the direct result of todays music! Even the level of talent has dropped tremendously!!!!
Paris Hilton put a record out!!! Need I say more? Our children really love the artist that are coming today. This is alarming me. Will it be so that artist with real talent, and spirituality be frowned upon? Why can't Rachelle Farrell, Lalah Hathaway, Mint Condition, Kenny Bobien, Dawn Tallman, Darryl D'Bonneau, and Sara Devine get a shot at being mainstream?!?!?!?! What happened? There was a time when artist didn't get naked, or have chisled, diesel looking bodies. Marvin Gaye's beard was nappy as hell! Curtis Mayfield wore googly eyed glasses. Isaac Hayes wasn't the most attractive brother around. Billy Paul was old and wore glasses. War was a group that looked like they just got outta prison! Look.. I'm just saying, can we start paying more attention to the talent? Soulful House music artist really suffer, because they are never really respected. I love the house music fans because they are forced to enjoy the music first. House music doesn't have media support. So you will never know what the artist looks like until after you've heard the record. And usually, you're in some club, dancing and enjoying yourself when you hear a house music song.
My desire is that we do more listening and comprehending to music. Music is phonic and not visual. Keep that in mind before we pick up a song with the word BOOTY in the title.
